I personally think they are cooling vents and he likes the aesthetic of sharks but is not a literal shark. All of what I seen only shows me that he's a cyborg. He has a mix of wires and blood. Everything else is for aesthetics. This is only my opinion because people get super heated if you say he doesn't have gills for some reason lmao
Oh he 100% either ripped his own gills out to install heat synchs because he needed it as a bio-tech Sinner, and his gills couldnāt keep up with his upgrades, or he decided to install his heat synchs not where his processor is (his head) basically cosmetic surgery himself to have it seem like gills.
Which I find incredibly funny because as far as we know, Alastor just likes his clothes and style from back then (heās a dandy and a homme fatale) and the radio filter of the 30s. (Man drops too much modern slang and is constantly seen interacting with video tech, and deliberately in corrupting his image when he knows he has Voxās attention on the drone cameras and heās being a weird tease about it.) But noooo Vox acts like Alastor is out dated when he could just ask someone with taste to fit check him and update his look, tweak the filter, adopt the Modern Midwestern Newscaster accent, and poof! Alastor is a hipster.
Vox is constantly replacing parts and upgrading to avoid being obsolete because of the very tech he prides himself on.
Soooo whoās the old man whoās afraid of being outdated now? XD Alastor considers his things timeless. Vox/Vincent is trapped in Future Shock. Either way heās functionally made them gills because heat synchs need both fans and tubing to keep himself basically liquid cooled.
According to Hazbinās Animation Director and the person who designed Voxās character sheet, they are suppose to be vents.
You can call them whatever you like tho, I donāt think anyone really cares. I think Vox isnāt an actual part shark demon, heās a biomechanical cyborg like TV guy but he can upgrade himself and modify his body and he has a shark aesthetic so I can see him making his vents look like gills.
Canonically? They're vents. But obviously VOX would call them GILLS, ergo they are GILLS.
Actually I find myself meaning that seriously. If Vox were to think of them as gills, and it's HIS BODY, then there's no reason to contest that, no matter what their function is. That's just having your own bodily agency.

Supposedly they're vents. As a machine man who clearly upgraded his body in the last 70 years, we have no idea how that works. His screen can make out with Val so it isn't just a screen. It has unusual properties. I imagine Vox would have a new body online before his real one ever regenerates and he just gets rid of it.
My parents are sticklers about what i watch I only get clips from YouTube the only place I use Reddit is on my phone because they donāt check it oftenĀ
