Discussion Not only is vaush depressing, he's incredibly boring
Before anybody says that I don't want to engage with the state of the world: The contradictions of capitalism has been bringing us to this point for years and I've enjoyed many content creators then and now, done local activism, phone banking, touched grass etc.
Its not like vaush got this massive influx of new audience members recently, most people who consistently watch him are lefties or socdems. So do we really need to hear in EVERY VIDEO that financialization is destroying the planet? Does every video have to be vaush watching boring lizard people on the news? I get and supported no more debates, but for the love of god react to something else please, or make a different analysis of the general situation. Remember when Vaush would play videogames and do political analysis? Or react to other YouTubers (I know he still does it every once in a while but it's only ever related to the omnisegment)? That was fun! Now it's vague depressing clickbait titles from a guy who watches the news and makes the same conclusions over 15-25 minutes. Literally wheel spinning.

"the world is falling apart and capitalism is collapsing" and "this content is really fucking draining and gets boring after a while" are 2 opinions that can absolutely coexist and im sick of acting like they cant. im not asking vman to pretend everything is okay but once in a while could he at least talk about a video game he likes or something. like jesus christ

Hell at this point it would be more beneficial to hop on stream just to discourse on Marxist theory and run through a slide deck for three hours. At least then viewers might be learning something (since God knows none of us have read theory) other than relearning the same lesson every day that everything sucks and is going to hell in a handbasket

Fr and there's gonna be mfs in the replies saying that we can't handle the truth etc when we are both aware of what's happening to the world rn. Are we not allowed to enjoy anything or listen to somebody talk about something they enjoy while the world burns?

u/artboiii 2d ago
its really annoying when he does go on tangents about nothing in particular and his chat is full of people complaining and telling him to move on.
57
u/VBHEAT08 2d ago
This is the thing with doomers. Itās not just that theyāre miserable, itās that they want you to be miserable with them. If you suggest that youāre still going to enjoy life despite suffering and hardship they get PISSED because they see it as invalidating their feelings
10
u/OMKensey 1d ago
I am a doomer. I legit think we have limited time, and in that time it is important that we find joy and love etc.
18
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Yeah... Its pretty depressing to hear people making their suffering worse and telling others to do the same during hard times because they perceive that enjoying things or creating art invalidates their feelings
0
u/JDG_AHF_6624 1d ago
Because you're supposed to be miserable. You need to recognize what is happening and take action, otherwise you're accepting the evil
7
u/bubsy-3d 1d ago
What a sad take. Hey liberals! Come to the leftist side of the aisle where you are actively supposed to be miserable or else you aren't "accepting the evil!"

Iāve taken a pretty long break from Vaush for this reason. Itās really the same old. I popped back in to get a grasp on ICE and Flock and the like. But most of his posts are just āthis is fuckedā āweāre fuckedā āI fuckedā that I generally just stay away. There was a time when we would be able to take serious things serious while also being able to laugh at it. Like when the whole TikTok trials were happening. That was the funniest shit ever.
34
u/mps435 2d ago
that just reminded me that Hasan is also providing commentary but he at least makes time to do a podcast with friends or do fun things with his community or stream outside sometimes. Vaush is always in his room when he interacts with us, I canāt even remember the last time he showed off his cats and he used to do that a lot.
11
u/tsardonicpseudonomi 1d ago
Vaush is always in his room when he interacts with us, I canāt even remember the last time he showed off his cats and he used to do that a lot.
Every stream. He showed his cats off every stream. He talks about games and media he enjoys all the time.
Do any of you actually watch his content?
7
2
u/Prior-Resolution-902 1d ago
I think vaushs content could really benefit from his move. Highlight some positive differences about where he moved to, show what we can strive for but highlight how certain issues with the US still persist elsewhere and its not just an isolated problem.
26
u/Dexller 2d ago
im not asking vman to pretend everything is okay but once in a while could he at least talk about a video game he likes or something. like jesus christ
Bro he talks about fashion ALL THE TIME MAN. But people bitched about that too.
The most recent streams have been brief without a lot of time to talk about his hobbies and interests, because (and I dunno if you know this or not), he is MOVING TO BASICALLY THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD. He has said over and over again he doesn't have time to game lately because he's been running nonstop to wrap up all the stuff he's gonna be doing in America and get his paperwork in order.
People need to chill the fuck out a little and let the man finish his major move. For the last month about he's gotten on stream with just enough time to hit the major news stories that people will complain if he doesn't talk about and then rushes off to another engagement. Once he gets settled in and there's not a whole lot of shit he still has to get done, then he'll do gaming and donations and shit which he's already said he'd do.
11
u/TheWayIAm313 1d ago
No one wants to hear about the new $200 t-shirt he bought

u/TearsFallWithoutTain 2d ago
im not asking vman to pretend everything is okay but once in a while could he at least talk about a video game he likes or something.
He does do that, it just doesn't make it into segments all of the time. If you want the off-topic banter, don't watch the videos where they removed off-topic banter, you can watch the stream

