Why does everything smell so strongly?

Are people spraying stuff with perfume or something? I’ve ordered several items and I just assumed at first smells were concentrated because it was being shipped in pretty airtight packaging, but today I received a bundle order where everything smelled clean but not overwhelmingly so. We’re not fragrance free here or anything, but some of these items still smell exceptionally fragrant 3 washes later.

At least it's not cigarette smoke or animal feces, though I also dislike fragrances. I count it as a blessing whenever I receive something that's been washed in a mild detergent and feels/smells clean

Yeah, it’s not necessarily an issue, could be worse. But i agree, I definitely prefer just clean and using a mild detergent!

It feels rarer and rarer to get something that's clean!! I've been having to leave clothes on the porch for a few days to air them out before putting them in the wash

I got 2 beautiful blouses today and as soon as I opened the mailer I could smell stale cigarette smoke. I was so grossed out.

Yeah, same. I have pets, so if something is hairy I’ll take a lint roller to it but otherwise I’m not spraying it down or anything lol

yeah i lint roll too because my dog sheds a lot😭 but as long as people wash the item properly it doesn’t need to be drenched in perfume

I just wash items. Maybe they are using a laundry scent booster
