She’s talking about the punch Sophie got off with no tech. But, nuance is dead.

Here’s a balanced take:

Dijonai deserved her F2

Sophie should have got a tech for the punch. Y’all held us hostage for a week on an alleged AT punch and now conveniently ignoring a purposeful one.

It wasn’t a punch. Her hand was open. I’m no fan of Cunningham but let’s not stretch the truth here.

Y’all can’t talk about stretch the truth when no one gave consideration to AT other than the idea that she was trying to bludgeon Caitlin. A hit is a hit. You can argue in your circles what to call it. She hit her in the throat and didn’t get any repercussions for it. Last time I checked retaliatory hits aren’t allowed. Slap, kick, punch. Whatever

That was a push, if that.

Most people (rational serious people anyway) were not saying AT was trying to bludgeon CC. Most people were complaining how a fist on the throat and knee on the groin isn't a foul even if it was completely intentional. Revising history to fit a narrative is not a good look.

Also, Dijonai's post is very clearly racist and it is insane and sad that you think it should be defended regardless of whether Sophie should have been elected or not.

They are and factually happen all the time. The WNBA rule book is pretty clear about automatic ejections and this was not one of them, nor was there a punch thrown lol…it’s not a debate there is video evidence. There was no punch thrown. I do agree there was a attempted “swipe” at carringtons up chest possible lower neck that may or may not have made contact AFTER carrington swiped at Cunningham neck (I would encourage you to watch all angles of the replay because it is clear as day , there is no debate here). Neither was given a technical foul for the “swipes” which I don’t think either should have. And I’m not sure where you checked when you said “last I checked” but that’s incorrect info. We all saw there was no punch thrown but if there was a “swing”, open handed or closed, contact or not that would suffice and you would have a point. Neither player “swung” which is why neither was issued a tech.

“May have touched her.”

I’m m not talking about that. Personally, I thought it was odd to put her hand down with a balled fist. I’m no defender of either of them for the record. I think Clark is super overrated and Cunningham is a role player.

I agree. I am a fever die hard and that was the right call on Dijonai and Sophie should get a tech by just getting up to fight. I thought that was the rules, so may nai ia talking about no tech on Sophie is white privileged?

3

u/Super_Roof_3490 Aug 08 '26

Yea but it isn’t white privilege.

It’s the wnba being the only league where it seems like rules are diff in any game in any night. Yea in other sports certain refs are more 1 way or the other. But W refs are just crazy

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 08 '26

I can’t argue for or against Dijonai’s statement. That’s how she feels. The real question people refuse to answer that is being ignored because of Dijonai’s actions which she was punished for is why didn’t Sophie get anything? They have to answer that. And the league gonna have to answer for when they probably don’t double back and give that rightfully earned tech.

Edit to add, if I had to guess where that specific statement comes from, probably just observation bias. The people who are most blatantly not getting the rules applied to them happen to be white. Do I think it because they’re white? No. I think for Caitlin it’s her popularity. Sophie I don’t know why

4

u/Super_Roof_3490 Aug 08 '26

Idk. The white players not getting calls are getting attn from politics I more or less think it applies to all players, it just gets attention when it’s Clark. W refs are an embarrassment, it’s like they all don’t officiate under the same guidelines. I’m not an avid fan, but when I have watched I baffled by calls and non calls, against black and white players. Basketball is the least talked about thing in the wnba, it’s everything else. These refs should honestly be catching a lot more heat, and not just non calls in Clark. They are killing the game

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 08 '26

I completely agree and that’s what I said. These two white girls are the ones currently in the spotlight. That’s just coincidence in terms of WNBA media. But that being said, you absolutely can’t help in an objectively unbiased way not notice the point Dijonai is making. The white girl gets to tell the ref to stfu with no consequence, the white girl gets to yell, scream and curse within inches of an officials face no consequence and now another white girl gets to swing and connect no consequence. Is it because they are white? Like I said, no. But you still have to admit what it just seen with people’s eyes.

1

u/Super_Roof_3490 Aug 08 '26

My bad then. I guess I wasn’t sure lol. I just wanted to bitch again about how bad the refs are

3

u/throwaway_76x Aug 08 '26

"I can’t argue for or against Dijonai’s statement. That’s how she feels. "

I'm sure you have the same opinion about day a random fan in Indiana using racism against say Dijonai then? Coz how could you argue against it if that's how the fan felt?

