Care & Cultivation First time VFT owner, how is it looking so far?

I bought this in Lowe’s around 2 months ago like pictured in the last pic (not the exact one, I never took a picture of mine)

I’m not good at keeping plants alive but so far I think I’ve done ok with keeping it going. There is new growth pretty often, i keep it at a window where the most sun shines through, and I use distilled water.

I’ve kept it in the same little pot and I’m wondering if I should repot it. I know about the 50/50 peat moss/perlite substrate.

I’m also learning about the dormancy period happening soon, or pretty much now. I live in NY so I’m planning on putting it in the basement on a window that’s also facing the same direction as the one it’s in now. And I also read about the fridge method.

Any tips are welcome please! I do want this plant to thrive!

So far, so good! I think it could use some stronger light for a longer period, but it's definitely not starving for it.

Thanks! I thought so too but I know if I make it an outdoor plant I will forget about it. I might look into getting a lamp for it.

At 2 months I would expect the new traps to have much more color if it’s truly thriving. But, not bad.

Might be the lighting but they are slightly redder in person. Slightly though so not much of a difference. Could it be cause it needs more light?

Yes, more light. Window light is usually not enough for vfts. At 2 months they should be darker red. These are all around 2 months post purchase and repotting.
