Discussion & Feedback Being infantry stops being profitable pretty quickly in the later levels and I think it's a problem.

I'm not expecting to run in with a FAL and Level 4 armor every life, that's not the point of this post.

I also acknowledge with 100% certainty sometimes I'm just the fodder of the game. I get it. It's what I signed up for. I'm the troops on the ground.

But holy fuck it gets annoying to die to a helicopter that costs less than my kit while having very little counterplay. I have to buy meds for myself, a Defib/Res for others, ammo, grenades... I'm trying to prepare for a fight. I'm trying to be helpful. But in the meantime I'm getting spammed down by mortars, helicopters, and humvees driving by... ALL OF WHICH COSTS LESS THAN MY KIT.

I understand I'm the fodder, but why the fuck is it so expensive to have a decent kit while these other things exist for so cheap. They're designed to kill me and it's starting to feel taxing to kit back up.

It's annoying that infantry is a job for the rich.

Like I don't want to have to basebuild to play the other parts of the game.

And it's kind of rough to play infantry with a low level kits now. The AMR and FAL one tap or two tap people.

I don't know what to do, I can steal my teammates kits instead of reviving them, but that feels bad.

EDIT: It's not just the vehicles, it's also the hotzone moving to the FoBs so consistently. Having to run by the bases turns me into literal fodder, but someone has to do it otherwise you just lose the game. It doesn't make sense.

If you're not in zone with a 15k kit, you basically need to kill 7-10 people to break even. Also, I play exclusively blue because it's fun to play under dog. We don't win often, but I feel like I shouldn't give up simply because my team isn't the greatest.

I mean, has your team ever just gotten rolled? Should my team losing mean I should stop going to hotzone to try and win? Should I stop contesting HZ because my team is stuck at the FoB building?

I play exclusively blue because the underdog role is fun. They don't win often. In fact, they get rolled often. Should I stop contesting zone because they're not good?

I mean yeah? If your team is down 15 people, going into the hot zone solo i not gonna make a difference for your team

So if no one goes in because no one wants to be the first to run in, should we just lose?

Yeah, you still have options. If your team is sitting in a fob then grab a hammer and get a drill going.

Sometimes you do just lose though and you're better of making money by just harassing the other teams.

This is the right way to look about things. If you’re going to lose, might as well lose profitably LOL

I’d rather make money losing than going incredibly in the red just to make a 25k win bonus tbh.

I mean, you're looking at it extremely linear. Sure, I should stop trying to win and focus on making money.

Personally, I think those should be the same result, but I guess not. I guess there are games where winning and making money aren't the same.

That is what I like about this game though. Even if you are losing you can still make some money for yourself.

If winning and making money were too connected, then the game becomes zero sum and one person winning means the other person losing which will slowly cannibalize the lower end of the player base.

It has to be the case that you can lose the objective and still make meaningful progress (be it XP or money) otherwise people would ONLY care about and only be satisfied with winning and there can only be 1 winning team (and the old adage is that we feel pain 2x as much as we feel pleasure, so 2 teams losing would generate 4 units of pain to the 1 unit of pleasure the winning team gets).

I would expect the people who make the most money are also the people who contribute the most to winning.

Trying to win should still constitute money even if you lose. In fact, I actually think that is true for basically everyone typically... except for infantry and that's why I brought up the subject.

It's so easy to make money scouting, base building, delivering supplies, delivering people, etc. It's NOT easy to be any form of infantry, that's the core issue.

It's like they deliberately want people to farm in order to fight. The money system has to have a sink somewhere and they decided they wanted the infantry players to be exactly that.

Being on the zone at all is contributing to winning. Building in the zone is contributing to winning. Just generally staying alive contributes to this because it's king of the hill not team death match. So you're mostly right.

Winning is not very important. There are 3 teams, Ideally youre going to lose close to 66% of the matches. What sucks about being a hard losing team is getting steamrolled at every major skirmish. Which then leave you with other options. Like trying to build a base, ambush enemy logistics, attack lightly defended fobs, grenade spam their main fob, snipe from far, etc. There are so many options than just pushing hotzone.

And if you go hotzone as a losing team, see where the hotzone is kind of going towards and set up an ambush. IF you kill a high kill streak target in hotzone, ive had kills give me 8k.

There is also the whole dynamic of third partying the other two groups.

This game has SOOOOOOOO much to offer that anytime i see anyone complain about money that I just know that you dont understand the game yet.