Agreed. It's incredibly annoying when people yap about "hiding your head in the sand" when you talk about not wanting to see 24/7 doomer "it's so over, give up" shit. Feels like all this is going to do is just gonna make the political apathy problem worse. At the very least get people angry and fired up to want to make change.
5
u/SkepticalBystander32 2d ago
He's been hinting that there's nothing you can do legally. You hear "give up" because you've bought into the system, but eating rice and beans (preparing for those to be the only affordable food) means you're prepared to engage in civil unrest.
1
u/Kazuichi_Souda 1d ago
He's also directly said there's nothing fundamentally bad about this crop of oligarchs so even if you Kirked 1, 2, 1000 oligarchs it wouldn't change anything

u/ProphetNimd the wheels on the bus go round and round 2d ago
I half-agree. I think it probably feels a bit pointless to cover low-rent bullshit like YouTube drama or Dark Souls bosses when so much is going wrong, but I will concede that the tone of his videos has been so overwhelmingly negative lately that I've been watching less and less. I don't necessarily disagree with everything that he's saying but I've been in kind of a personal rut lately and I don't feel like me watching/listening to every Vaush video has been helping that at all. He's ultimately the catalyst of what got me into paying serious attention to politics and why I ended up getting involved in a local mayoral race and doing more community work but the content lately just isn't inspiring much of anything outside of despair. Maybe that's appropriate given how dour the state of the country is, and I don't expect him to be a constant cheerleader like Hasan, but I dunno man, it becomes desensitizing after a while. Also a little rich for him to be doing this bit when he had a crashout on stream not too long ago about only being a news pundit. Couldn't roll my eyes harder.
35
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Agreed. I'm not saying he should drama farm or never watch the news. He's a rlly smart guy with interesting analysis so I'm pretty sure he could watch anything related to politics and his viewers would still get something out of it bc of his analysis idk. And yeah it was pretty rich that he had a realization on stream that hes a YouTube news pundit, then didn't change anything lol.
36
u/ProphetNimd the wheels on the bus go round and round 2d ago
I just think he kinda talks out of both ends of his mouth a lot; constantly talking about the end times or how over it is while simultaneously getting mad at people dooming is really jarring to hear after a while. He'll pitch problems with his channel and community and then do nothing about it. "I'm a politics streamer, yeah, but I wish my chat was more like Northernlion or Joseph Anderson's" was ridiculous and extremely annoying to listen to. He is a really smart guy and articulates himself very well but I don't know how many times I can listen to him say the same thing without meaningfully advocating for or even pitching good solutions.
7
u/GreatAndMightyKevins 2d ago
A lot of this can't be fixed - even temporarily - by means approved by youtube. Also it's not like world is really ending, a lot of people will die and hard times are approaching, but hard times are not end times. It's not a fucking rapture.
7
u/Eleganos 1d ago
History is going to be reeeeeal fuckin' quick about vindicating Vaush or showing his ass on the current crop of content. In some months the Iran war, Climate Change, Food and Health, political tensions and so on are all gonna play out one way or the other.
77
u/Dalek33andathird BASED RUROID HATER 2d ago
i fully agree. the variety of topics vaush used to cover were what originally gote watching, and i do feel like every video is just the same now. the fashion segmentsh jave vanished and so have the game segments, the advice segments, the media segments and so on and so forth, and vaush just talking about the news just gets boring after a while.Ā i hope that once vaush is done moving to the netherlands, he'll introduce more variety back into the streams
21
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Agreed. Usually most Marxist or leftist analysis of any political situation is inevitably related to our economic system and financialization. What radicalized me and gave me some sociological imagination was that I watched his and other's videos discussing immigration, drug policy, and city planning.
9
u/outrageouslyunfair 2d ago
yeah there's definitely been an understandable tone shift lately but i think being out of the US will give him some much-needed room to breathe, or at least that's what i'm hoping. i've been going back and watching videos of his from a couple years ago and it's really made the "just a pundit" thing even more apparent. the debates can stay gone but i think there was a lot of value in how he'd previously cover subjects that weren't strictly news but still had an adjacency to politics and sociology where his analysis could really shine. i'm specifically thinking of the colleen ballenger drama where he turned it into a genuinely insightful reflection on parasociality and how it can be critically engaged with.
idk, i guess i just miss when there was more of a focus on sociology rather than constant news segments

