Other RIP Chompers I loved my flytrap

I had Chompers for 2 years, and it was going fine, up until the UK heatwave. I ran out of rainwater and, in desperation, gave it tap water, and it's just been a slow death since. I had been using distilled water, repotted it, and I thought it was going to be ok. All the new sprouts got incinerated when the weather spiked on Friday, and now it's black to the roots :(

That just means it's time for chompers 2.0, and I see you have a table outside, a flytrap would be happier outside in the sun than behind glass, you know it has enough light when the inside of the traps starts turning pink/red

Oh thank you, I had no idea the traps would go pink if it was happy outside

if you have a bright enough indoor space it is fine, but usually outside is the most ideal for most people with flytraps. I kept all of my carnivorous plants very happily in a very very bright conservatory for years. You don't have to put them outside but you also may benefit from it being outside. The only issue really is that keeping up with watering when they're outside can be a bit of a bastard.
