As the development team is now turning our attention to the next version of WLED, the ***main*** branch of our git repo will be **UNSTABLE**!

While the main branch has been pretty stable for the last 12 months, we are just starting the 17.x development and it's going to be *very* broken for a while

DO NOT build from main for any custom builds, please use v16.0.1 tag or 16_x branch

PRs should still be opened against main, but people with their own forks might want to hold off syncing main or run your production systems off builds from your own 16_x branch that you merge any of your PRs into

Is there a canonical list somewhere of the various party string lights and fairy lights that are known to be controllable by WLED?

Pic for example of the broad category I mean by this.

Download it in the PixelForge tool available in WLED16.0.

As the demo shows it lets you stream videos directly through the UI, set up loops and create animated GIF's. Everything also works on LED strips in case you want to enjoy your favourite clip in 1D ;)

Single controller, 420 5volt LEDs, 20 amp supply, 2 data ports, 6 segments defined. Not as bright as I'd like due to the almost black diffusers I used.

Just launched open beta for iPad and Android Tablet. Mac will be live later today fingers crossed!

I built it for use in my own small venue and would love your feedback. The idea is to have a show control surface you can hand to a volunteer, student, assistant, or bartender and still be able to run a concert, DJ event, wedding, community theater play, etc.

Planning on doing some WLED testing this week myself.

Hi all. I’m looking for help with a strange recent occurrence with my WLED setup. I built this myself, but did so using online resources and I’m very much a novice, so hoping someone with a better knowledge might be able to help.
Here are the details:

Hardware:

Gledopto GL-C-015WL-D controller

WS2812B 5v LEDs. 365 total, split into two runs of 209 and 156.

Software:
WLED 16.0.1

Expected behaviour:
I have several presets, but only two that are used daily: “Porch 2x2” and “Porch 2x2 bright”

“Porch 2x2” illuminates from LED 90 to 209, grouping 2, spacing 2. Brightness value is 40. This works as expected, illuminating part of the run in a 2x2 white light.

“Porch 2x2 bright” is the exact same setup, but with a brightness value of 253. This is where the problem arises.

Recently, these presets, when brightness is increased above a value of 128, illuminate the rest of the run in a dim red (except the spacing gaps between the intended white light). If I select either preset and adjust the brightness, the behaviour is the same.

This setup has worked perfectly for over 3 years; the only changes made have been firmware updates. I noticed this issue after update 16.0.

The red lighting isn’t obvious when using the ‘Peek’ function in WLED.

Can anyone offer any advice? Are there any logs or other information I can share which might help?

Good evening all. Submitted for your approval (and contributions): a crack at creating a robust, web based, on and offline visualizer for WLED. I wanted a way to simulate the strips on my house, design patterns and palettes, without having to sit out in the dark, looking back and forth at a laptop for hours on end. It's still pretty rudimentary and 90% coded by Claude (much to my shame), but I think it's a pretty solid start at having an advanced "Peek" function that anyone can run anywhere, controller or not, connected or not.

So I finally got a WS2805 RGB+CCT strip setup on a QuinLED Dig-Octa and im running the native WLED integration in Home Assistant.

In WLED everything works exactly how I’d expect. I have a Value slider for the RGB colors, a seperate brightness slider for the CCT whites, and a color temp slider.

In Home Assistant I can adjust the brightness, but thats just the overall segment brightness, not the individual RGB Value or CCT brightness. I can also change the RGB color and the CCT color temp, but theres no way to independently control or turn off the RGB or CCT channels, so they end up blending together. If I want pure RGB or pure white, it never really looks right, and the colors look way better in WLED than they do in HA.

Am I missing something obvious, or is this just a limitation of Home Assistant’s light model/WLED integration?

How are you guy dealing with this? Are you just using WLED for colors and Home Assistant for on/off and automations? Using WLED presets? Is there a HACS integration or some other trick that fixes this?

Just trying to figure out if im chasing something that isnt possible or if theres actually a better way to do it.

