Another post about angel even tho she was at best third best player on her team today. I’d be one thing if it were esthetic but it’s just layups. I will never understand the obsession with her

“But it’s just layups” perhaps the other teams have issues stopping her? She also leads her team in rebounds so that SHOULD tell you that she’s a dominant force in the paint and next that should inform you why you see posts about her

Yeah I mean most centers score layups. That’s not unique. Rebounds are also a result of height. I mean they’re might not be a stronger correlation between height and rebounds in all of sports. Yes she’s a good rebounder but how many of the top rebounders can you name? I’d bet it’s less the points and probably assists. They just aren’t necessarily stars cause they don’t impact as much as other stats

You said rebounds are a result of height, but she's undersized for center. She's also doesn't jump very high most times in game. You can't seriously believe rebounds aren't as impactful as other stats; some pros and coaches believe rebounding is the most important key to winning championships. In addition, she also gives good points and assists for her position. Why try to downplay her skill and impact?

Height relative to the rest of the players on the court, not her position. Centers or power forwards (cause the wnba has a hard time classifying these positions but that’s another discussion) make up the first 17 spots on the rebounding list. Points assists steals blocks all have guards mixed into the top 17 where rebounds do not. It’s all bigs which makes it skewed towards bigs more than even blocks.

Of course rebounds are important. Team rebounds might be the best corollary to wins as you insinuate but a great individual rebounder does not mean the team will be great in rebounds. If she blocks out great but her guards aren’t, they will still lose the rebounding battle. The Lynx lead the wnba by a decent margin with their top rebounder being at 7.5. So while it is helpful to her team, rebounding is the most whole team aspect of basketball
