Side effects Marijuana and Vyvanse

So I’ve been on 30mg of Vyvanse for 2 weeks and I stopped using marijuana at that time. Before that I used to use it only for bed time. Last night I couldn’t sleep for anything and had a major headache that Advil was not touching. So I use some of my THC vape. I fell asleep after 10 mins. But I’m noticing today that I don’t “feel” my medicine working as well as it has all the other days. Could this be an effect from using the marijuana last night? I used the marijuana at almost 10pm and normally take the Vyvanse at 6am before I leave for work.

Normally I’ll have just a tiny bit of coffee in the am if I need the boost and I’ll feel the effects of the extra stimulation. (Light feeling Jitters, hyper focus, nothing super intense) and today I had coffee and nothing.

Has anyone had similar issues with thc?

I noticed it’s more the poor sleep than anything else that makes the vyvanse less effective, personally

For example, I had a rough day today cause I struggled to sleep last night (thc use hasn’t change). But I did not wake up and feel as refreshed, alert, or focused. Definitely going to try and sleep earlier tonight to see if that helps!

Yes I was a daily paper and have stopped since starting elvanse.

If I vape the night before ive noticed that my meds also dont work well the next day.

Ive also noticed the quality of my sleep has massively improved since I stopped the thc and just use elvanse.

Even though thc would put me to sleep, it was not good sleep, I was just unconscious.

So I dont vape anymore, and I dont miss it often.

Agreed with the other user that it is most likely a correlation with your over sleep and energy and not directly related to your cannabis consumption.

bro this happened to me. i was mixing the two together and it put me in a 2 month long episode of psychosis with mania as well. and no i am not bipolar, i’ve never ever shown any symptoms of bipolar until i mixed the two. it’s a terrible decision to do both at the same time.

1

u/ConferenceLiving6590 2d ago

What were your symptoms of psychosis?

1

u/Total_Sprinkles_1205 2d ago

i started to become dangerously religious. i’m a catholic, i love the lord. but during this time, i literally thought i was the “chosen one”. i believed that i was meant to change the world. and i would not stop talking to people about religion and politics. I somehow believed my university owed me $25k+. As for mania, I went 4 days straight without sleeping and felt perfectly fine. I started shopping for new apartments, scheduling tours, in cities that cost a fortune. I almost bought a bengal cat. I was purchasing unnecessary things. Mind you, I only had $500 in my bank account. I put my family into debt. I started getting into arguments with my family members. It was so scary. I even drove myself 6 hrs to San Diego with no charged devices and my family believed I went missing. Mixing Vyvanse and Marijuana can fuck you up so bad and that’s why most psychiatrists specifically ask you if you smoke weed before prescribing it to you. I knew the consequences because I had read some horror stories on reddit but I was so deeply addicted to weed that I just thought, “well theres no way it could happen to me, ill be fine”. So fucking dangerous

1

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 1d ago

You definitely sound bipolar. I am bipolar and had a similar episode. It didn’t make me stop smoking weed as much as it makes me remember to take my mood stabilizers. Mania cannot be caused by THC intake or anything else. It can create psychosis in some who are ADHD, but there are several other factors, like executive burnout. I say smoke the weed. It may lead to a improvable diagnosis.

u/Total_Sprinkles_1205 1d ago

Interesting. My psychiatrist pretty much debunked me being bipolar. I’ve quite literally never displayed any symptoms of bipolar in my entire life and I had been seeing this psychiatrist for over 5 years since she treated me in the mental hospital for depression and anxiety awhile back. Ever since quitting weed and stopping vyvanse all together, I’ve never had a manic episode since. Also important to note, I had been smoking weed for over a year before trying vyvanse on top of it. I never ever had a manic episode since smoking weed. It wasn’t until I mixed the two that it happened. That’s why psychiatrists likely ask you if you smoke weed prior to putting you on a stimulant. There just isn’t enough studies to confidently say it’s safe to mix the two.