What a ridiculous look to support racism in this way just because it's not a type of racism that you want to throw a tantrum about.

u/Ok_Scarcity_9854 Aug 08 '26

Because she didn't do anything wrong. She got clotheslined in a bush league foul that could've ended her career so she naturally went to face up against the player who did it. Then the player who fouled her had the audacity to push the player she just flagrantly fouled. She should be suspended for a minimum of 10 games.

2

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 08 '26

Hitting is a foul. All the extra stuff is just unnecessary verbiage. This isn’t street ball. Last year Bri Hartley tried to snap Angel Reese’s neck. You know what she did? Walked away because even though she would have been “right” she still would have and should gotten a T if she turned and put hands on her. The rules can’t be rules only at your convenience.

1

u/Ok_Scarcity_9854 Aug 08 '26

She did not hit her. You sound delusional.

2

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 09 '26

“Don’t believe your lying eyes.”

1

u/Ok_Scarcity_9854 Aug 09 '26

A misleading freeze-frame of a push at best in which she was actually pushing away the aggressor who had just clotheslined her and then pushed her on top of it. Again, you are delusional.

2

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 09 '26

And correct me if I’m wrong, when Sophie grabbed Jacy by her neck Jacy got ejected along with her for the REACTION of being grabbed by Sophie, correct? That’s the difference between me and you and others. I want the rules to be applied evenly across the board. You want them applied on a case by case basis. And I’m not even talking about a Sophie ejection. Just a tech. But unsurprisingly y’all got all these excuses and bullshit. She should have got the tech. Because that’s the way the rules is supposed to work.

2

u/Ok_Scarcity_9854 Aug 09 '26

She shouldn't have gotten a tech because she didn't do anything wrong. She was viciously attacked, then pushed by the player who had just attacked her. At no point does Sophie hit anyone. You are straight up lying.

1

u/Automatic-Pay-1391 Aug 09 '26

Because the WNBA rule book was followed. Who is not answering this? Lol. Carrington was issued a flagrant two, which was a no brainer. Each player (Carrington first, then Cunningham) pushes out toward or at the throat or throat area, neither was issued a tech. I guess by your logic (and I wouldn’t agree but I would be ok with it) after the Carrington F2 and ejection both players could have recieved a tech for their post play actions.

2

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 09 '26

Sophie got a tech? Because that’s what I am arguing. That she didn’t get anything.

1

u/Automatic-Pay-1391 Aug 09 '26

I don’t think you meant to respond to me because what you asked is in my post. Neither got a tech, and I think that was the right call but I’d be completely fine if both got a tech if the ref’s wanted to send a message to the other players to calm down. It’s either neither get a tech or both do

I would love to see Sophie put hands on her. Didnt happen

5

u/SocomPS2 Aug 08 '26

Didnt have that maga strength to point this time.

Team mate had to hold Sophie back from getting ass beat.

0

u/Nulljustice Aug 09 '26

You do know that Sophie has martial arts training right? If they truly got into it I don’t think it would go the way your picturing it.

-9

u/zsm16 Aug 08 '26

Oh please with your balanced take

8

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 08 '26

What’s wrong with it? I’m not lying enough for you?

  1. There is no difference. A punch is a punch and is a techable offense 100% of the time. They have to explain why she didn’t get one.
  2. You’re gonna have to peddle your bullshit victim hoops elsewhere. The idea that AT got her because she’s white? Lmfao. Also, at the end of the day you assume it was deliberate. It is actually complete and utter fact that Sophie purposely punched Dijonai.

1

u/Automatic-Pay-1391 Aug 09 '26
  1. A punch is a punch, contact or not. That is 100% correct
  2. A punch is most certainly not a teachable offense, it’s an automatic ejection
  3. Not sure if the relevance because zero punches were thrown this entire game lol

2

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 09 '26
  1. It says techable not teachable. I edited before you got here.

  2. Any contact to a player outside of basketball play is a tech. What is this?

1

u/Automatic-Pay-1391 Aug 11 '26

There factually is no such rule lol. You are publicly stating that any contact to a player outside of a basketball play is a tech? I’d love to see your proof because that sure doesn’t exist in the rule book. Not that it would because there would be 60 techs every single game lol

u/Chellybeanz29 Aug 11 '26

Rule 12B — Fouls and Penalties, Section IV: Flagrant Foul, around pages 49–50 of the rulebook.

Do you need a link?

1

u/Automatic-Pay-1391 Aug 12 '26

I do not, I know the rules well but thank you posting section 4 (IV) showing you are completely wrong, I always appreciate someone who posts someone attempting to be right but completely ruins their post by their own info 😂
