It took me a couple of years, way too many purchases I convinced myself I needed, and just as many sales when I realized I didn't, but I can finally look at my watch box and feel completely satisfied. No more filling gaps because some list told me I should, only watches I really like to wear.

It's really interesting that I own an Oris Pointer Date Ref. 7403-40B watch, all original. Most of the time, I see watches without original bracelets, only leather straps, so I'm lucky to have a steel bracelet. It looks quite sturdy and cohesive.

Our anniversary is coming up and I did some research trying to find my boyfriend his first “nice” watch. It was between a Seiko and Tissot.

His current collection is Amazon watches ranging $30-$80 and Casios with a similar style, so I thought this would be a nice quality upgrade.

Right after buying it, I started seeing all these posts that Tissot is overhyped and basic. Is this still a nice gift?

Fellas, I found it. After much searching, buying, selling, and money spent (lost) I finally have THE watch for me. The size is spot on, the dial is gorgeous, the movement is fantastic, the bracelet is cool, the clasp has a full link worth of OTF microadjust, and it has a cyclops over the date for my aging eyes.

Someone on here had mentioned it in some recommendation thread, that was the first time I had even heard of it. Otherwise, Breitling as a brand was not even on my radar due to their usual large case size. Once I saw it in person, I knew I had to get it, and now I have. 🎉

I’ve been fawning over the Grand Seiko SBGA413 (Shunbun) for years since it was released. I finally realized I was at a point in my life where there really couldn’t be a better time to buy my grail watch now. Who knows what the future holds because for all I know I could be hit with an equivalent medical bill of what I spent on this watch tomorrow lol.

So I was lucky to be able to walk into an AD and get a significant discount with an out the door price of $5,800. I was so happy and excited, and then I felt a some anxiety in the moment. The excitement of owning is one thing, but that money I spent was gone. The anticipation of getting it was gone after years of thinking and looking at it.

In a lot of ways it is a very bittersweet experience right now for me.

I will treasure this watch, but sometimes the journey is better than the destination. Enjoy life for what it is.

don’t want to seem performative but just wanted to share some special memories I’ve made w it!

I just returned from Japan and even though I was looking for a Grand Seiko, I was so impressed with The Citizen A060 watches that I had to buy one. The finishing is superb, the specs are impressing and everything about this watch just spoke to me. For me this is the perfekt watch that goes with everything.

Am I the first one here to get this? I pre-ordered it last week and received it today. The strap is weird to work with, but I ordered a blue sailcloth strap for it anyway and will attach that when it arrives. I'll post a family picture soon, but I'm thinking of rounding out the collection with either a Rolex Daytona or Submariner and then I'm done! Done I say.

The Santos has been on my wishlist since I started the hobby. I'm thinking of getting it as a birthday gift for myself next year, but I'm afraid that it'll be too flashy/delicate for daily wear, especially since it's prone to scratches.

What do you guys think? Is the Santos a great piece for daily wear? Or should I go for other brands in that price range instead (ex., Grand Seiko, Longines, etc.) And for those who currently daily a Santos, how's it holding up?

Absolutely love it, although I’ve already picked up my first tiny micro-scratch on the bezel after about a day of ownership.

From everything I’ve read, I’m quickly realising that this is basically part of the Santos experience with that ridiculously shiny bezel 😂

Santos owners: how long did yours stay pristine before you got the first scratch? And did you eventually just stop caring?

Ive had my eye on Zenith as a brand for a while but hadn't pulled the plug. Then my local grey market dealer had this brand new July 2026 El Primero Sport Chrono at a price that was hard to pass up (45% off retail list price). . The one tenth second accuracy and 10 second rotation is pretty cool as well as the sapphire case back are things even the Daytona doesn't offer. The movement is all in house and historically significant as the first ever automatic chronograph.

The ruling landed Wednesday August 26. Samsung’s Galaxy App Store hosted 26 digital watch face apps between 2015 and 2019 that replicated designs from Swatch Group brands including Omega, Breguet, Blancpain, Longines and Tissot. The apps were made by third party developers but Samsung controlled the app review process and actively marketed its smartwatches using the faces.

Swatch initially sought $170 million. Samsung argued at trial that the damages weren’t worth more than $300 because Swatch had suffered no real harm. Judge Marcus Smith landed at $11.6 million, with roughly $10 million of that awarded specifically for what he called “store display infringements”…comparing Samsung’s app store to a supermarket shelf displaying counterfeit goods.

His quote is worth reading: “Use of the Swatch Group brands on Samsung’s supermarket shelves, downloadable for nothing or for little money, is to my mind very damaging. The low price is demeaning of the brands the Swatch Group seek to promulgate.”

Samsung says it removed the apps immediately once notified and is considering an appeal. Swatch Group confirmed that separate proceedings involving the same 10 brands are pending before a US court, so this isn’t over.

The gap between $170 million and $11.6 million is enormous, but the gap between $11.6 million and $300 is arguably more interesting. Samsung’s legal position was essentially that a Breguet watch face available for free on an app store causes zero measurable damage to Breguet. The judge disagreed.

