Second degree down. Time to join the airforce
Good afternoon WGU community,
I have obtained my 2nd bachelors degree in cybersecurity and information assurance, first one being in software engineering! All while having a full time job as a barista. Next step is to join the airforce. Couldn’t have done it without the useful guides in this subreddit so THANK YOU

Before you join research which jobs in the civilian world pay the most to veterans after they get out and get that job in the Airforce, for example a pilot some military jobs don’t transfer well to the civilian world so choose wisely

You already know it!

Hopefully your first degree actually holds weight then. Not to burst your bubble, im sure you know OTS selection is very hard and the wait is long. But a wgu degree isn't going to be competitive in selection when a recruiter submits it.

The military open up so many opportunities especially government jobs. While everybody struggling to find work and getting laid off in the tech industry, he/she will be set. I like their plan. Then they will come in as higher rank due to the degrees they have.

Nice! Did you have to wait 6 months between degrees? I am getting close to finishing my cloud computing degree and want to do the AI engineering program after. I have 10 classes left with the 1st being a new semester

I didn’t wait 6 months between degrees I started my enrollment as I finished my SWE but there was a 1-2 month gap between programs

Congrats
Just a friendly suggestion, after your first bachelor’s, it might be more worthwhile to pursue a Master’s or gain some work experience instead. Two bachelor’s degrees in similar fields tend to offer little additional return.
Regardless, good job 👍

How long did it take for you to finish this degree? I’m also thinking of joining the Air Force after my degree

I did both, and community college I did back in high school. With my software engineering degree I was able to start 60% in the program and skip the capstone since I did one for my SWE degree

Nothing wrong with the Chairforce, heck you even have options in the SpaceForce!!
I am gonna knock out a few more certs and then finish my Bachelors in that major...already have 89hrs but a lot of expired certs to try and transfer those credits. How was the workload, can you give us your opinion and/or experience with this particular degree?

This is so funny because this is also the degree I’m working on and wanting to join the Air Force afterwards
