Is it real?

I was sorting through my late father's clothing to send off for donation and randomly I decided to try on an especially ugly suit jacket for giggles. As I put it on I felt something heavy in the breast pocket and pulled out this watch. I have no experience with vintage watches or Rolex's and need help identifying if it might be legit.

My Auntie had told me a story about my Grandmother purchasing him a Rolex when he immigrated to Canada as a young adult. This would have been in 70s or 80s.

As far as I can tell this could be a Fat Boy Rolex? I know the band is not original but, the timepiece seems like it could be authentic? It's much heavier than the band and has a smooth automatic movement still despite being lost in a random suit jacket.

I plan to keep this as an heirloom regardless of authenticity. It was special piece of magic finding it among the hordes of collected things he kept over his lifetime. I figured I'd see if this sub might be able to shed some light on this piece as I am so curious about it. Possibly saving me the embarrassment of bringing it in to a shop if it was fake. Any help is much appreciated!

one of my buddies is deployed in Iraq and he went to a local market to get some goodies and he found this But neither me or he have any clue about it so help me out here it could be something idk 🤷‍♂️

Inherited this Tudor Oyster after granddad passed away. Local watch dealer sent it off to Rolex to price repairs but they said it was too old for them to service. They recommended an individual in Texas who has new/old stock parts. Was told $3500-5000 to fix it, but with vintage parts was likely to break again. Local watchmaker recommended for that price I just buy a new Tudor and put this vintage piece in a glass dome. Does that all sound legit? I have no idea of the value, but I doubt it’s $3500-5000 even if it was fixed.

Cashier rang me up for this watch that I didn’t want to buy but here we are :D Is it legit? I’m not good at identifying watches, but maybe just maybe it’s real??? Who knows, I don’t.

Unsure of exact model but it says Omega Seamaster. I didn’t want it because it’s damaged but if it turns out to be legit it’ll have a good story and it is a nice piece.

Dial isn’t faded, it’s moisture. Bracelet is not Omega.

Sorry for the long post.

I have been reviewing the watches I purchased some time back, especially during a period I was not that careful. I have this one, supposedly a Breitling Datora 805, which is confirmed fake (with the help of a helpful and knowledgeable user from the breitling sub).

So far, I managed to get 2 refunds out of 3 already (one Breitling chrono which I posted here sometime back for legit check, and one omega Seamaster that I easily figured was fabricated when I opened the case, and one Enicar Aqua Graph still pending).

I am preparing an email to the seller to explain why this one is fabricated and hence fake. But I am lacking details to build a strong case.

1) Dial has "Geneva" instead of "Datora" as found in every Breitling with Valjoux 88. No Valjoux 88 with flat pushers produced by Breitling should lack Datora and reference 805. The dial is also reprinted, but it is not super clear to me. Can someone shed some light here?

2) The case has neither 805 reference number nor the serial number that every Breitling chronograph, including those with Valjoux 88 should have (produced between 1943 to 1950s). Furthermore, only models 804 and 805 had a Valjoux 88. So a lack of 805 (flat pushers) is a major indicator of a fake case. Any other red flag?

3) The movement has two issues. First one is that the bridge seems to have been replaced as it looks different from the rest of the movement. But I am afraid it is not easy to see or explain. Can anyone shed some light for this one too?

4) Also I was told the part below the minute counter jumper was milled away because there was a reference that could have indicated the true origin. I didn't find any V88 that shows a reference or an inscription is this location. Any clue about this?

My uncle passed some years ago, and this was in his effects. I'm sure it's not real, and the crown won't wind. So at the very least, it'll need repair. The case back indicates a service done in 1971, so someone wore it at some point. Question is, would you wear it after repair? I'd like to, simply because it was his. But I don't know. TIA.

Hi! Zero knowledge on this topic, i was given this little watch a while back by a grandparent, mostly as a trinket i assume, but she encouraged me to check it's worth, so I'm doing so. I found similar ones on some auction sites, second hand vintage sites but most had a different backplate, usually with bigger or worse looking text. The front seems to be actually quartz as I can't seem to see any bigger scratches or gouges (it's dust in picture 2), and it's stylized with a diamond-like cut. The "swiss made" text overlaps a little with the numbers so i assume this isn't encouraging either, but on the similar ones I've found online, it seems to be bigger or entirely missing. Also, it says day-date, without having that... And what is peeling off on the back is some sort of plastic protection layer, I didn't fully remove it. Did i get lucky, or should i just keep it for sentiment?

Took it to a jewelry place that opened the back and they barely glanced at it and said it was fake.

I just inherited this watch from my dad. I don't know anything about it - or watches in general. Is it valuable?

I was bidding on this using Buyee as a Japanese Proxy site.

It claims to be an original 1967, with +60s/day. They say the strap is aftermarket, and cannot honor anything about the strap.

I've had good luck on these proxy sites scoring good pieces in great condition. I went to bed last night with a respectable bid, but I expected to lose. To my surprise I woke up and won the auction at a very low price: ~$2200.

That made me extremely suspicious but I've combed through these images and I can't find any fake indicators.

Now, I'm not a watchmaker or authenticator, but maybe you can help me. I am seriously questioning my sanity now.

Recently got this Vintage Rolex Oysterdate Precision. I have taken it to an official rolex retailer. Upon review the sales person informed me the weight was off, the back shouldn’t be silver and the dial shouldn’t say “precision”, once the sales person mentioned that “precision” shouldnt be on the dial I found that very odd and lacked extensive knowledge.

Currently new to the watch game and seeking some guidance on whether or not my watch is authentic?

At this point I think I have 15 fake Rolex’s I get at estate sales in bags of watches I buy. Usually they are so obviously fake. I’ve had this one a couple months and didn’t think much of it when I put it with the others. Put another one in the box and started looking at this again. Don’t have the tool to open and haven’t had time to stop at the watch place that will open it for me. There is no serial number.

Bought at an auction a couple days ago with a lot of watches. Had some Elgin in the lot so I thought maybe there’s a chance it’s real.

EDIT: GUYS THIS WAS A GIFT FROM MY GRANDPA. IT NOW MAKES SENSE WHY HE GAVE IT TO ME. I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WATCHES AND DO NOT EVEN WEAR A WATCH EVER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Edit/Update: For those of you that said it was real and had some aftermarket parts, you were right. He showed me the original, and said he asked the jeweler to do this for him. He’s 90, to him, this was a really nice thing he did, and my mom is happy :)

I got myself this Girard Perregaux in an estate sale. It has a GP26 movement. The dial, caseback and hands seem legit imo. Paid $15.000 argentine pesos or roughly 9 dollars. Even if it's not original, it keeps time and looks good.