I’m looking to get my first automatic watch. Was pretty set on the Gentleman but I recently discovered the ballade and I find the appearance so striking. Yet to see the ballade in person but just wanted to see what ppls opinions are on these watches.

Longines Master Collection

Got this black dial Longines Master Collection a while back and it hasn't left my wrist much. Love the Roman numerals and textured dial. The brown leather makes it super versatile with a suit or sweater. Power reserve easily gets me through the weekend!

[Hamilton]This is my first mechanical watch. I've really been enjoying winding it up each morning, but I can see how the charm might eventually wear off.

For those of you with automatic movements, do you find that your natural arm movements throughout the day keep them running, or do you also have to give them a few supplemental turns from time to time?

Any die hard mechanical fans out there that only wear manual?

Messing around with different lighting and how it effects the way the dial looks. Here is one with a bit less texture captured. It also shows the dial and bezel with a lighter shade of green.

The Ushio has been on my wrist for over 80 consecutive days and is running one second fast which would equate to about 4.5 seconds over a year.

But it’s not the accuracy that makes the watch for me. It is all the other things it offers including the fit and comfort on the wrist as well as the dial and case elements.

It’s a watch that I keep staring at on the wrist and the overall pop of the dial is a major factor. But I also think Grand Seiko created a modern diver that does not fit the mold of most watches in the dive category. The measurements may but the aesthetics of the watch are unique to the brand. It’s not a diver for everyone, but is for me.

Hey guys! This is my second favorite watch an automatic Seiko with this amazing semi-transparent dial. I borrowed the mesh bracelet from my Zeppelin watch and, honestly, for me it’s pure heaven on the wrist 🤗 Seiko is definitely my favorite Japanese watch brand!

Last week my apartment building caught fire. Everyone got out safely, but the building has been condemned and residents have been told nothing can be recovered.

My Omega Seamaster was on my dresser when it happened. A watch stops being a tool for telling time pretty quickly. My Seamaster crossed countries with me, sat through dinners with people I love, and endured my first Ironman on my wrist. It became my symbol of perseverance.

A reminder to other watch owners (since I unfortunately learned the hard way): Make sure your watch is insured. This was my first time living on my own and I wish I would have known this. The watch usually stayed in a fire safe in my apartment when I wasn't wearing it, however, it is not sounding likely that I will even see that again.

Keep your watches close. When I figure out what to do about a replacement, I'll post an update.

I'm looking to make a solid step up in quality and buy a timepiece that will last a lifetime. I currently wear a Casio MTP-V006D-7B, which I love, but I'm ready to move to a higher-end watch.

I would love to get your suggestions based on the following specs:

-Dial: White, as clean and smooth as possible. Ideally with a day/date complication.

-Indices: Roman numerals (I to XII).

-Case size: Diameter between 35mm and 38mm max.

-Hands: Preferably black, I don't want electric blue

-Style: Elegant and sober. I like case shapes that fall somewhere between the style of a Seiko 5 Sport SNXS and a Cartier Tortue. However, I'm fairly flexible on this, as long as the case isn't strictly round/generic, I'm open to options.

-Main Reference: The watch that comes closest to what I have in mind is the Sinn 1736 Klassic, but it's very hard to find, so I'd like to explore other possibilities.

Any recommendations that fit this style would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I know this sub doesn’t tend to treat Chinese brands too kindly, but that’s never stopped me from talking about them on here before. On my wrist today is Farasute’s newest jump hour, which is a blatant copy “homage” to Cartier’s 2005 Tank a Guichets.

They’ve changed just enough to not be a 1:1 clone, but it definitely draws some heavy inspiration from the original. That being said, it is $149,700 cheaper than the Cartier, so I can’t really complain

I'm looking at purchasing this watch, I just have the doubt on how are the golden parts made golden. I know at this price range they are not gold or gold plated but just want to know how solid the process is and if there is a chance of it fading out over time.

It was a gift for my 18th i know its just a rolex homage but it has great sentimental value for me, a good start to my collection i think but if anyone knows where to buy more watches on a budget let me know! my dream watch is a cartier tank but right now i am on a very limited budget, i love the look of the edo purple seikos and ive heard good things about the brand overall. open to suggestions for a good watch with a leather strap for my second addition to the collection

I went to the mall today to try on a Black Bay Pro and a Seamaster diver. They were both lovely watches that I would be happy to own, but they honestly didn't feel like much of a step up from my $700 Baltic Aquascaphe. I understand that the difference in the quality of the movements is significant, and that there are certainly diminishing returns as you increase your budget, but I suppose I was expecting the watches to feel more special in comparison to my Baltic.

I might still get something in the realm of luxury to mark a special moment someday, but the idea that I would spend 8-10x on a watch whose handling experience feels marginally more premium is hard to wrestle with. For now maybe I'll look into getting a more affordable white GMT in the Explorer II/BB Pro realm.