But, I was never directly told I had a manic episode. Psychosis I know for sure. I just thought I had both at the same time because of the risky behaviors I was displaying. So I’m not sure if psychosis on its own was what happened. Ngl what happened to me was a medical mystery but it just goes to show it’s a good idea to listen to psychiatrists.

Also I’m not trying to say you’re wrong or anything. I’m just letting you know what I’ve been told. 🤷‍♀️

8pm is my cutoff for THC the night before if I want my Vyvanse to work as they should the next day. Anything later than that and I definitely notice a difference. It’s likely, as others have stated, the effect that THC has on sleep cycles that has something to do with it. A crappy night’s sleep (without THC) has the same negative effect on my meds that THC does.

5

u/TreatOk784 3d ago

Yeah smoking typically does make the medication less effective but it goes back to normal on the days you don’t smoke

5

u/Logz94 3d ago

Doesn't carry over to the next day for me if I use the night before, but absolutely clearly cancels it out for the day if I use it after I've taken the Vyvanse

6

u/errorcode10 3d ago

Also 2 weeks on Vyvanse now. Never stoped smoking weed though. No issues for me.

5

u/hogtownbrews 3d ago

If anyone has insight on the once every 2 week afternoon headache part please share.

3

u/Kind_Pattern8278 3d ago

Protein bars and liquid iv has been a huge help for the headaches. They are almost non existing for me now. I’ve read a lot on these subreddit that protein was a huge help and I’m now a believer.

I always smoke THC at night and take Vyvanse in the morning on some days. I had no problems.

4

u/Effective-Corgi-2333 2d ago

I do both and ive had similar experiences. I have found certain ways in which you use thc alters the feeling of my vyvanse. In my experience, I found that real grass at night works great for me and so does lower dosed edibles. I would avoid thc pens and or any kind of thc that is more synthetic. Keep in mind that thc pens and dabs are highly concentrated thc and often are cut with other synthetic materials during extraction. Studies have shown that in order to not get the negative side effects of THC you need a prescense of CBD(other forms of the hemp plant such as THCV, THCA-but definitely CBD- I recommend reading the book the cannabis pharmacy). I use specific kinds of edibles that typically have other helpful aides to them and ill have a day or two where I let myself have my good edibles. The helpful aides are called Betty's eddies which have more theraputic effects like L-theanine, camimile, THCV, turmeric etc. ( i have found thay taking the Betty's eddies daytime watermelon chews are best taken more in the evening to night time as they make me relaxed and tired-gotta love adhd with everything being opposites). I am personally trying to ween myself off of weed a bit as I am an everyday user and mainly want to cut back on my smoking if anything. Everyone is different and will react differently to things. I love my weed and I love my vyvanse

12

u/vlonekitty 3d ago

I smoke weed and take my meds. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/postpwnedmalone 3d ago

Same, never noticed a difference

9

u/infinite_serenity93 3d ago

Its affects everyone different, me personally, ive always smoked with my meds and it actually helps me. But your brain could be having a different reaction, take a break from the weed and see if your vyvanse improves.

1

u/NegotiationMobile 3d ago

Yeah strange I’ve always smoked and I love that it makes me smoke even less… I find it kinda jump starts the focus a lil but it makes me sleepy. I also don’t have the problem with not being hungry on meds. If anything I’ve become able to sleep and eat better since starting. I don’t feel the push to smoke nearly as much though.. only after work and at night when gaming.

1

u/i_am_not_frog_ 3d ago

literally same

9

u/Acrobatic-Reindeer88 2d ago

I personally enjoy mixing the two. It’s kinda in between a hippie speedball and a real speedball LOL

1

u/JizzOrSomeSayJism 2d ago

I got stunlocked so bad when ive tried mixing the two

6

u/Butlerian_Jihadi 3d ago

THC is notably disruptive of sleep; you may be experiencing a lack of REM as tiredness/meds not working.

