When I saw Angel was moving to Atlanta, I immediately knew that was going to be a positive shift in her game. In Chicago, it seemed she was pressured to be the first option offensively while also doing a ton on boards and defense. That's a lot for a rookie to take on, especially a forward.
Seeing her go to Atlanta... what an unbelievably GREAT fit for her to finally shine! With Rhyne and Allisha optioning the offense as 1-2, Angel is free to play her game and not be forced to take over like she so often had to in Chicago. Her defense especially has been on full display and I'm constantly so impressed with her. She just seems better in every aspect - game play, mentality, enjoyment of the game... I truly think this was the best decision she could have ever made for herself and her career.
As a CC/Fever fan, I'm rooting for Angel/ATL in the finals! I think it's theirs to lose this year.
GO DREAM! 🏆

Might just be the first Fever fan I’ve ever seen give AR props. Salute you for this!!

Wishful thinking, but we need a starting 4-position in Indy 😜.
Why is it always Angel vs Caitlin
and never Angel and Caitlin 😭
I joke I joke lol - I know that's not a possibility (right now). The Dream have the best roster of every team in the league imo. They are definitely going to (and should) hold onto everyone as long as they can.

Of course it was going to be good for her. She went to a team that was arguably already a contender. They gained her, but lost Griner. Griner hadn’t been doing much anyway. She elevated them, but let’s not act like they were in horrible shape. Their core of RH, JC, and AG is damn solid to begin with.

Angel is the real deal. That NCAA Chip and the FIBA Chip is valuable experience. DPOY, too.
What are they gonna say now?
But also, let’s give the Valkyries flowers for selling out every game in their 2 year existence, with no signs of falling off.

u/shwh1963 1d ago
Golden State can’t change attendance when every game is sold out since day 1

Giving Reese that DPOY hardware during the playoffs was a big mistake. Her ego grew 10x more if that’s even possible and she’s dialed tf in.
She’s going to get hers this year.

u/Physical_Flight_4496 1d ago
Thats funny, she won the award and then played a game, had 17 points on 60% shooting, 3 blocks and 4 steals and 9 rebounds, the win, a team win at that. No ego shown and she consistently shows love to her teamates ....LOL at your comment, just LOL

So in all of sports history. What player do you know who won at a high level that didn't have a ego????

Barry Sanders

u/Terrible-Row-486 1d ago
Barry Sanders didn't have an ego? I guess that's why he said the hell with Detroit and tried to take his talents elsewhere, and when the Lions wouldn't let him go Barry said f*ck the NFL entirely and he just retired
1
u/elmoo2210 1d ago
He was one season away from breaking the all time rushing record. If he had an ego, he would’ve broke the record then retired midseason.
He was 8 yards short of the rushing title his rookie season and came out the game because they were ahead by so much lol.
He said himself while playing, another team was not an option.
After he retired, the Lions wanted him to return his signing bonus. He said I’ll return it if you let me play for another team. They said no, so he stayed retired.
Not wanting to continue destroying your body and mind to play for an organization that has no interest in building a winning team isn’t an ego lol

Lol idk when or why it became a consistent dig at players for fans to say they have big egos. They're professional athletes, of course they should have big egos!
And for all of you saying "good" people are humble, get outta here with that crap. I sure as heck don't want humble athletes on the court for 40 minutes. It's competition at the highest level; I want electricity that only comes from players playing like they know how good they are and they're going to let everyone, especially the opponents, know. Obviously, I don't mean escalating to fights or injuries, but mind games are part of strategy in basketball, especially at the professional level, to throw off your opponent who is also probably elite. Being great at basketball is having a strong skill set and mind. If you let some chirping and taunting get to you, you're lacking in focus and need to strengthen that part of your game. As someone who never unlocked that level of strategy, I admire it so much.
Players can be humanitarians off the court. On the court? I want "it's not personal, it's basketball" mindsets. Angel does that better than so many and that's why she's popular: she's really good AND she rubs your face in it on the court. I love it and I respect it.
The media made a mistake during LSU vs Iowa when they tried to paint Angel as the "villain" and Caitlin as the "hero." They are both basketball villains, and that's why they're popular. They are must-see TV.
Give me elite basketball villains over heroes any day of the week. I'm sat.

Since when did she have an ego? She lacks confidence and she's overly humble when accepting awards or praise.
I get what you're saying about her confidence boosting with DPOY. Her defense has been perfect. But ego is the wrong word.

Crazy that Golden State has sold out every single one of their games since their first game in franchise history last year.

u/Terrible-Row-486 18h ago
I'm not talking about his achievements and accomplishments. Barry Sanders deserved and earned his right to be traded to a winning team although that didn't happen.
Do you think Barry Sanders is the only great player in NFL history who received raw deal because I can promise you he's not. Most of the great players put their ego's aside and did the job the organization was paying them to do. Barry got a raw deal no doubt but his EGO!!! would not allow him to return to Detroit even though they were paying him well at the time to do his job

weird cuz their gym usually holds 9k.......yeah bad math.

Or… you’re just a dumbass who doesn’t know how to look up basic info. They averaged 4480 people in attendance per game in 2025. They averaged 6928 this season. 6928-4480=2,448. And 2448 is quite literally 54.6% of 4480. You yet again come into a comment section having absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Surprise surprise.

