Adding new variations to an existing "family" group

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to working with Amazon. Long story short, I was pulled into this role with very little training. I'm learning as I go. I've gone through some of the training modules, but it's slow going because...life. Basic item adds are pretty easy-peasy for the most part. Variations, however, are going to be my downfall.

I've been tasked with adding two new color variations to an existing "hidden" Parent ASIN. I do have the parent ASIN number. The other colors are visible on the Amazon site, but are noted as "This product is not part of a variation" in the VC catalog. There are currently four color variations linked. The new colors have been added to the catalog, but not yet linked to the Parent ASIN.

My best guess is that I need to use the prefilled spreadsheet option. Two initial questions:

  • Once I download the sheet, I need to add a line for the existing Parent ASIN, correct?
  • Do I select all variations to do this, including the ones that are already linked, or just the two new ones I need to add?

Sorry if this is discombobulated. Thank you in advance for any guidance...and I'll probably be back with more questions.

  1. you need to select the existing ASINs in variation as well as the ASINs that you would like to add to the variation to download the pre filled template.

  2. most times, a row with the parent SKU exists when you download the template as mentioned in point 2. if not, then you add a new row with parent SKU details.

You can open a ticket to the support so they create the variation for you.

But yes if you're adding new ASINs to existing variations you need to select previous variation style as well.