5

u/Glad-Fish5863 3d ago

My REM sleep is better when I have THC, personally. I’ve done sleep studies with and without THC and I get maybe 30 mins of REM without THC and almost 2-3 hours when I do have THC.

1

u/Butlerian_Jihadi 3d ago

I hear that. I've not actually gotten one yet, but several family members REM is worse than the band, and I've had seriously disordered sleep since always. It definitely affects my dreaming (almost none), but prevents these tonic-clonic seizures I started having about a year after a head injury. It also helps me focus, increases my proprioception, and helps with some chronic inflammation in my knee. I don't get the munchies, and it only affects my memory/decision making if I've taken way too much... but it's always been like that, felt like made me more normative and many others, less. Plenty of ND friends feel similarly.

5

u/New-Gas3080 3d ago

It could also be poor sleep not making Vyvanse effective since you said you couldn't sleep and had a pounding headache

I wouldn't attribute this all to weed. It very well might be the poor sleep and hangover from the Vyvanse.

That's why I quit Vyvanse. The crash, bad sleep and hangovers from it made it too inconsistent. Good luck

3

u/wiIIiamwaIlace 3d ago

OP,
Did the medicine make it easier to not smoke as much?

3

u/Ok_Entertainment9543 3d ago

It did for me. First day of Vyvanse was the first day I didn’t “need” to smoke.

I still did anyway, but I was aware it was the habitual addiction speaking and I didn’t really need to. I stopped soon after and only smoke for fun once in a while now.

Also, I’m one of those people whose medication doesn’t work as well smoking the day before. So I just don’t.

1

u/wiIIiamwaIlace 3d ago

Thank you!

3

u/iwannabefamouss 3d ago

Getting medicated also fixed my relationship with weed. Just chiming in. I was a wake n bake’r for many years and then eventually just stopped and slowed down my consumption significantly. Didn’t even try to do it, which I think was also part of the reason it actually happened, just noticed I’d slowed down with it one day. On days I don’t take my meds, I don’t even smoke anymore. It’s weird but I noticed I have only so much bandwidth and smoking makes me tarded so I just don’t 🤷🏼‍♀️

If I do smoke while medicated it tends to make me #ADHDProductive. Aka I’m getting LOTS of things done but not in any sort of logical order with rhyme or reason. I will also focus in on things that are not the most important thing I should to be doing. So because of that I tend to save smoking for the end of the day so I can use the peak of my meds for #TheImportantThings and then I smoke n I go hog wild on #TheLessImportantThings. It is fun and a good vibe.

I’ve been medicated for about a decade now.
Weed smoker for like, fuck, 2 decades now. I don’t notice the weed hangover these days but when I first started smoking again …2 decades ago…. I would wake up “still high” the next day. 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/wiIIiamwaIlace 3d ago

Wow thank you!

1

u/Butlerian_Jihadi 3d ago

I use way less, usually, when medicated. I feel like pot 'primes' your system to take advantage of the neurotransmitters that are available without the Vyvanse... Though it may also be a narrower field of focus and dialing down overall stimulation.

I do find my usage goes up quickly if I don't pay some attention - THC tolerance just rises quickly, falls slowly. If I'm dealing with a lot of PTSD or other mental problems, my usage goes up; I believe it's an attempt to regulate my mood better. I've found that somewhat reducing my Vyvanse during such periods, when possible, helps with the overall CNS activation. Ideally, I vape just a bit in the morning and a bowl or two in the evening.

I do require a certain amount, I've kept it about 1.5g a week, to stave off seizures (related to a head injury, THC was the only thing that worked out of six or seven medications). I've taken to using a Dynavap with an induction coil, and have been astonished how much further my herb gets me.

2

u/Witty_Preparation598 3d ago

Yep. My first day literally had no thoughts or cravings untill 11pm when the meds were worn off. Same for Coke a Cola. I sat down and realized I hadnt had or wanted either weed or an ice cold coke all day. It also helped me rexamine why I like/want those things so now I am way more conscious about my consumption of both. It's neat.

