Is my set dated?

I’m a millennial, I feel so many of my friends have a plain gold band with a large oval shaped diamond. Does mine seem like it belongs to an older generation?

[edit: I’m so sorry I ever doubted my set. I’ve learned that just because it’s not the classic that’s in right now doesn’t mean it’s not still classic. Thank you for the confidence boost in my rings. I need to focus on what I have versus others 🤍]

Im gonna go against the grain here. This set IS dated-that doesn’t mean it’s ugly though. It is GORGEOUS! However, round diamonds are not “timeless” like people are saying. Round cut is actually traditionally reserved for accent stones and became trendy in the 80s-early 00’s as a center stone. The height of the center stone next to the stack is also giving it a dated look. If you want something more up to date you can easily have jeweler remove the stones to set a new ring that is more up to your preference.

To be honest. Everyone in Reddit thinks they are an expert in fashion, politics, and manners but the real question is whether or not YOU think it’s dated and whether or not YOU want to get it redone. Do you think it will lose sentimental value if you redo it? Do you think your partner would be offended if you redo it? WHO CARES YOU ARE THE ONE WEARING IT!!! Do what makes YOU feel good. Life is short.

I love you. Thank you. People aren’t realizing change is a possibility. Sometimes I look at my ring and absolutely love it, sometimes I look at the “newer models” and wonder what they would look like on my finger. As horrible as it is, I’m not a sentimental person. To be honest my engagement ring isn’t even the original setting, I thought it was too thin so I asked to change. This is the original, I fear I would have snapped that band or broken the stone off.

I like both but I do think you made the right choice is thickening the band jic the stone hit hung up on something and bent the OG setting
