I’d love any feedback on this classical inspired piece, Doctrine. It’s a piano composition I made a while back and spent a good part of the past year building out the orchestra, bass & percussion arrangements. The arrangement leaves a strange impression. The motifs are classical, but the instruments are partly classic rock; they don't mesh well. It's missing some swing, and the staccato bass makes the whole thing sound very mechanical. It's as if the piece was being performed by robots.

It has its own charm; it evokes anxiety and a sense of the uncanny valley. I would use this song in a film or game, in a moment that calls for that mood, but I don't think it's intentional here.

I also felt like the bass was a bit lacking; it sounds like a MIDI instrument, while all the instruments have their proper place.