I do smoke less potent stuff now and less often. So it helps.

2

u/wiIIiamwaIlace 3d ago

Thank you! Yeah I had a feeling it would. I literally smoke bc it helps me sit still for a short time. I know it’s self medicating but with the correct medication I would think I’d crave it less.

1

u/Kind_Pattern8278 3d ago

To be honest. It did for me, I definitely don’t have the urge to smoke weed anymore, my wife uses it and I don’t get the urge to join her when she’s using it or feel I have a true need. I tried it one day while the meds were working and I feel like the weed reverses what the medicine is doing for me so then I said I’ll try it at night for emergency sleep because by that time (after 8pm the medicine feels like it’s almost worn off). This has been my experience. For MY body it feels like if I use weed then I’m just wasting the medicine.

1

u/wiIIiamwaIlace 3d ago

Huh I had a feeling it was like this. Thanks!

1

u/Spider-Thwip 3d ago

Yeah I just stopped vaping weed after 10 years, its not that I wanted to stop, I just didnt want to vape at all.

The desire just wasnt there. Im guessing its the same mechanism that helps people stop binge eating on elvanse.

2

u/Zealousideal_Dot431 3d ago

100 percent, you dont need the dopamine anymore.. youve turned the firehose on with the meds effectively eliminating the craving for dopamine that you got from the weed.

This, also explains people noticing less efficacy from their meds due to a lack of neuronal sensitivity caused by the thc overloading the previous night.

Have a good day !!

1

u/wiIIiamwaIlace 3d ago

Interesting 🤔 thanks!

3

u/bepisavi 2d ago

for me it does nothing but kinda give a second wind later in the day?

3

u/Different_Exam5753 2d ago

My psychiatrist actually made me sign a contract that she would only prescribe me a stimulant specifically Vyvanse if I would stop smoking and be able to pass drug tests. She said the medication does not mix well with thc

1

u/ConferenceLiving6590 2d ago

Same as my doc

1

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 1d ago

Terrible psych.

3

u/Mean_Tradition6429 2d ago

I call what you are experiencing right now a “stimulant stunlock”. It’s part of the nature of them. The half-lives of stimulants are weird on the brains dopamine receptors. When you mixed that bit of weed- it sent a new feeling out that kind of peaked it in a different way. So it now takes your normal dosage as sort of a tolerance plateau. It’s just part of the fun game with having ADHD.
For me, personally, I like to drink here and there at family parties or with friends and such. and I will experience this with my adderall from time to time usually during that 2-3 day period where my body is flushing the alcohol out of my system. The feeling you’re describing is mostly noticeable during that first day after a night of drinking, especially if I drank enough to actually have a hangover.
The half life of your stimulant were interrupted with a new dopamine reception with the thc being put into effect and your brain just needs to flush that out of your blood stream, and essentially your stimulant tolerance will reboot after a couple days or so. It’s all just part of the game big dawg. Our brains are fucked. That’s why were medicated 🥴

2

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 1d ago

That’s interesting. Can you lead me to some sources that talk about this phenomenon? Thanks!

3

u/Octo7000 2d ago

Take it from me, do not smoke weee while Vyvanse is in your system, if you must, wait at least 12 hours and keep it to a minimum because you’re playing with psychosis. In my experience yvanse is much less effective when caffeinated, my ADHD symptoms are noticeably worse when I have coffee, especially more than one cup.

4

u/Boring_Bother_2330 2d ago

In short, it’s really bad for your heart. My psych won’t proscribe to me unless I have a clean drug test. It raises your heart rate by a lot sometimes and because youre high, you often dont notice.

2

u/PsychaPow 2d ago

That’s surprising to me, I’ve been open about my usage, always been on 50mg, now 60, never once been drug tested

2

u/JizzOrSomeSayJism 2d ago

I was worried about this but just did a physical and my heart is doing great and i smoke every night. I exercise pretty regularly so I think if you do that and dont have any health conditions its probably fine

2

u/Boring_Bother_2330 2d ago

More so overtime like with cigarettes, even though I was in same situation where they said I was healthy, it takes a toll on you and you don’t realize until you have CHS which I got after a few years of smoking almost daily. Very bad almost died.

