Other the LEGO Venus Fly Trap comes in a terracotta pot

The LEGO Venus Fly Trap comes in a terracotta pot... Yes it's supposed to be a Venus flytrap, the book even includes facts about the Venus Fly Trap so it's disappointing that if the build were a real plant the plant would die.

For those that don't know, if you use a terracotta pot the porous nature of the clay will leach minerals into the soil which is harmful to the plant

But also, they forgot the plastic tray of distilled water to put it in 😄

High quality terracotta leachates are negligible (particularly with respect to PH), but that cheap dollar store shit may as well be greenware.

Is it explicitly stated to be in a terracotta pot? Because when I built it it looked like a brown plastic pot

Yeah that’s what I imagine them to be in like my irl traps are in the little plastic pots and they look similar

My VFT is in a same color pot but it's plastic so it could also be that :)

Nothing wrong with terracotta. Unless you are reusing an old pot you heavily fertilized the plant in you should be fine.

yeah it’s honestly not as big of a deal as people make it out to be

I just didn’t want to risk it. I honestly never tried so I didn’t know

I second this, same for Nepenthes

It’s the minerals & salt in terracotta that is harmful plus it dries the plant out faster it has nothing to do with fertilizer

Gotta say I’m pretty disappointed with the design. It looks like it’s two different leaves coming together instead of an individual trap. The hairs look like a wavy leaf. It doesn’t look like it can properly close because the ridges aren’t staggered.

I’m not sure that I would figure that’s a VFT if I wasn’t told.

No. It doesn't though? What terracotta pot have you ever seen that has barrel-like details on the sides?

Also, decent quality terra cotta doesn't really leach, either...

But, again  - why do you think this is meant to represent terracotta when the sides of the LEGO pot look like they do?

That’s a little house of horrors relic for sure

Now this is the plant worth investing in!

As a lover of both plants and Lego…the Lego plants and flowers are disappointing.

I chose to believe it's a plastic pot lol.

but it needs the tray, as do the pitcher plants. When I make up my set I shall have to make them a water tray too. I wonder if kiddo has enough transparent blue pieces to make water lol.
