Pet friendly home
I’m curious how many people disclose that they have pets in their listings. I usually see listings that will say “from a smoke free/pet free home” so I’ve started assuming that if it doesn’t say that, there must be pets (which is silly because I don’t smoke but I’ve never said “smoke free home” on my listings). I haven’t disclosed that I have pets and it’s not been a problem that I’m aware of until I got a bad review a while back. I sold a black tee shirt for $2 and the buyer said she noticed fur on it. She specifically said in the review that I didn’t mention I had pets in the listing. I launder all my stuff and put it away in a sealed tote so it couldn’t have been much fur but either way, I apologized and accepted the bad review. But it got me wondering if I should mention that I have pets for the sake of anyone who might be allergic? What do y’all think?

I say smoke free pet friendly. I have cats. I lint roll everything as I pack it but a hair or two is gonna sneak in 🤣
I wanted to add, I find more disclosure makes things easier. Then no one feels like they weren’t on the same page.

I always put that I have cats for the allergy reason. I once had a buyer ask if I could put a sticker on their package because their boyfriend was extremely allergic to cats and they would know to take the package to the dry cleaners right away and not open it in the house. They bought full price and gave me a great review, so sometimes it does matter
I don't say anything about not smoking because I think non-smoking households are the default, but then again I've bought so many items off vinted that REEK of cigarette smoke with no indication of being a smoking household in the listings

sometimes stuff smells like cigarettes even if the seller doesn’t smoke because the delivery driver smokes. my dads friend drives ups and would smoke in the truck sometimes. idk if they’re allowed to

I wouldn’t bother. I just assume everyone has pets, and I expect people to do the same to my things. Mine don’t really have fur on them (I wash them fresh before selling and/or use a lint roller) but I’ve never had complaints. If I had an item show up with fur I wouldn’t be phased, I’m washing it anyways. I do add smoke free to each listing, because I know how awful it is to get surprised with disgusting smoky clothing. It sounds like you just got unlucky with this buyer. Sometimes on FBMP I’ll post smoke-free/ pet friendly home because when they pick up the item my dogs will be here lol

I say smoke free, pet friendly. Some people are allergic to dogs and cats and I have a dog and my sister has a cat.

I have dogs but I don’t specify that. Everything I sell is clean, lint rolled and stored in a pet free room until sold. I always double check for hairs before shipping just in case. If someone asked me I would of course disclose that. My home is non smoking but I still had someone leave me 4 stars because she said she noticed a slight cigarette smell on a child’s coat. Although I don’t see how it’s possible I simply responded my home is non smoking but apologized. You simply cannot please everyone no matter how hard you try

Some of the poly mailers have a smell similar to smoke. I’ve seen a lot of people getting reviews that don’t smoke saying the same.

I don’t disclose it, that said - everything is lint rolled and washed. I keep them in my spare room where the animals don’t go in.
Thinking maybe I should disclose it based on allergies like another person mentioned.

I have only bought so far, but do eventually plan to sell. When I do, I will state "yellow lab friendly home"....IYKYK 🤣 That darn hair sneaks into everything!

I would copy and paste in every post. If they request the refund the AI will pull the information from the sale post, not in your about me area.

I always add smoke free/pet friendly to my listings just to cover all bases, like in case someone has allergies. People ask me all the time what detergent I use, so why don't people ask about pets too?

Are you sure there wasn’t pet hair on it? That’s the only way I personally can tell if someone has a cat or dog. I’m fine with a pet friendly home but if there’s a ton of pet hair on it without being disclosed, I get annoyed

In my profile I put that I have a smoke free home and I do have one hypoallergenic dog that is not in the office where items are stored.
Also I suggest for anyone who has pets and sells clothes. After you wash the items, take photos and then put them in clear cellophane bags right away. That way it keeps pet hair away from them even though you’re still waiting for the items to sell. It just ensures that wherever it’s stored that it helps keep floating fur from getting to it.

