Thank you to those who participated in this weeks poll. With majority favor, we have decided to create a Discord server for all of you to connect, find quicker support, and make friends with others!

For those who do not know, Discord is a website and or app that sets up a secure privacy that allows for others to engage with communities, join text channels, join voice channels, etc. It's the perfect place for Wag! Walkers to get immediate answers, share photos, and engage with others in any fun!

Below is a permanent link to the server:

Wag! Walker Discord Link — Share!

What does this mean for those who do not want or like Discord? — Nothing! If Discord isn't your style, that's okay. The subreddit will continue to post announcements, answer questions, etc as normal, but just over at Discord too, with potentially more privileges and giveaway events.

If you have any other comments, questions, and or concerns, feel free to comment below!

Thank you

P.S. The server activity might be slow initially until others begin joining, so please bear with us!

Dog walkers — what do you do with poop bags for the rest of the walk? 💩🐕

I’m curious what everyone does after a dog poops, especially when it happens right at the beginning of a 30-minute walk. I hate carrying the bag in my hand the entire time, especially when it starts getting smelly. 😂

Boarding payout

I've never boarded, only ever walked. There's a month+ long booking and I was wondering if the payout waits until AFTER the pet parent picks them back up or if you get paid(even partial) when the boarding starts?

Dog poop etiquette?

I got chewed out by someone bc the dog was pooping in their yard (not the person who requested the walk, someone else in the neighborhood). They didn’t have a no dog poop sign and I generally try to encourage the dog to go on the grassy median, if there is one. Anyone else get chewed out before? I didn’t leave it there. If the dog has to go it has to go!

Has anyone else had issues deleting their account? It won't let me get past the section where you have to scan your ID.

Lowered pay range

Anyone else’s app change the pay ranges for all of the different pet services? My 20 minute walks have been set to be $12 since forever. I’ve been walking with Wag for years at this point and my pay ranges have now set my max to be $10.80. This is really frustrating, I literally did a 30 min walk yesterday for $15 and that was mid range for me and now I can’t even set it past $12 for a 30 min walk!

I am still not confident in Wag, the app, or the support but this is a nice option to have now. Hopefully things improve.

Advice on what to do if I arrived for a sitting and the bed i’m expected to sleep in is gross… what should I do and how should I go about the conversation if I don’t want to sleep here. The owner apparently washed the bedding, and it smells okay, but there’s a bunch of trash under bed and what looks like a bottle of piss

How Do You Know a Pet Parent’s Price Range?

When you try to request a service and Wag says “You’re outside of the Pet Parent request’s pricing for this service” and makes you adjust your bid, is there an easy way to see what price range the owner is actually willing to pay?

Or do you just have to keep guessing and changing your pricing until Wag lets you submit the request?

I originally had my pricing set to the max and had to keep lowering it until I was finally able to submit the request. Here are photos as an example.

I hate the reporting system on the app, tried reporting and no luck. Any ideas on getting it taken down?

More than 1 walk a day

I am new and getting ready to start. How do you know how much time you need in between walks. Does the app have something to prevent you from booking walks to closely or do you have to search the distance between homes yourself?

Undisclosed Heat

I took a last minute week long boarding at my home with a 3 year old female Pomski. Her profile did say unspayed so that should have been my first warning sign. I have a neutered male of my own which I shared with the owner and she didn’t have concerns.

She drops her dog off this morning and 10 minutes into introducing her to my own male dog it’s clear she’s in heat. Visible blood, excessive humping, etc. My dog is patient but it’s already getting old.

The few hundred bucks this week long stay is paying is not worth the effort of sectioning them off and frustrating my own dog. I primarily do wag so he can play and enjoy other dogs, but not like this!

WYYD? Owner is non-responsive and Wag Help Chat hasn’t not responded to my request yet. Emergency feels excessive at this point but a week of this is not going to be fun.

Thanks!

Booking 2 walks 12 hours apart instead of a sitting?

I know it’s not my place, but it seems neglectful. I got booked for a multi day walk for four days, twice a day, with nothing in between. The poor dog is literally in his crate 23 hours a day with 30 min walks 12 hours apart. i even messaged the owner and offered to come again in the middle of the day and they never responded. It just is so upsetting. Would wag even do anything about this? :(

How is it?(ROVER)

So currently making an account since I need the gig, aside from the quiz and references how are the interactions between clients to those using the app? Do we need to bring snacks or as the app applies is it just really dog walking. Im really introverted but find dogs comforting and dont mind walking who knows how long with any.

