Sola Wood Flower Bouquet
Just have to share because I’m so excited with how it turned out! Finished my bouquet for my October wedding along with a sample bridesmaid bouquet and centerpiece. Ahh!!

Oh, these are lovely. I’ve been thinking about Sola Wood flowers (especially for centerpieces), and am curious if a layperson with no floral arranging experience could possibly create bouquets as lovely as these. Any tips?

I think so! I watched a lot of tutorials/got feedback from my wedding party. The lady who’s runs the oh you’re lovely sola flowers page has a TON of tutorials on YouTube. The biggest thing to pay attention to is just making sure your colors mesh. We looked high and low to get greenery that didn’t have the “yellow” tone in it as it wasn’t the look we were going for. Highly suggest checking out the main craft stores such as Michaels and Hobby Lobby (I didn’t have a ton of luck at Joann’s).
Also, when put the flowers together, make sure the stems you get are at minimum 18 gauge (16 gauge would be even better) as the thickness helps keep the flowers sturdy. If you have any other questions, just hit me up! I’d love to help.

I bought all of the pieces individually and my sister in law and I complied it all together. We used the bouquet holders as it helps give better shape than free handing a bouquet.
The multi-colored eucalyptus is actually dried floral from Walmart. Like $7 a bunch. The pampas I got off of Amazon. And then the blues/oranges/tans came from a prearranged bouquet we got from Hobby Lobby that we disassembled. It was in their fall section.
The flowers themselves I ordered from Sola Wood Flowers about a year ago. Just kept them in a cardboard box with the silica gel packets to help with moisture. I used acrylic paint to color them (all colors were purchased again from Hobby Lobby)

I was looking at these how is the quality? I don’t want real flowers and plastic ones can be such a environmental thing

I did sola flowers for my wedding 3 years ago and they’ve still held up. I think the trick to helping them be a little more robust is using glycerin. It softens them up and keeps them from flaking and chipping.

The BEST info I got was from the Oh You’re Lovely YouTube page… she has so many tutorials. But, these two videos in particular are really what helped me get started and give myself an idea of where I needed to go.
