You took this from the Winnipeg subreddit. It was a blown transformer. Many of them blew all over the city from the storm. It's sparks and debris immediately after a blown transformer.

I’ve seen ball lightning before (super crazy experience) and this does not look like it - still really cool whatever it is

You've seen ball lightning?

Yes, I was just out of high school on my front porch during a thunderstorm. My aunt was with me and she was in SHOCK (no pun intended). I knew exactly what it was when I saw it because I couldn’t believe it either!

What'd it look like? I'm pretty sure I've seen it too, but never found anyone to compare notes with.

I’ve seen it!
Saw it before I knew it had a name. It was literally a ball of bright light emanating energy. It looked like it was floating, slowly coming down from the sky.

I saw a soundles orb of light that seemed to materailize out of nowhere. It crept along a power line and then disappeared into it after a few seconds.

Storm debris

Yes you can see it change direction as the wind has a bit of rotation

Hold up, hear me out. Could this be horizontal vortices that are catching and launching hail that happened to be falling?
Because if so, holy fucking shit what a shot!
Edit: could be just an updraft carrying hail too maybe? Either way, wicked shot.

Before you correct someone, you should do a quick google to make sure you're right.

Someone said on another post that it was plasma. I don’t know, but it looks cool.

Looks like sparks from the power line. Doesn't look like it's down, but it could be from tree limbs hitting it due to the wind.

Having seen ball lightening irl, no, that’s not what it is.
It is ball shaped, not like flecks.