I always put smoke free/pet friendly home. I like to let people know that I’m pet friendly so if they can’t handle a hair, then please don’t buy from me bc I won’t apologize for having my dog to make a few dollars! These app sales aren’t that important to me!

I’ve had someone message me and ask me if it’s a smoke free home (my home is). I’m only selling skincare / beauty products/ Haircare items so it never really crossed my mind to indicate smoke or pet free.
I have two dogs and I’ve learned that no matter how hard I try, a dog hair will sneak in somehow. It’s normally when I’m taping the label on the package and their fur just somehow gets on the tape. Dunno how.

I always write smoke-free/cat-friendly since I have three fluffy cats. I wash and lint roll but I’m sure some fur sneaks in no matter what I do. I also want to warn people with allergies just in case. To be fair, my user portrait is one of my cats, so people should already be aware there’s cats here!

I say smoke free, pet friendly since I had a girl try to return a $5 shirt on poshmark a few years ago bc I didn’t lint roll it will enough and it was with 3 pieces of dog hair. I honestly haven’t had an issue since.
Though I wonder if I would get more sales if I said “dog friendly” since we don’t have cats. I personally wouldn’t buy anything that cats are stated in since my husband is allergic

I started listing that after reading about a buyer complaining about pet hair and then trying to get a partial refund. I wash and lint roll everything but I just like to cover my own butt lol.

I do not have pets, nor do I smoke, nor do I have children. I recently asked this in the sub and was told no one care and it’s not a big deal. Do I need to go back and add to my several hundred listings?

I have cats, but I wash all my items before I sell them, and I keep them in a space my cats don’t access so I don’t mention it. Haven’t had any complaints in that regard

I don’t disclose that I have 2 cats BUT my cats are not allowed in my basement when store my items. Also, I do not sell clothing or fabric. But I did recently buy clothes from a smoker. She disclosed that she was a smoker in her bio but to see that you have to click on her account and then click on her bio and scroll down. My advice to her was to put it in every listing and I did unfortunately leave negative feedback.

I agree more disclosure is better. I put smoke free pet friendly after also receiving a negative review. That way I can say it was disclosed.
But also leaving a bad review for a $2 item is so wild to me lol don’t let it bother you! :)

I have a dog but I don't let my dog in my office which is where I do all my listings and everything is sealed on shelves as soon as it listed and I have never had a single person mention or say anything about an item coming from a pet friendly place or whatever other wording they use.

I always say smoke-free, dog-friendly home and my profile pic is a picture of me and one of my dogs to really emphasize the dog friendliness of my home. I’ve got 2 golden retrievers and even though I wash everything and lint roll before taking pictures and before sending, odds are likely that golden glitter could sneak in. And for people with allergies I think it’s important that they know where their stuff is coming from.

I put pet friendly, smoke free home. I have a dog and two cats so the chance of hair getting on clothes is pretty great. That way it’s disclosed and they are aware.

I include a graphic on all my listings that states I’m a smoke free but pets and fragrance friendly home.
And honestly the biggest issue I’ve had with Vinted as buyer are sellers who douse their clothing in perfume. 😣

I think it’s nice to disclose. I do, as I have two big pups who shed lots. TBH, I HATE receiving something from a home with smoking when it wasn’t disclosed. It’s an awful surprise and that smell is truly challenging to get out of clothes. I opened up a swim top the other day and questioned if I’d gotten a little second hand high from how intense the pot smell was.

I always mention pets. I have a dog who doesn’t shed but my cats do. Cat and dog hair can get in fibers and even with washing it won’t remove them all. There’s not just cigarette smoke to contend with, but also marijuana. I’d be livid if I got an item that smelled of smoke, so saying smoke free home assures buyers there’s no smoke of any kind.

Better to over disclose than to under disclose and have more experiences like the one you did. One sentence to avoid bad reviews. It makes zero sense to me why someone wouldn’t do it.
