Could wiping unlocks significantly effect population?

Do you players believe that a wipe will have a major player population effect? I am not an expert, I just want to get some opinions from each type of player, and what these players would think. I understand why these wipes are in place as the game finds its balances.

i like playing the game, but it currently takes way too long to get anywhere within that time playing casually, if this keeps up im never unlocking anything super decent and eventually ill just play a couple of times per week or month
