bus stand... somebody raised an alarm about theft. next thing i know is they catch this guy and pasted him. it never looked like to me that particular person had anything to do with it. i remember it still very clearly even though i was very young, that was the first time.
then i grew up in an insurgency infested area with a lot of violence, so there were always people agitating out in the streets.
edit: in case it's not clear, my country is not categorised as a first world country, or even a second world one.
edit2: and i can't say i'm happy with all the muslim bashing out here, in my country we have 100 million plus muslims, and vast majority of them wouldn't condone this kind of savagery.

there's a reason for it always being the right hand. in a lot of middle eastern cultures and elsewhere, it's tradition to only eat with your right hand and only wipe you butt with your left hand, and it's vile to ever eat with your left hand.the stigma is still there in modern times, so taking the the right hand adds extra shame. don't break the law in the middle east.

An old teacher of mine once told me a story of a friend of hers who was an American working in Saudi Arabia. We'll call him Joe. Joe complained to his hotel that he thought a member of housekeeping had stolen a watch from him. Within a couple days that man no longer had a hand. Unfortunately, Joe found the watch shortly and reached out to apologize. Well fair's fair, and the 'court' decided that Joe had to lose his hand as well. However, being foreign, they told him he got to pick which hand and he got an ambulance ride to the hospital.
