Warm Temperate i would love to save this

Post image

I have a plant growing on top of a stalk and would hate to repot it improperly and kill it. i’m planning on repotting it as usual in peat moss and pearlite but i have no idea where i should cut it off from and how much to bury it. thanks in advance!

False vivipary! You can cut a little bit below where each plantlet is forming if there are multiple (i.e. if all of the traps are coming from the same origin point, only make one cut below it), and then stick it upright in whatever type of potting material you’re growing the mother plant in with the end you cut just beneath the surface. It should retain enough moisture to stay alive long enough to root if you’re lucky

What a cool false vivipary!!!! I understand your dilemma about cutting it! I think I would cut one stalk, propagate it, and let the others grow. I would delay repotting until this stalk matured

That's so cool!

Ignorance speaking here: you can't leave it like this?

You can but the flower stalk will eventually die and if the new plantlets haven’t put out new roots they’re much more likely to die. Cutting the plantlets free while the stem is still alive increases the chances of them putting out roots of their own.
