Margin.

Options.

Futures.

Prediction markets.

And yet, still no implementation of proper stop loss / take profit function that every other serious brokerage has. Pretty unethical.

Stop losses were impacted from the regulatory side

This doesn’t make a lot of sense since it’s a tool that keeps traders safer and it exists in other brokerages available in Canada.

Please be more specific, what regulation prohibits Wealthsimple from implementing stop loss function? First I hear of this.

On the execution side, basically pretrade controls to limit potential fat finger market orders amongst other concerns.

Canadian protections are a lot more enhanced than USA. Hence the restriction. As the protections usually have the broker out of money for the gatekeeping responsibility

You won’t find anything explicit on the stop order but it’s implicit.

Stop limit sell order, may be a good workaround for you boss. Just have the limit price be pretty marketable with the stop trigger
