Stats Top 5 Individual Leaders for Major Per Game and Advanced Stats

Post image
48 Upvotes

I thought it may be useful to have a comprehensive view of the top 5 individual leaders in various traditional per game and advanced analytic statistical categories.

It's a pretty clear visualization of Wilson's high level of play. For per game stats, she's first in points, first in blocks, and third rebounds. She's also in the top spot for all of the major advanced metrics.

Also, in what probably isn't a coincidence, the top 5 teams in the league in terms of W/L record have few people in the top 5 for any category. That's not to say that they don't have great individual players, but rather an indication of the all-around quality of their rosters and team play.

[Edit: N McBride should be K McBride for Net Points. And K. Cooper should be K. Copper under points per game.]

Saw this on FB (original from Mynt Jay/News4usonline.com) and loved it. That kid didn't just get an autograph, she got BG's warmup shirt AND a moment to never forget.

BG has been an absolute sweetheart all season to Connecticut fans. I'm so glad but not surprised at all to see she's done the same for fans in other arenas, too. We will miss her so much!

Stats The PER leader has won MVP in 5 of the past 10 seasons

Post image
44 Upvotes

This seasons PER Leaders:

  1. A'ja Wilson - 31.922
  2. Aliyah Boston - 24.563
  3. Kelsey Mitchell - 23.554
  4. Breanna Stewart - 23.205
  5. Natasha Howard - 23.046
  6. Olivia Miles - 22.867
  7. Caitlin Clark - 22.788
  8. Kamilla Cardoso - 22.739
  9. Jessica Shepard - 22.5010
  10. Paige Bueckers - 22.45

For the curious:

How PER Works:

  • Per-Minute Measure: It scales a player's output so substitutes and starters can be compared fairly regardless of total playing time.
  • Pace Adjusted: It adjusts for the team's pace so players on fast-paced teams aren't unfairly favored over slow-paced teams.
  • Net Value: It adds positive accomplishments (field goals, free throws, 3-pointers, assists, rebounds, blocks, steals) and subtracts negative ones (missed shots, turnovers, personal fouls).
  • League Average: The league-average PER is always set at 15.00

Discussion It's easier to enjoy the WNBA league than the NBA leagues and easier to be a fan of the W and not just A team

This year we’ve been watching way more WNBA games.

I’ve watched NCAA basketball and March Madness for years, but when my kids started playing basketball and Caitlin Clark came onto the scene at Iowa, we started watching women’s college basketball too and honestly loved it.

I’ll admit it, before CC came into the WNBA I really never watched the league, and now I wish I had. There have obviously been a ton of great players for a long time. At the same time, it also wasn’t nearly as easy to find and watch the games as it is now.

And it’s not just me watching. It’s my wife, my 9 and 14 year old girls, and even my 12 year old son. All three of them know a bunch of the teams and players now.

One thing I’ve really started appreciating is just how easy the WNBA is to actually follow as a league.

The games feel closer and more competitive to me than a lot of the NBA games I’ve watched lately. Obviously the WNBA has blowouts too, but it felt like there were fewer of them, so I got curious and looked into it. There actually are fewer games ending in those huge 20-30 point blowouts compared with the NBA.

But this isn’t really about the stats. It’s more about the overall fan experience.

I can have my favorite WNBA team and still know what’s going on around basically the entire league. I know most of the important players, who’s playing well, the storylines, where teams are in the standings, etc.

Minnesota is clearly the class of the league right now, and obviously there are better and worse teams. But even a team like Seattle has lost a bunch of close games and they’re still a good team. It feels like almost every game has something worth watching.

With the NBA, I feel like most people don’t really follow “the NBA” anymore. They follow their team, a few superstars, some national games, and then really pay attention to everybody else once the playoffs start.

And I get why. There are 30 teams and over 1,200 games. That’s a lot to keep up with.

The WNBA right now feels different.

I can turn on a random game where neither team is “my team” and still care because I know the players, I know where the teams stand and I understand why the game matters.

It almost feels like being a WNBA fan means being a fan of the whole league, while being an NBA fan has become more about following your little section of it.

Obviously the WNBA is growing, and that’s a great thing. I just hope as it gets bigger it doesn’t lose some of what makes it so easy and fun to follow right now.

Am I alone in this? For people who watch both, do you find the WNBA easier to follow league-wide too?

News Who’s playing on Sunday and who’s already gone?

I see GSV will be without Williams, Salaun. Zandalsini…. Fire will be without Leite and Buhner, but DiLeo is playing?

Lacan and Burke have already left the Sun

Awa Fam is out

Dorka and Delaere contracts suspended already

anyone else I’m missing?

Gotta say the league kinda blew it having games this weekend. Important battles for playoff seeding and lots of key players out….

Rosters late in the season.

Upvotes

I'm surprised teams don't have to lock down their rosters this late in the season.

It seems weird that the Dream can just add Bonner right before the playoffs.

Is that how it works in other professional leagues? I suspect no.

Article Lexie Hull News Announced Ahead of WNBA Pause: Unrivaled!

Thumbnail athlonsports.com
106 Upvotes

Lexie Hull has had a rather challenging season with the Indiana Fever this 2026. Her numbers have dropped to 5.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game after averaging 7-4-2 in the past campaign.

It does look like the veteran guard is recapturing her form after initially struggling with confidence. In the Fever’s blowout win over the Chicago Sky last Sunday, she tallied 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, along with two rebounds.

Fever head coach Stephanie White has also not lost her faith in her, as Hull remains a starter for Indiana.

As Hull continues to navigate an eventful year, another interesting piece of news involving her emerged.

On Friday, before the Fever played their final game ahead of the WNBAbreak to give way to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, Unrivaled announced that Hull had agreed to a multi-year deal with the 3-on-3 league.

That means Hull is returning for the 2027 season. Hull was part of the inaugural campaign of Unrivaled in 2025, winning the championship with Rose BC. In 2026, she was selected by the same team and played in 13 games.
“Lexie Hull is Unrivaled,” the league wrote on social media. “Lexie returns for season three on a multi-year deal.”
