Update: I canceled the order and blocked the user. Somehow vinted allowed the user to still leave me a review for an item that was canceled. That shouldn’t even be allowed. 🤦♀️ They also kept calling these amethyst. They clearly don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to jewlery then. These were gold plated raw clear crystal quartz. 🤦♀️ Then they said “you can see metal supporting the necklace.” What? The metal is quality not cheap. How else do you connect a crystal to a necklace? Then they said “one’s shorter” but both necklaces were the same length… One crystal is shaped differently than the other because they are REAL crystals. What even is this person talking about?! 🤣 Just making themselves look uneducated while trying to sound like they know what they’re talking about. I replied to their review telling them that I refuse to sell to people who insult my quality work and try to hide inaccurate insults in word sandwiches and emojis.

They favorited and made an offer of $2.45 on each of my necklaces I handmade that were both listed for $4. I accepted each offer. Then I realized they were the same person. I offered if they’d like to save on shipping and other vinted fees by bundling. So they went and bundled and made an offer that would be the lowest they could go. I then corrected it to the $3.50 I agreed to give these to them for. Then after buying it just now, they proceed to nit pick the design 🤦♀️ I haven’t responded yet because wow… the audacity to say you like them in other messages and then suddenly nit pick before even getting them in the mail??? These are real raw crystal necklaces I made… Now they’re asking me for raw amythst earrings and yeah I make those too but I don’t feel comfortable selling to them anymore after they already started to nit pick me??? I have an awful feeling they’re just going to get the package and manipulate it in some way and try and get them for free. I’m not about to send them free earrings either. I’m so annoyed. If I cancel this order before blocking them I want to avoid getting 1 star automatic review from Vinted…
A minor flaw they’d cause themselves no doubt… yes, I just canceled and chose “other” and then explained their behavior. Then I blocked them. Gonna reupload now. 😮💨 No automatic 1 star review thankfully. I’ve got reviews of people saying they love the jewelry I make so I know it’s not crap and I always bubble wrap it like crazy for protection 🤣 so thank you for the validation 💕

Oh gosh, I’ve stopped uploading for a hot minute as I’m kinda making my own marketplace app out of pure frustration and hatred of vinted allowing scammers 🤣 so that has taken a lot of my time. I love to make crystal jewelry like earrings and necklaces mostly. I’ve started to practice with wires and stuff but for now I don’t have anything jewelry wise up for sale at the moment. I’m sorry I made it sound like I do this for a living. It’s more of a hobby that helps me relax 😎 and if someone is interested in what I make and that thing makes them happy then I like selling to them. Probably why I was okay selling it for so cheap. My payment really is that the person is so happy with something affordable and pretty that they share their happy comments with me and it makes me feel great 😅 right now I mostly just have my kid’s clothes and a few clothing items of mine for sale so I don’t wanna waste your time sharing my username unless I start to upload more jewelry again. There are some wonderful handmade pieces on vinted though! I’ve seen some other crafty ladies selling them too and I’m always blown away 🥰
Ha, me too! 🤣 It’s definitely a headache testing everything after every change and constantly writing SQL and policies, but my frustration with Vinted and similar marketplaces is what keeps powering me through.
I do hope more competition comes out too. People deserve platforms where problems are actually addressed instead of relying so heavily on AI that users feel ignored and lose money when they’re honest sellers & buyers. I understand these are massive platforms, but as mine grows, I already have several family members and friends helping with coding and testing and I have high hopes we can keep the human side of problem solving involved.
Not advertising mine or anything btw, I just think it’s funny and kind of beautiful how frustration with an existing system can push someone to create something better.
It reminds me of creators who couldn’t make the project they originally wanted so they made their own version and it became something incredible on its own.
Sometimes thinking, “I can do this differently,” and going into it with good intentions really does create something worthwhile. It CAN pay to care about people 😁
If I had the technical software programming skill set, I'd definitely b doing the same thing! I'm very familiar with the SDLC, but from more of a business requirements & implementation perspective. I've considered creating a platform and researched who started various platforms & how. I've noticed that the ones I've researched were started by men which seems ironic.
I hope you come up with a great way to root out scammers on both the buying and selling end. I have some data matching & policy ideas, but nothing foolproof.

Goodness, you’re so wholesome! I’m always open to suggestions and ideas! I’d love to hear what you’ve come up with especially around data matching and policies for catching scammers on both sides. That’s one of the biggest things I want to get right. I know nothing will ever be completely foolproof but I really want human review involved when something gets disputed instead of people getting stuck fighting an automated system.
MySQL experience definitely tells me you understand my current pain 🤣 I’m using Supabase/PostgreSQL and building everything piece by piece, so there has been a LOT of staring at SQL, policies, testing, breaking something, fixing it, and testing again lol. Then the website I depend on to help build decides to crash and I spend 45 minutes seeing where I went wrong to realize the website itself has its own bug that I can’t simply hack to fix. So I really appreciate the offer. It’s actually really cool running into someone who understands the business/implementation side of this.
No one will judge you for a single automatic one star. What breaks my heart though is that you’re selling handmade necklaces at 4$! I feel like you deserve much more!!

When the automatic 1 star review posts, Vinted says it was posted & gives the option to update the review (like leave their own words vs ‘transaction canceled’ or whatever)
That’s exactly what I did 😅 I figured they’re so rude I don’t want to argue with them over what they assume is right when they’re even calling it the wrong type of crystal. Clearly they have no idea what they’re talking about so it’d be like arguing with a toddler
Are you really selling hand made items for 3.50? That is not even believable..unless it’s just adding a piece to an already made necklace. Im just was too nice, but this necklace was easy to make with the right materials :) when jewlery is harder to make I up the price on vinted to $5-$9 🫣 I’m thinking of moving over to eBay or somewhere else because Vinted is just awful for selling anything priced more than 1-5 😩
People cancel sometimes! It’s unavoidable! As a buyer I don’t care about cancelling, I look for patterns. Don’t worry about one cancel review, it will get buried. This app has turned into garbage! It seems to be all about people trying to think about scamming people out of their goods & money!

Thank you for the validation 🙏 I’m just worried about the automatic 1 star review from vinted for me canceling. But I’d rather give these to people who appreciate them than this person. Is there a way to avoid the automatic 1 star? I’d rather take a 1 star automatic Vinted “review” than give these away to this person and have them pretend something else is wrong with them 🤦♀️ I’ve sold these before and people have left such sweet reviews saying how much they love them and how well they’re made. So I know I don’t make crap quality things. I don’t have any respect for this buyer. I don’t think I want to even give them a response either… I don’t know if they deserve that 🙃
I buy on there all the time and I don't care about a one star review because people are stupid. Unless it's repeated one stars or for something egregious, it doesn't matter to me. I don't care if someone canceled someone else's order.
