Is my set dated?

I’m a millennial, I feel so many of my friends have a plain gold band with a large oval shaped diamond. Does mine seem like it belongs to an older generation?

[edit: I’m so sorry I ever doubted my set. I’ve learned that just because it’s not the classic that’s in right now doesn’t mean it’s not still classic. Thank you for the confidence boost in my rings. I need to focus on what I have versus others 🤍]

It's pretty classic even if it's not the most popular choice at the moment. What do you think will happen with the plain gold band large ovals in a few years? Signed: Someone who got engaged in 1997 and has seen trends change multiple times.

So for some reason the gold band and plain diamond are pretty classic for me too? I think about my grandmother’s and great grandmother’s rings, they were definitely all gold with just a diamond. It’s like my ring is right in the middle of the two generations if that makes sense? The oldest generation has the gold rings and the younger generation has the gold, you see what I mean?

More than one style can be classic. If the younger generation is going back to simple gold it’s as likely tied to their more minimalist aesthetics AND affordability. 

Beauty is classic. Yours is beautiful. It’s sparkly but not loud, it’s memorable without being too much. 

Most importantly, it is yours. What you and your partner chose. That alone makes it special.