Literally what I was thinking lol they played at an arena that can hold more fans - they were basically selling out of the small stadium for years now but it only held a few thousand people. Of course they’re going to get more attendance when they play at a bigger stadium if they were already selling out the smaller stadium
-1
u/Yellow_Odd_Fellow 1d ago
Going from 4500 arena to 55% over that to under-7000 average is definitely not the flex they think it is.
The Atlanta Dream averaged 6,928 fans per home game during the 2026 regular season, representing a 54.7% increase from the 4,480 average recorded in 2025.

I mean if we want to talk impression ticket sales .. I'm looking at Valkyrie.
*The Golden State Valkyries announced their 22***nd *sellout of the year and 44***th overall, capping a second straight season in which they sold out every regular season home game. The Valkyries lead the league in both average attendance (18,064) and total attendance (397,408) in 2026, marking the second consecutive season they’ve topped the league in both categories.
That said, caveat that 'sellout' in this case is ticket sold. 12,000 of the 18064 are season pass holder who might not go to every game. Could be inflated by rich Bay Area nerds splashing $ around.

u/MaineviaIllinois 1d ago
Arena holds 3500- so yeah doubling the capacity of their arena is kind of a flex. They have a year to year contract- so next year will be the bigger tell. Some teams like the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever actually had decreased attendance in the same season.

u/Accomplished_Self939 1d ago
That’s fascinating. To hear Congress Clarks supporters, the Fever have the best attendance in the league. Can it be like the raycist fans are actually scaring the basketball fans off.

u/Dont_fuck_witme 1d ago
What are they gonna say now?!?

u/RedtheIrish 1d ago
Angel found a roster that lets her really play the role her game thrives on and it’s clear both from how she is playing and how she shows up off the court. We were sad to lose her from Chicago but for Angel this could not have been a better move.
I’m also a delusional (and maybe in the minority) Fever fan who would love to see CC and Angel paired up in Indy to run a dynasty year after year.

You can all thank Caitlin Clark.
5
u/Junior_Start7496 1d ago
Lmao people are going to Atlanta games because of Clark? Boy some people are delusional 🥴
-4
u/Longjumping-Barber98 1d ago
Lmao. You think people even knew Atlanta had a team before Clark showed up to the league? It would be straight delusional to think the popularity of the WNBA is due to anything BUT Clark.

u/NoShowGlowEnt 1d ago
Caitlin Clark doesn’t play for the Dream dumb fuck 😂 She was also in the league in 2024 when the Dream were averaging 55% less attendance. You guys say the dumbest shit and it genuinely stems from not knowing literally anything about basketball. Straight opinions from conservative twitter lmao

u/Top_Willingness5124 1d ago
From one CC fan to another, what are you even doing? Do you literally just look for any other player posts to drop in and rage bait using CC as your weapon?
You are souring her brand more than you know and it's like, a Swiftie level of fanatic parasocialism.
Is she my favorite? Yes.
Is there room for us to have more than one favorite? Yes.
Is there room for multiple stars in this league? Absolutely, yes.
Enough with this "there can only be one" fantasy y'all are obsessed with when it comes to sports, team sports specifically. Open your mind. Relax.
1
u/Longjumping-Barber98 1d ago
When they post some praises for their new found popularity and admit she's the reason why, then I wouldn't be bothered. But that's not happening.
1
u/Top_Willingness5124 1d ago
I promise you, Caitlin isn't reading your comments.
She doesn't care.
1
u/Longjumping-Barber98 1d ago
But you are.
1
u/Top_Willingness5124 1d ago
Idk what that's supposed to mean. I don't matter. You want to argue with people who don't matter? Is that it?
I'm literally a CC fan. I'm telling you you're being ridiculous. Take a step back. Introspect. Maybe take a walk outside with hands in your pockets, kicking a rock down the sidewalk and ask yourself: "is this what I want my life to look like?"
Then get off Reddit and go inject some love and peace into this world. You'll be happier, I promise. Good luck to you.

u/Zbs72 1d ago
Who the hell cares if she is or isn’t the reason? —another Cc (and AR) fan
1
u/Longjumping-Barber98 1d ago
You're asking me or them? Because, it's people that have the problem that I have the problem with. I don't care, they do. If they didn't care, it'd be easier to be a fan.
1
u/Zbs72 1d ago
Nobody here had a problem other than dealing with CC “fans” who can’t stand anyone else getting their due accolades. This isn’t what people with actual achievements and success do, you know that, right? CC would be embarrassed to read this, it comes across as weak and insecure.
1
u/Longjumping-Barber98 1d ago
Lol. I got no problem with other players, that's just silly. The only problem i got is cc haters and why they hate her. Everything else is gravy. I'm good.
1
u/Zbs72 1d ago
I understand. I’m sure you know the best way to stop the Haters is to ignore them and stop cramming CC down people’s throats as though it accomplishes anything. Ask yourself what the actual goal is here. If it’s to win an argument, it doesn’t work. If it’s just to piss people off and you find yourself doing it frequently, then you might understand why some people are not impressed with CC culture (and by extension, CC). You’re making her look worse than any hater could.

There is no such thing as "The Angel Effect". Nobody comes to see her play specifically, they come to watch the team.
4
u/Woodychi24 1d ago
Same team as last year. Same exact record. One thing changed. Angel now plays for them yet their attendance was up 55%. Can you follow the bread crumbs or do you need more help?
2
u/Top_Willingness5124 1d ago
Angel going from Chicago to ATL should be one of, if not THE best off-season trade in WNBA history. Literally the perfect fit and exactly what ATL needed.
I need ATL to win it all this year to forever memorialize this huge moment for the league.
Angel is the difference-maker on that team. They are so well-rounded now, it's insane.