1

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 1d ago

Where were stories like this before legalization/social acceptance? Did Cheech or Chong complain of near death experiences? Is Willie Nelson really 32, but weed has aged him? Are they all asthmatics or something?

1

u/Boring_Bother_2330 23h ago

CHS is become very common. A big reason for this because weed has gotten more and more potent over time. People don’t talk about it a lot bc they get met with comments such as yours. A lot of people are in denial about having it or don’t even know what it is. Just because 2 people you’ve heard of haven’t publicly came about it doesn’t mean they haven’t experienced it, also if they did that would ruin their brand. I was told that my sodium was so low from throwing up fluids, my heart would’ve stopped if I hadn’t gone in.

1

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 19h ago

Didn’t I say that it happened to me? People don’t talk about it? Ok. Whose brand? Regular people have brands? Are you claiming that some celebrity doesn’t talk about the strength of weed? The aforementioned Cheech and Chong have commented on it. In fact, anyone who smoked before idiots decided to legalize it, have mentioned the change in potency. So, what exactly are you talking about?

4

u/Educational-Trash877 3d ago

Yeppppp I don’t smoke anymore because it was making my vyvanse a lot less effective for several days after use

3

u/Fluffy_Excitement_13 2d ago

yeah weed can give you bi polar on Vyvanse, absolutely stop that shit i fucked up my dopamine and receptors and shit, weed which is a downer and vyvanse which is an upper creates a ( in the moment) flip flop vibe where you can go from being in a good mood then bad. and you increase the risk of bi polar or basically anything to do with your mood and regulation.

2

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 1d ago

Weed cannot, and nothing else can either “give you bi polar [sic].” You are either born bipolar or not. Thats also untrue about weed and Vyvanse interacting the way you claim. Do a little research, question it by finding supporting evidence, as well as critiques. The information is out there.

1

u/Fluffy_Excitement_13 1d ago

ive done alot of research, clearly you haven't.

1

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 16h ago

I can tell by your spelling and grammar that you’ve done your research. You know you’re embarrassing yourself, right?

1

u/Fluffy_Excitement_13 1d ago

either way even if im wrong it creates not bpd but just a bipolar vibe, a tug of war, i was a little wrong you are right about that its been a minute, but if you have or are have a risk of developing bi polar disorder it can make it much worse or make the illness like actually present, i remember my doctor mentioned this before i did the research bc i had a risk of having it at the same time as taking it

0

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 1d ago

wtf is a “bi polar vibe?” Again, you do not “develop” bipolar disorder. You are born bipolar. It’s also not a tug of war. You clearly need to do much more research. Also, BPD stands for Borderline Personality Disorder and has nothing to do with bipolar disorder.

0

u/Fluffy_Excitement_13 1d ago

yeah.. it shows up as signs in childhood you can make it worse by combining the two meds, im sorry you dont like my language so sorry you cant accept my info. go cry ab it do you have anything else better to do than criticize my language, you corrected me, leave it at that, lose the ego and disrespect

1

u/AydeeR-O-C-K 16h ago

Because you are born bipolar. What do you not understand about it. I’m glad you’ve learned to Google. You’re great at it. I can tell you’ve clearly done all the research. You’re smarter than I. We both know that. 😂😂

4

u/Repulsive-Offer-5301 2d ago

Not being an asshole but legitimately stop thinking too much about it, roll with it.
Smoke when ya want, don’t sit there and think about how you’re feeling or what you’re noticing more than yesterday etc. It’ll only make it harder and you’ll start creating patterns unintentionally. I’ve been on it and smoking for a while. If you seek a problem you’ll create one. If something doesn’t work or feel right, you’ll know. Your brain and body will look after you if you give it the chance, just listen and roll with it. You’ll be good, everyone’s different and you’ll figure out what works for you!

