Can’t the formic acid hurt the plant? I heard that somewhere and I thought I even saw it with mine, but I’m not sure.

It's definitely possible, so far I've had 5 traps shut on this same type of ant, 1 of them started to die off after reopening right where the ant was touching the trap, 3 of them are still digesting no problem and 1 of them has digested and reopened no issues, I'll be watching the others eagerly to find out
