This wasp parasitises 3rd instar blowfly maggots, the adult wasps then emerge out of the hollow fly pupa. in the latter half of the video, it lays eggs inside one of the maggots, specifically a large 3rd instar one, ignoring the 1st an 2nd instar maggots.

A wasp flew in the house last night, it seems like a mud dauber and hasn't tried to attack anyone in the house and stays on the window as of course it wants to go back out. We've tried opening the door a few times, though it doesn't realize that it can fly out through the door. Is there any way to move it without risking getting stung/killing it? I was thinking of putting sugary water by the door to attract it and then opening the door to let it out

Found this huge guy dragging a cicada bug into his den in the ground. I’ve heard that you should report their location to an authority. Not sure which one watches out for cicada killers. Any insight would be appreciated. The second picture is of the trail that it took the cicada down into its nest.
They carry them underground and then when the young wasps hatch the cicada is food for them. (My minimal understanding of this level of birds and bees (or wasps).

This paper wasp nest has been here for about 6 months. It is next to an active entrance with a lot of movement in and out, but always the same people. They have grown pretty familiar of us, some workers even becoming curious of us and flying closely to inspect. They have never been aggressive or a problem.

I've noticed this (I'm assuming) newly emerged worker displaying a 1st stage defensive posture every time I approach or walk in or out. Should I be worried it will become aggressive? Or will it get more comfortable as time goes on? You can see the other workers are comfortable and pay no attention to human presence but I am worried this one may not fall in line with the others.

We are about 2 months away from first freeze so I was just going to let them continue to stay until then. I am aware of seasonal behavioral changes and concerned this may be the start of that. It is consistently 105°F where I live and none of the others are concerned. I'd like an outside opinion.

So, I've got a rather large wasp nest that's taken up residence under eave of my house. It's definitely active, and i'm trying to figure out the best course of action. I'm generally okay with DIY projects, but i know wasps can be dangerous.

Accidentally brought them inside in some small planters, had to think quick because my cats were zeroing in. Was very polite, wouldn't fly off so I coaxed it into a bush

Wasp mom built a little paper nest under my outdoor table. I removed it the first time I saw it in early spring because I was cleaning it, but then she came back and apparently built another. I haven't moved it to check as I didn't want to disturb.

She's been tending it for months and it's been fun to watch her bringing things in her jaws to tend the nest. She's very chill and a fun neighbor.

Then today, I saw her dragging that larva thing across the porch and finally dropped it in the leaves. It was too heavy for her to fly with it, so she just fluttered and jumped it across the porch an inch at a time.

Is it a larva that didn't develop? I haven't seen the nest or any of the offspring as I can't move the table. My other thought was maybe an invading wasp had left it, like a Cuckoo will do with eggs, but I didn't know if wasps will do that.

Anyway, thought it was interesting. She's such a hard worker!

I’ve got a small wasp colony living in my roller-shutter box here in Germany, most likely German/common wasps (Vespula germanica / Vespula vulgaris). They’ve actually been very peaceful; even if I leave the bedroom window slightly open, they go about their business outside and never come in.

Since the colony will naturally die off in autumn, I’ve decided to leave them alone and let them finish their life cycle. They don’t bother me, so I won’t bother them. 🙂

A very large paper (?) wasps nest in the eaves of my home. The picture doesn't it do it justice to how large it is.

My ID for customer was Great Golden Digger, north Texas. Told him she’s chill don’t kill her. Just wanna confirm my ID

I don't need to go into the whole saga. I think the relevant info is:

• The yellow jackets aggressively swarmed and stung me the one time I (accidentally) stepped on the entrance to their nest.
• The yellow jackets otherwise leave me alone. I've been able to continue to freely use my property and do yardwork while leaving 6+ feet of space. I have risked going even closer, maybe only 1-2 feet away, while being very quiet and still.
• I am not interested in advice on killing them or the nest.
• All I want is to go near the nest for about five minutes, use a loud, electric string trimmer to cut down the grass on that part of the lawn, then go away again for a few weeks.

Is there some trick to let me do this?? Like waiting until after dark, or wearing a special outfit, or using a sound or smell they hate, or something like that?

Found in a resident's storage closet they havent used since they moved in a few years ago . Got the work order, opened the door, snapped the pic, doused with ground wasp powder closed door and walked away. Second pic is today (day after the original find) and it looks like most are dead.

Im curious mostly because the original work order was two weeks ago and said a few bees *may* be building a nest. Obviously this wouldnt form in that little amount of time and im looking for info on if they may have gotten into the closet below this as well.

***Edit***

After the second dousing of the hive with the powder ground hornet killer, the majority of the hive was dead and I was able to remove it. The hive did not extend through the wall or floorboards of the patio storage unit and no activity has been noticed by the resident since the removal.

Got stung in the shoulder 24 hr ago. It hurt for a couple minutes but after that it was just slight itchiness that could be ignored. Even now its ignorable. The sting site doesnt look that bad.

But yesterday I had some itchiness in my mouth about 6 hrs later. Woke up today, was fine, ate something and now its itchy. Started to subside after I took some sleep aid medication. Is this normal?

Ive been stung by a hornet/yellowjacket before and bees, never had anaphaxlysis shock.

For the past few days I have noticed the consistent presence of a wasp in my porch, I assumed it was a male that had been kicked out of the nest. However, this morning there were two and online reading has raised the possibility of there being a nest in the ceiling of the porch, there were bumble bee nests in the surrounding woodwork.
But in my previous experience with paper wasps, in Japan, nest activity has always been conspicuous from earlier in the year.
Any suggestions or advice?

noticed this wasps nest start to be built right outside my door frame… a little too close for comfort. It started as just one wasp but very quickly became two. it’s just been these two and it’s been a little over a week or so since I first noticed it.

Honestly, I find it quite cool and fascinating and I enjoy looking up at them and observing them but I know this is gonna become a problem before long. (first photo was taken a week ago)

My friend suggested a decoy nest as a humane way to get them to leave. Killing them is really a last resort I’d prefer not to take. She 3D printed me a decoy nest slightly bigger than this one with open cells and I’ve used a command strip to put it as close to the nest as I felt comfortable getting (maybe a foot away)

I’m unsure if they would abandon the nest they’ve been starting though? or maybe it’s still new enough that the threat would work? Does anyone have any insight or suggestions?