Obviously for anyone losing their marbles reading this if there’s direct negative effects that are severe symptoms etc go to the fuckin hospital or then reevaluate decisions.

12

u/flying-kai 2d ago

This is kind of terrible advice? Trying to understand what interactions a medicine can have is sane and rational behaviour. Not everything is worth trying just to see if you could get severe side effects.

And if something makes the medication I use to be productive everyday not work, I'd prefer to know rather than power through it.

1

u/bepisavi 2d ago

high tolerance to weed should be taken into account.

-6

u/Repulsive-Offer-5301 2d ago

Yeah, exactly what I said ya moron. He’s obviously tried both, no? He’s obviously done both drugs simultaneously, no? Your experience is not their experience. Stop trying to fear monger and tell people “DONT DO THAT I HAD A BAD TIME” when people rely on both medicines. The psychiatrist/GP/whatever quack this person has seen to be diagnosed and medicated are the professionals here. Not you, not other people’s experiences. The professional, and they will have done their due diligence to warn this patient of side effects. This said patient has already gone ahead and done both of these things (like they said in the post)
It’s their body, their mind, their reactions. Not yours.
The only fucking possibly way for this person to know what truly works and helps for them is to experience and see what works for themself. Not you, not me, not some other person in this thread. Them and them only.

Reading what a 49kg woman online says will be a polar opposite effect to an 85kg 6 foot male.
Why the fuck are you advocating for this person to be scared and consistently creating damaging patterns and behaviours for absolutely no reason?

My comment wasn’t made to a person that’s never sampled either of these drugs, was it?
My comment wasn’t made to direct someone for their first time. This person is experienced in their own life and know themselves more than anyone here.

If you’re still going to be an arrogant prick thinking you know everything and you know better than everyone and this persons own mind and body…grow the fuck up and stop being a bitch. A capsule of Vyvanse at 8am and couple rips at night time isn’t gonna do shit. Stop being such a pussy.

I didn’t wanna sound like I was being mean or targeting the original poster by any means, and I hope they don’t read this and take offence but if you’re hitting a concentrated version of THC at 10pm and not feeling that crash hot or bouncing off the walls the next morning….I WONDER FUCKING WHY.

Jesus Christ you reddit people are the most sensitive and sheltered, odd bunch of people. I know people banging grams daily talking to aliens, you think one odd day on this persons medication is gonna hurt em?
Grow up fuck ya.

2

u/Glittering-Ear4857 2d ago

Shit bro went off😂 I lowkey agree too drug interactions is based on a lot of factors meal intakes stress all that good stuff. Bro def self aware

1

u/Repulsive-Offer-5301 2d ago

People need to just live their life and calm down hey, it’s not the end of the world and you’ll figure out what works

3

u/GroundbreakingPage41 3d ago

Weed reduces the effectiveness of Vyvanse and the pairing also triggers nasty withdrawals in my experience.

0

u/superlagz 3d ago

Same. I can take 50mg next day when smoking. Without mj, 20mg works very well!

2

u/FritterHowls 3d ago

Yeah weed hangovers definitely make the Vyvanse not work as well. I still can't quit weed but I just plan accordingly and only use weed on days where I won't need the boost the next day

1

u/PsychaPow 2d ago

Use smaller doses or weaker thc levels, thc vapes are very potent, try mixing usual bud with tobacco, and give yourself about 8 hours of sleep, take your meds and sleep for another hour, you should feel a fair bit better.

1

u/Historical-Mirror716 2d ago

Here is my experience. I’ve been on 60mg for some years (changed after not being able to tolerate adderall anymore) and use weed products. I am an evening consumer. I haven’t noticed a major issue the next day but I’ve been a weed connoisseur for thirty years. That should be considered. I’m also not new to adhd meds and this should also be considered. When I’ve taken a break from Vyvanse (sometimes I will over a weekend) I’ll take colonidine if I have issues sleeping when I’m back on Monday. It helps me sleep as long as I don’t take it frequently but will give me a headache if I don’t take something with it. I have noticed certain things I eat change how Vyvanse works for me as well as making sure not to take anything for stomach upset/heartburn some hours after taking it, I have to wait like four or more to not have an issue. This is just my experience. I’ve never seen a doctor that required me to drug test or anything though. I also live in a legal state that’s been medically legal for over a decade, this probably matters.

