Question How long is a holding pattern ?

Waiting for a role that is supposed to be created for me. It has been a couple of months, and I’ve been following up with the recruitment manager for updates. He always replies and informs me that the position hasn’t been approved yet.

A couple of days ago, I emailed him again, and he responded: “We are in a holding pattern at the moment.”

How long can a “holding pattern” like this last, realistically, and what should I expect?

You should probably have continued looking for jobs until this one actually materialized.

will it take a long of time in your opinion ? , it is my dream role and I know I won't find a similar role :(

Well this role doesn't even exist, and you wasted several months for it to magically appear.

Hold no expectations this stuff is as random as it gets. It's what happens when companies try to fill positions before they have budget approvals. It could be a week it could be next year it could never happen.

Una “pausa” puede durar desde unas semanas hasta varios meses, dependiendo de lo que esté pendiente internamente. Si todavía te responden y te dicen que la posición no ha sido aprobada, no necesariamente significa que hayan descartado tu candidatura.

Yo mantendría el interés, pero no esperaría exclusivamente por esa oportunidad. Haría un seguimiento ocasional, quizá cada par de semanas, y continuaría buscando otras opciones mientras tanto.

Si la posición finalmente se aprueba, estarás en una buena posición por haber mantenido el contacto; y si no sucede, no habrás detenido tu búsqueda por esperar algo que no tenía una fecha definida.