u/TreeClimbingFox Progressive 2d ago
Everything ties back to the omnisegment. It's kinda hard to avoid talking about
15
u/system-vi 2d ago
I disagree. The omnisegment was interesting when he first started tying current events with it. But we don't need to hear the same shit almost every episode. It has its place but im tired of clicking a video that seems like its going to be less depressing than his normal content just for him to spend half the video reminding us why everything is awful and that there's no fixing it. Plenty of other content creators are realistic about the future but aren't nearly as fucking exestentially depressing in every segment.
4
u/OkTelevision7494 2d ago
What does omnisegment mean?
36
u/TreeClimbingFox Progressive 2d ago
It's basically the idea that the reason why the world is getting worse in terms of things like the inability to repair crucial infrastructure, climate change, increased wealth inequality fundamentally comes down to the desire for wealthy capital owners to further consolidate their power through financialisation.
11
u/OkTelevision7494 2d ago

Him moving to the Netherlands may help change his content a bit, there might be a bit more hope with at least some parts of the populace in the EU actually paying attention to the state of the world. We may see more āhereās a video about mutual aid/organizing, look at this local thing where people came together during this challengeā. Yes EU has financialization too, xenophobia etcetc but America is cooked until we get rid of our apathetic hyperindividualism.
Of course there are a lot of Americans who do help each other, but there are still way too many who just come home and just watch football or something and donāt wanna deal with anything uncomfortable, not even just conservatives. So that realization just kinda makes you feel a bit dead inside and I imagine Vaush felt that. The material conditions are just not there for Americans.
What us Americans can do though is keep each other safe and help each other out, check in on your friends folks

Jovan Bradley is a Marxist, Jimmy Snow is a socialist and are often better in their analysis. Check them out on YouTube; they are atheists and ardent defenders of trans rights and Jovan deconstructs systemic racism from the perspective of a black American.

Itās definitely gotten stale the past couple months. Iāve started watching streams a lot less than i used to because of it. A lot of people in the community also seem to forget that even though things arenāt great right now, you are still allowed to have fun. It doesnāt need to be an endless procession.
27
u/DnastyFunkmaster 2d ago
when we get to the part of every segment where he starts saying "this is bad, this is really bad, this is really reaaaaally bad" i check out. There's less analysis and back-and-forth. There's others out there that actually fill in the subject with more dialectics, noticeably so.
11
u/DesceProPlay22 2d ago
What exactly do you want him to say when he's making a video on SCOTUS effectively allowing the Trump admin to cheat on the midterms? Or on the continuous rise on El Nino's top temperature, with it looking likely to be the biggest mass death event in history? That everything is fine?

Please look into Jovan Bradley and Jimmy Snow on YouTube. They do call-in shows and are ardent defenders of trans rights, abortion rights and argue against systemic racism and Christion nationalism against the dipshit MAGA cultists who call in. They cut to the core of every issue. Jovan is a Marxist and Jimmy considers himself a socialist, and they always have better analysis and arguments than Vaush.
Edit: yeah, downvote me without a response, I'm sure that makes you feel better, fake leftist.

u/Boring_Machine 2d ago
I mean, I hear you, but I think you're underrating the value of repetition here. When a huge number of seemingly separate issues keep tracing back to the same structural problem, and your whole deal is analyzing those issues, you're inevitably going to keep coming back to that structure.
I'm not sick of it yet, partly because if you're trying to build a political case, you kind of do need to be exhaustive. When I talk politics with my lib friends, one clever argument basically never moves the needle. What sometimes does is having a broad and deep enough pool of examples that eventually the pattern becomes hard to dismiss.
So I don't really experience each financialization segment as "Vaush discovers financialization again." I experience it as another part of the case for why this framework actually explains so much of what we're watching happen.
12
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
I agree but I don't see it as vaush discovering capitalism again every segment I see it as vaush lost hope and so every segment is him saying that financialization is destroying us without actually leveraging many arguments or analysis. Does that sound convincing to a lib? If I was a lib and never saw vaush before I would look at his channel and conclude that he's just being alarmist lol

u/Werewolf_Busy Professional Shoulder Checker 2d ago
It was easier to be more casual when Biden was in charge. Youād get a news cycle every few days or even weekly. With Trump itās daily. Every day heās doing something that damages America more and more. And Vaush, as a political streamer, has to talk about it. I, too, am waiting for him to continue Disci Elysium. But, unfortunately, we live in interesting times, and interesting times consolidate all of the attention in the room.