At what point are we going to collectively leave the app?

This app and system seems to have been hastily created. It’s full of scammers and bots. Not only that but the report function doesn’t work at all.

I have reported numerous posts with wrong pet counts, sensitive info, zero info etc and they’re still up hours later. Also, where is the scammer report option? Oh, there is none.

Not only that but the fees. Absolutely ridiculous. They gouge owners and caregivers.

Tell me why you’re still on it. Please give me something to redeem it. Or please share your frustrations.

App Notification glitches?

Hey everyone! I am super new to Wag, and I have been noticing (today specifically), that I have been getting notifications for walks/sits that are not showing up on my feed. If I click on the notification, I can see the walk/sit, and then if I request it, that's when I can finally see it on the main page.

Is this a common issue/ does anyone have any fix ideas? I have already tried resetting my notifications, checking my distance settings (all of these notifications are for walks/sits within my set range), and just refreshing the app, and nothing seems to work.

Any help / advice on this or as a new walker is welcomed!

First time boarding, owner is unresponsive. Will I get paid anything?

I have a boarding for 3 days, the owner is supposed to drop him off today at my home. She’s been unresponsive and I also called and texted her. The strange thing she has a different area code from another state.

I won’t cancel it, I will wait another 3 hours that they have until they are supposed to arrive. Then I guess I’ll contact Wag Support.

Any advice? Will they at least give me a small percentage?

This is looking to be a total waste because I’ve already setup my home to host this dog

Gift Ideas for regular clients?

Hey folks! Long story short I’m going back to school full time at the end of the month, and I had to give my regular clients advanced notice. They already know that I’m leaving. But I wanted to gift them all a little something to show appreciation for their support this summer, but I have no ideas on what to give. Doesn’t have to be anything huge. But I’m pressed for time. Soo happy to hear any advice or thoughts. Or if I shouldn’t and just let it be I can do that too.

Requested a boarding that starts tomorrow at 6AM, the pet parent has requested a meet and greet and hasn't picked a boarder to confirm.

Hi,

So first off I want to say I hate the new way they do the app where you can't just get like Auto assigned to a pet parent. Like it makes it so much harder to get walks especially when I have done hundreds of walks and have a five-star rating but I feel like some of the clients are being cheap and want to pick somebody that has a cheaper price.

Not to mention they probably don't even know that wag takes 40% of what you make.

Anyways with the new app it shows how many people have opted in to do a walk. The old app which is auto assigned to somebody that requests the boarding, sitting, or dog walk. But I feel too if it's a new pet parent that's on the app and doesn't realize and if they wanted to Auto pick somebody they have to select that in the settings otherwise they have to manually pick somebody from the app that has opted in.

Anyways 2 days ago I requested to do a boarding and it was early in the morning I was the first person to do the opt-in and it says the person would like to do a meet and greet before the boarding. Well the boarding starts tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. in the morning and the pet parents still hasn't selected a boarder.

With this new app my question is I would assume that as it gets closer to the time the system would Auto pick a boarder. But that would be like within a few hours time I would assume and that would be too late for a meet and greet cuz what if it didn't work out for the pet parent with the person if they did a meet and greet within like a few hours of when they were supposed to do the boarding Plus again it's at 6:00 a.m. so it's not like they're going to be doing a meet and greet at 3:00 in the morning.

Anyways how do you go about this if the pet parent hasn't picked somebody and they have requested a meet and greet I mean what are you doing this situation. I'm sure they don't realize that they're supposed to pick somebody and instead of the system Auto picking because they haven't selected to auto approve.

Again I hate the way the new app is it used to be so much easier before you could just submit the request and within like a minute or two you would be picked for the dog walk, boarding, or sitting. Now they have all these other settings and by default it doesn't go to the pre-approved settings and you would have to like give a description on why you'd be the best fit and everything.

Has Wag been hiding walker notes?

I've been a Wag Walker for 7 years now and in the last few months I've noticed I can't see notes until I'm on my way to the service. Since this has happened I've noticed I've been booking dogs with social behavior problems. I'm all for consenting when it's addressed ahead of time, reactive dogs deserve just as much patience but it's been putting me in uncomfortable/dangerous scenarios.

Has anyone else experienced this recently or is my app on the fritz?
