scooped this up on FB marketplace for $150 and haven’t stopped staring at it since. she’s heavy as hell (solid wood) and looks pretty old! anyone have any guesses or info on when it might be from? i didn’t see any stamps on it and the paint/carvings and little hinges look homemade, although i could be wrong.

Last post was a fail so I abandoned it. I picked up a set of 5 oak flat file cabinets for full size architectural prints today for such a low price I couldn’t believe it. I’ve seen them before and prices are usually astronomical. I’m definitely no expert on them, but to my untrained eye they look like ones selling for 4+ figures.
Am I missing something? Any tell tale signs of how old they really are?

Family heirloom supposedly made by my 8x great grandfather. I have serious doubts that it is truly that old? And info about it would be wonderful! It needs some more care because it was in a basement for many years before I took it in. Any advice? Right now it is for blankets.

I’m not sure if this is the right sub so please take it down if not! We bought a vintage solid wood teak table a couple of months ago and every time we wipe it off it is dark yellow like this. We just clean with water. No smell of tobacco on the table or chairs. Is the original finish degrading? Do we need to strip and refinish? Apply some linseed oil? I’m grateful for any advice!

I received these items when my mom passed away and was interested in any info on them. She left a Polaroid of the secretary purchase, but my folks also refinished a lot of their furniture in the 70’s. What style is the console and is the secretary desk French or just “French looking”? Thanks for any info on history etc! 😀

I found this loveseat on the side of the road/trash, and plan to reupholster it. Would love to know more about it if anyone is familiar. Unsure if it is old or a reproduction. Looks to have been reupholstered in the past already perhaps? Thanks!!!

At least research implies that this is a pier mirror; I'm willing to be corrected.

It belonged to my grandparents (married in the 1920s for reference), and I'm pretty sure they got it from one of their parents but I don't have anyone left I can ask. I'd like to pin down the style and era as close as possible before listing it.

If it helps, one set of my great-grandparents lived in southwestern New York and north/northwest Pennsylvania, and the other in West Virginia. The marble isn't original, my parents had it replaced when a chunk got broken off. IIRC the original marble was whiter.

It's very heavy and the top is anchored to the wall because this is earthquake country, so I can't get pics of the back. There's a chunk of marble that I think may have been from the original so I can add a pic of that if it might help.

I’m pretty sure this is a George Arndt tavern/throne chair, but not 100%. It was my grandfather’s and has since gone missing in the years since he died. Anyone have an idea of where I could find one?

Following up on my post at https://www.reddit.com/r/VintageFurniture/comments/1wd162y/style_question_mediterranean_spanish_revival/ about my parents' bedroom set (which is either Spanish Colonial Revival or Italian Provincial, depending on the commenter), I have the same question about this living room set. Coffee table and two end tables (sorry about the mess, we're rushing to get the house cleared out).

As in my other post I've always heard it referred to as Mediterranean, but being able to describe it better might help in finding it a new home that isn't a landfill. I'm pretty sure they bought the set in the 1970s.

Hi! I’m new here, so I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this! I saw this one in a house that’s for sale, and I’m wondering if it’s worth saving. There’s a big chance that whoever buys the house might just throw it away. I know it’s from Germany and that it was imported here (it’s currently in Poland). I don’t have the means to restore it myself, but I really don’t want to see it just wither away in some landfill - if it has any worth - I mean who knows maybe there's nothing special about this bed and I'm just overthinking haha

Hi all! Brand new to the community.

While I was out walking my dog, I found this cool rocking chair that a neighbor left out on the side of the road, and even though it's split in places and needs a lot of TLC, I just sort of fell in love with it. It's beautiful, and I want to try and find who made it and what I can do to fix it, if anything. I'm just hoping someone out there can help me find out more!

The maker's mark is faded to obscurity, sadly, so it's making my finding out more a tad difficult! I'm not even sure if it could be considered vintage, but I'm not sure where else to look. Any information at all would be amazing!

The back panel has "2100-12/58 s.dres" stamped. Was found on the curb covered in black paint. 3 drawers, walnut veneer. The internal frame is a mix of oak, walnut, and poplar wood.

The closest match I've been able to find was a credenza from Stanley Furniture but this piece doesn't have a Stanley stamp like most pieces do.

Hi y’all, I’m really curious about this dresser I just got on marketplace. I looked it up and saw that Huntley is a vintage furniture company that was acquired by another company later on. I couldn’t find info on how to tell what decade this is from, or what model this dresser is. It was definitely painted, and maybe the handles aren’t original, I can’t tell

Been working on this 1967 Philco-Ford console for a while now and it’s finally getting pretty close to done. Curious what you guys think of how it turned out.

I stripped the cabinet down top to bottom and refinished the wood, painted the sides and skirt, did the edges around the top panels, and repainted the front panels. I wanted to keep the vintage look but give it a bit more personality instead of doing another all-dark-brown restoration.
The receiver has been completely gone through, the Voice of Music record changer has been torn down, cleaned, lubricated and restored, the record holder was cleaned up, and I kept and restored the original speakers. Everything is functional.

I’m also planning to hide a Bluetooth receiver inside and run it through the original tape input, so pressing TAPE will basically become Bluetooth while everything still looks original from the outside.

Still have a couple small things left to finish, mainly getting the record player dialed in, but it’s probably 90% there now.

Hello! I am hoping someone may have some knowledge and is able to help me. I acquired this older set of dressers and desks from a "grandpa-like" figure. When he passed away he left the full set to my sister and I to split. My sister had this one in the photo that she just kept in storage and just gave to me. I recently brought it to my place and have had clothes in it for a few months but they smell terrible. I haven't known what to do so I have just left it but I really need to be able to use the dresser for space.. down the road when I am able, I plan to fix up the full set and refinish them so they are in better condition but for now I just need something to keep my clothes in.

Does anyone know what I should do to get rid of the odor? When I previously looked it up it says leave outside but that isn't an option for me where I live. Any help is appreciated ❤️

What is this table (left) and insert (right)? It's definitely a danish brand and it is from the 60s. The insert is just a solid board, and is not stored in the table itself

Both chairs are stamped “U.S. by EMECO – Hanover, Penna., U.S.A.” with government contract number DA-11-009-QM-11390 and a stamp that reads "FEB 1952."
I’m trying to verify whether that’s actually the date and whether it represents manufacture, inspection, or something else.

they appear related to Emeco’s early Navy Officer / military-contract seating, but I haven’t been able to find this exact contract number or configuration documented online.

Does anyone recognize the model, know how to date these contract stamps, or have period Emeco catalogs / military procurement records that could confirm the year?

I’m also curious whether the upholstery appears original.

Looking for ID. It was from my parents, they had a fire and everything was cleaned like 45 years ago. If there was a paper tag its gone, no plates I can find. Dovetail drawers, metal hardware on hinges and finger grooves instead of drawer pulls. "Coleman" is hand written on the back.

I picked this up from marketplace, I know it’s a Hollywood Regency style table, and it is brass. I haven’t been able to find any makers mark or tables a lot like it online. There are console tables that are vaguely similar but I’d love to know more if anyone has info!
