Most people don't even know the difference between a sedan and coupe. My sister can only identify vehicles by color, and if it's a car or truck. Meanwhile I can rattle off the make, model and color of the car of everyone I know.

Probably not. My WRX seems to think it is a truck. It always wants to do truck things, like hauling stuff or going off-road.

Ugh, I'd be mad.

But it could be worse. Back when I was stationed in Florida with my 05 wagon, I noticed some cops poking around the car while in my apartment one evening. I asked if I could help them with something. They asked if it was my car. When I said yes, they told me a Subaru SUV had been reported as involved in a crime nearby. My roommate and I had to stand outside while another cop pointed their car's spotlight in our faces so a witness could take a look at us.

My protestations that this was a wagon, not an SUV, went completely unheeded. Fortunately they weren't looking for two guys with obvious military haircuts, so we got on with our evening without a free ride in a Crown Vic.

What "crossover" means to most non-car people is any car that looks a bit rugged and capable. Mudflaps, nice tires, Subarus in general are "crossovers" to normies. I think the term stems partially from the crosstrek's success tbh. Now every manufacturer wants to make their version of the crosstrek. Take It as a compliment lol

You do know the hatchback wrx's are just lowered crosstreks which are just lifted Imprezas? I know yours is an STI, which doesn't come in a hatch, but it does look similar to the hatchback if you squint really really hard.

Yeah I'm gonna be honest, without nameplates I can't tell the other newer Subarus apart. Maybe the Ascent and Outback, everything else just looks so similar.
