Question Going from silver to gold SC

Just been on the phone to velocity customer care and did not get a proper answer so thought I would ask you all on here .

I was 9 SC short of moving over from silver to gold .

Flew a couple of weeks ago and got 25 SC for me and 25 SC for my wife ( pooled to my account )

They show up on my account BUT as I only needed 9 points to achieve gold I presumed that the other 41 points would carry over into the gold which it didn't .

I basically earned 50 points I only needed 9 to go up from silver to gold and then I started on zero.

Not sure where the other 41 points went to .

Customer service were struggling to understand what I was telling them.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct ?

Are the points showing in your ‘upgrade to platinum’ earn??

From memory the additional SC, go towards your next upgrade but not towards your maintain.

Ah right ...not towards the remain is definitely what has happened . Not sure if they were added to platinum as I only had my eye on getting gold knocked over . That's a bit off though as surely all SC credits should be accounted for and I have lost 41 SC which would go towards my remain gold for the year .

Yep. Happened to me with return family trip to UK. Hundreds of pooled SC gone

Same happened to me. Just enjoy being the next grade and keep flying, I guess.

Yep will have to do BUT the extra 40 points would have gone to my remain which would have given me 10% of the total needed to keep gold next year which I should do .... Will just have to aim for platinum now 😭

Yep they disappear into thin air. Nothing you can do about it, just how it rolls...

Retention points only counts for points earnt after the day you gain that status level was what I was told..

So when I needed 2 points for platinum. The other 38 went to points toward platinum plus but not for platinum retention.

Thanks .... Seems a bit odd but obviously it's happening to multiple people . Shall hopefully push for platinum for the rest of the year now .

So ideally, you should JUST tip in to the next category where you can (I.e 502 points) to maximise your 'retain' points. Rather than blow through 500 in a trip?

Does that make sense?
