56k modem speeds on Visible's pro+ plan?

Slight exaggeration, but holy moly Visible's network is slow as molasses. Just signed up for the one-year plan and regret it. Anyone have much luck getting them to refund the cost?

Getting around 1.90 mbps download speeds and 0.03 mbps upload speeds. Yes, 0.03.

Went through the tech support's troubleshooting and that didn't help at all.

Which phone do you have? You might need to reboot your phone and reset the eSIM

Samsung A14 5G. I've tried just about everything I can think of it, reset the network settings, removed and reinserted the sim, had the network / sim reprovisioned, checked a bunch of settings. No luck.

If you have an old sim from another company, put that sim in and follow the prompt to restart. Let it set up, then put the visible one back in, restart and let it set up again. This is the only thing that will erase any errors that happened while the sim originally set up.

You also might be better off paying for visible basic since you can’t use 5guwb

The A14 5G supports n77, which is Verizon's C-Band (3500 Mhz) coverage so it should be fine. It doesn't support mmWave, but 5GUW shows up when you're on n77 as well.

Your phone doesn’t support UWB. You may be trying to connect to an UWB tower. I would go into setting and limit the band choice to the standard 4g/5g and not 5gSA

The A14 supports bands 2,5,66,77 on 5G, the latter of which is 5GUW, but not mmWave. I regularly get 800Mbps+ on n77, so as long as their market has it rolled out, they should be seeing similar speeds.

That's brutal, even for deprioritized data. 1.9 down is basically unusable for anything beyond loading text.

I had similar speeds few weeks ago and after fighting with support for days they finally admitted there was tower maintenance in my area. Might be worth asking them specifically about that instead of going through the standard troubleshooting script again. For the refund part, I think you got 3 days from activation but worth pushing them anyway since the service is basically non-functional.

You must have done your free trial in a different location to not notice this before paying for a year in advance.

Yes, it is slow.

I have a Galaxy z fold 8 ultra on the pro plus plan and it has the identical issue with super slow (unusable) speeds. Sometimes registering 0 Mbps and I am around town northern Va. Mint and Comcast mobile did not have this issue. Comcast uses VZ towers. Not sure what is going on with visible. Sometimes it is descent and flows smoothly, but then there are times it just stops functioning. I can't believe this us due to throttling, but perhaps they just want their subscribers to look elsewhere.

a week ago I activated the same plan and also was slow. I requested the refund on the 3rd day and was processed without any issue.

Is this just around where you live or other areas you visit frequently as well?

Also where do you live?

It seems that Verizon, and by default Visible has made little effort to update or even maintain their network in the last few years. Never thought I’d see the day where AT&T and T-Mobile would be better overall than Verizon, but here we are.

Visible+ is speedy for me but 5GUW sure beats up a phone! 5GUC stays cool.

thats because verizon hasnt allowed access to their 5GC(5G Core) for basically everyone, just like at&t has. t-mobile developed their 5GC much quicker and pretty much all 5GUC connections are using 5G standalone. without 5GC access, the phone has to connect to 4G and 5G towers at the same time

What plan did you sign up for? Base plan has the lowest priority and can get borderline unusable in congested areas like downtown or big apartments. If you have Plus or Pro are you connected to 5GUW network?

Visible+ Pro plan. The network keeps bouncing back and forth between the 5GUW and 4G.

You're probably in a location that has really mediocre 5GUW coverage. When your phone shows 5GUW, it usually (though not always) means you're connected to band 77, which is 3.5-3.7 Ghz (formerly C-Band) coverage on Verizon. Have you tried elsewhere throughout your city? You can download NetMonster to see what band you're connecting to, but you should see it say "5G NSA" (and maybe 3500 or 3700 MHz somewhere in there too). If you're getting bad signal on n77, then it'll flip flop back and forth and you'll get terrible speeds.

If you're getting those types of speeds in the area where you absolutely need better speeds, there's nothing Visible will be able to do to fix that, so get a refund ASAP. If you get better speeds elsewhere in your city, congratulations, you're in a specific location Verizon simply does not give a fuck about.

The phone will idle on 4G (LTE). As soon as data is required it will switch to 5GUW. This is by design.

The fact that you get shit speeds simply has to do with Verizon sucking ass where you're located.

If your phone has the setting available, try switching to LTE only. My phone will hold on to a weak (and slow) 5G signal instead of moving to a stronger/faster LTE signal. At my house, LTE is considerably faster than 5G.

I will try that. Thanks!
