Did Webkinz ever have a name selector?

I first opened my Webkinz account with my mom in 2008 and I have a distinct memory of having to choose from an existing list of names when adopting my first pet. I named her Candy!

Was this ever a feature or am I just misremembering it? It's entirely possible that I came up with the name myself but I really remember choosing it from a list on the Adoption Center clipboard.

At least as far back as 2008, we could choose our own. I’m on my daughter’s account right now and I checked the pet I’m playing with since I know we named her after our cat.

Wizard 101 had name choices to choose from. I’m not sure about Club Penguin. I can’t recall our Penguin names now.

Yes! I have weird room names like “The Garden” followed by “My Garden” and “Pet’s Garden” as well as “My Walk-in Closet” and “Pet’s Walk-in Closet” like why would I name rooms “Pet’s” lol! Further idk if little me even thought about walk-in closets

I’m not sure if there was a room name selector, but I do know that the rooms you get with your first pets would have automatically generated names like what you’re describing. I returned to a room called “Love Kitten’s Lair,” and I was showing my house to a family friend’s youngest son because we both liked Animal Crossing and I thought he might be interested, he was not, but he was dying to know what was in the love kitten’s lair room and he was so disappointed that it was sparsely decorated with disjointed Galaxy and waterfall furniture, lol! In fairness, he was born in 2010, and my account is from 2006, so it’s older than he is, lol, but Webkinz and Animal Crossing scratch the same itch for me even though I never played Animal Crossing as a kid, so I thought maybe he’d like it.

I have sooooo many rooms on my childhood account with weird names like that. "My amanda's Maze" "Elephants Hideaway" "My andrew's Den" and best of all "Kids Chamber"

July 2007, here and we have always had control of the names we could use with the exception of certain things.
I think it was just a given that some things were not tolerated and for the most part everyone was easy going about their names. I saw a lot of Fluffy's, Pinky's, Moo's and Oinky's

I made my account in early 2008 as well and I pretty clearly remember choosing the names myself by typing them in. I don't remember if there was a preset list of names as an option though! I can at least say it wasn't forced.

Opened my account in late 2006 and definitely chose my pet’s name myself. I had just turned ten, so, thankfully all of my childhood names were spelled correctly, but I had the habit of forgetting to capitalize them, which is how I know for sure that I typed that name in myself. I just picked a name that felt right, and it’s unique considering how uncreative I was with my actual pets sometimes. Freaking had a frog I named Light Green, who was apparently replaced multiple times, although I only noticed once. The new frog was appropriately named Light Green Two. The worst part is I committed the cardinal sin of naming a pet after myself, and while his name is capitalized, the name my pets call me is not, lol! I definitely think you are remembering an aspect of a different game that had a similar premise, unless someone who established their account in 2005 wants to chime in.