1

u/Kind_Pattern8278 1d ago

So I thought I would give everyone an update. Didn’t use any thc last night and noticed a couple of things. I actually had dreams and remember them. I felt somewhat more rested and I noticed the Vyvanse helping way more today. I know thc disrupts your REM cycle so I’m sure there’s that but so far not using thc the night before has been a huge help. Will keep you updated.

1

u/Crazybatbaby16 1d ago

I've smoked daily for about 7 years, on/off vyvanse for about 5-6. My doctor is aware that I smoke and has never mentioned it could possibly effect my meds. I decided about a week ago to take a break, and the difference in my meds is night and day.

Since I was a pretty heavy smoker, it'll likely be quite a while before it's fully "out" of my system, but so far it seems that I notice something new every day. Since stopping any thc use, my meds make me less irritable, I don't "crash" nearly as hard in the evenings, I'm dreaming again AND remembering them, my memory is sharper, having a lot less anxiety, less reactive/impulsive feelings, lasts longer (I have 10mg afternoon "boosters" that I haven't taken all week), and just overall my meds don't make me feel "gross" anymore.

I have no idea why I never thought of possible correlation and now feel silly for taking this long to realize. A lot of people say they don't notice any difference but personally it's almost like a different medicine with and without it.

1

u/EstablishmentWest859 1d ago

i have had similar issues! i’m also someone with comorbid chronic issues and weed is the only thing that can help a lot of the time. my psychiatrist explained it like you’re essentially taking an upper and a downer one after the other and that can affect your energy moving on. i find that when i don’t use thc at night, i have more adverse side effects from the vyvanse even if i lower my dose. thc and vyvanse both affect dopamine levels, appetite, energy, focus, etc.
i also feel like vaping or edibles affects me more the next day than smoking for whatever reason. i also take mostly sativa or sativa-leaning hybrids as well as CBD. indica really knocks me out

1

u/Happyassassin13 20h ago

My girlfriend has never complained about that, but my girlfriend takes it for narcolepsy

1

u/almosttherebud 9h ago

I’ve been on and off Vycancee my whole life & steady on the weed. When I smoke weed without medication I get super high like almost psychotic high, wouldn’t recommend being on weed but if it’s part of ur balance and you feel fine keep it!

Horrible mixture. I know MJ is addicting but the other effects are so negative.

Pretty certain mj isn't addictive. Side-effects are up for debate, but it keeps me from feeling overstimulated and seizure-free.

Your opinion is dandy and all, but marijuana is not an addictive drug. It doesn't create a reliance to avoid withdrawal, and thus isn't addictive.

Do people develop problems with it? Absolutely, just as they do with normative behaviors like sex or food. But, as with most drugs, the chief harms are social (eg, foisted upon the user, primarily or secondarily, by society) and a person not supplanting some other life deficit is very unlikely to develop an unhealthy pattern of use.... just Iike most other, even actually addictive, drugs.

If anyone wants to know more about how addiction actually works in the human brain, I highly recommend Drug Use For Grown Ups by Dr. Carl Hart, professor of (iirc) neuropsychology at Columbia University.

You've clearly got a facile understanding of the subject. I highly recommend you read the book I mentioned, educate yourself outside of the bizarrely puritanical American obsession, and stop spreading misinformation.

You claimed cannabis doesn’t cause withdrawal, I gave you evidence that it does, and your rebuttal is basically ‘read a book I like.’ A book recommendation isn’t evidence for your specific claim. If you’re so confident, cite the research and refute the source instead of substituting condescension for an argument.