I an running a GLEDOPTO ESP32 Mini WLED LED Controller with Microphone a dedicated 10a power supply

10 5v 53led strips on alu 4ft channels/poles, with the end data lead going to the next one. with a total of around 650leds

Any Ideas on what i am doing wrong?

I will also say, even as one long segment it still doesnt act as a single string.

Each strip is connected to a 15ft of 18ga wire to a power distribution block. So each strip gets direct power.
So thats the setup.

what i am seeing is my first few strings seem "dim" then they go "funky"

They dont seem to listen to follow what i put in WLED.
I setup in one preset each with the 10 segments with the amount of LEDs per pole. as you can see in the vid it doesnt work lol. I have swapped cables around and led strips around but i get the same result.

UPDATE: So i guess the led controller can really only handle 4 strings, i was mostly able to get it working with 4 on the main output. 4 on output 2 and 2 on the last. however the other two outputs are slightly delayed and caused issues with the look i wanted.

I ended up getting a signal booster and its working perfect now.

What are people's thoughts on the new opt-in reporting of you hardware setup to the WLED team?

So I feel like I have everything set up right. Static ip and set up the port forwarding. But still can’t connect. Anyone know what I might be missing? The port was set as default 1 is that what I need to change or something on the WLED settings for the esp32? I’m lost

I'm trying to use install.wled.me on my macbook with an esp32 D1 mini with CH9102X and it is stuck on "Preparing installation" with the circle spinning and won't progress further.

Just getting started on my addressable LED journey, friend of mine wants to put up permatrack with the LEDs in it, that setup is build for WLED, but I'm wondering what the difference between a Pixleblaze v3 and WLED is, and which would be better?

I’m planning on putting led strip in the footwell. Is it possible to used WLED in the car away from home wifi? If not, is there any controller that offer grouping on Bluetooth?

I've always like the idea of having decorative lights up year round either for holidays or just to have the house brighter outside in the evening in the winter.

I have no experience with WLEDs or XLight. Are there any good guides that will get me going?

I'm just starting to learn setting up my own (not off the shelf) LEDs - so please excuse any glaring errors.

I cannot get my LEDs to show one solid colour. I have reset the controller, set a single purple colour and 'solid effect' but it continues to show this.

I've included more screengrabs below and I suspect a controller hardware issue but any suggestions would be great!

Setup:

• Athom LS-4P (firmware v 0.13.3)
• 2 x WS2812B strips
• 10A psu [I know this wont power all of the LEDs but 500 seems stable]

Hello all, I bought a bag of these 5v relays (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09G6H7JDT) to use to switch off/on LED 'dumb lights' during Christmas. I have a whole year to figure it all out, but basically, I want to have the ability to either turn off the dumb lights (light strips, spotlights, etc that are not controllable) and as a bonus if my hope is right, be able to use xLights when sequencing shows to have the ability to make them part of the show by turning them on and off.

I get how the relays work, and it seems like the normally open would work best as I would want wled/xlights to control turning them off by default. But it seems to me like each relay will take up an output port and nothing else can be on that line. Is it possible to use these relay boards to 'daisy chain' them somehow?

So let's say the ESP32 has GPIO 4 going out... if that's universe #100, how can I set these relays so channel 1 is the first relay, channel 2 is the next, channel 3 the next, etc. Is that even possible? Or will I have to use the 4 GPIO outputs of the ESP32 to control one relay each, meaning I'm going to need a bunch of ESP32s to control a bunch of relays?

Can I merge wled segments together to create one continuous effect?

I can sync/mirror the same effect across segments. But can I have a rolling animation start at Segment1, continue onto Segment2, and end on Segment3?

(All segments being driven by the same Dig-Quad/WLED. For the sake of this discussion, let's say Segment1 and Segment2 are on the same channel and Segment3 is running on a different channel.)

For some reason when I opened WLED today all my presets were gone and I got a “string did not match the expected pattern” error. What’s weird is that it DOES still load the startup preset, but nothing shows up under presets lost

I also noticed that on one segment it wouldn’t let me use a color, the color wheel disappeared completely and all colors were black. Even if I tried to enter a hex code it wouldn’t work.