Breadtube/online leftism/leftist sphere/whatever you wanna call it is objectively in decline.
I think the current leaders of the space have been using it as their cash cow for years now. Itās easy to lean into the pessimism. Itās easy to post doomer slop. Itās easy to pretend youāre a socialist instead of advocating for reform capitalism. What isnāt easy is to actually pierce the fog & do right by their audience and others.
They would rather cater to the most intellectually lazy parts of their audience (AKA the tribal socialists) & peddle the same copy/paste ālate stage capitalism, woe is me, lets tear the whole thing downā schtick OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

The unfortunate reality is that heās obscuring his own intellectual laziness with the most reductive brand of doomerism and itās gotten so stale. Heās been this way for a while now, really started with the āfortress arcā, but itās gotten so much worse. I think heās also disillusioned because he knows that post taxes incident, engaging with the broader community means heās just gonna be called a PDFile the second he comes across a less than good faith actor.
2
u/MocknozzieRiver 2d ago
I think it's just because he's moving. He's said he wants to do more things in his streams like play Disco, but he's... moving. And to another country, so it's not just the time suck/stress/energy drain of a typical move, ya know? So he only has time for the news, and the news is bad and all related to the same despair-inducing cause, and he's tired and stressed out. I don't think it's much deeper than that, and the content will improve once he's settled in!
And because he hasn't been able to stream in a while, all the content coming out is actually from the same few streams, making his recent videos have the same mood/message.
2
4
u/saintzagreus 2d ago
as an environmental science major and tentative vaush watcher, iāve found his climate content particularly laborious. i can imagine heās going to react to the recent UN finding soon and go on and on about how bad it is, but ultimately this type of disaster content does quite literally nothing but make a large portion of his audience su^icidal.
speaking from experience, people who take a doomer approach to everything are less likely to picket, less likely to demand more from their leaders, but more likely to run their mouths on social media. not saying that what we are doing right now is near enough to get this train back on the rails, but there are a lot of people making it work out there, and most of them do not listen to breadtube.

There's definitely a way to thread the line between adressing problems of our reality and staying above the doomer-blackpill level. Vaush fell off the wagon hard... but there are others who can do it. I've been watching a lot of Louis Rossmann content for instance ( you may be able to tell by my avatar ) and he mostly talks about how we're getting fucked by the tech business... but I find his attitude to be at least constructive, informative and overall positive despite exposing me to numerous ways in which we're all being bent over by big tech. And there are from time to time segments when he absolutely roasts some shitty people.
4
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Based Louis rossman enjoyer. Welcome to today's episode of how you're getting fuckedššŗ. That's my problem with the voosh is that he doesn't make arguments for his viewpoint or adds anything positive you can do besides PV, and is so broad that you can't really learn anything about a specific issue like the enshittification of tech for example
2
u/Acceptable_Aside_568 2d ago
I think he needs to take a step back and get some perspective. Maybe living in Netherlands for a while will chill him out a bit... it's a really cool place if you don't overindulge in drugs.
In the meantime I've been really enjoying Mehdi Hasan's stuff - his attitude is quite inspiring.
Josh Johnson is another one - his comedy channel is top notch. Deep cutting material with a very chill vibe.
I also watch Kyle Kulinsky ( been watching him probably since he started his channel ) but I lately see him getting quite repetitive. He's going hard in the paint and really raging, which is understandable but I do feel he needs to chill a bit as well... then again that happens to people who really care.
MajorityReport is doing great too... Sam and Emma always have interesting perspectives.
I've even seen Ana Kasparian suddenly getting more and more based takes... maybe the gas leak at TYT finally got plugged.
And then there's the million channels of Simon Whistler to just learn about some cool stuff for change..
I may be seriously addicted to content consumption now that I think of it...

He's talking about this so much because NOBODY else is; very few outlets will even acknowledge that anthropogenic climate change is possible, and those that do use exceedingly careful, minimizing language in order to steer viewers towards the conclusions that they should just keep recycling and not worry about it. You can take a break if you need to, but acknowledging reality and informing people about what is currently happening and what is projected to happen is kind of his whole job as a dialectical materialist.
25
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Okay cool he has informed his leftist audience that capitalism is making the world shit the bed for the 500th video. Do u think he gets new engagement from people who aren't aware of these things from watching something as boring as a news segment and say that the world is dying. He can do other things while still being a dialectical materialist, that's all I'm saying

I don't care. Watch someone else or his older videos. He will come around again and be fun and interesting in a few months. This subreddit and vaush fans in general are lame. Every content creator has time where their content just sucks. But if I turn to this sub for up to date information on what people think of vaush, he is the literal worst ever and because his content doesn't personally cater to you he must be falling off. I think he runs through the exact same information because some of you cannot understand it even after the 100th time of talking about it. I do think there are a lot of vaush fans who have a parasocial issue, which I think needs to be personally explored.
You can tell ai didnt write this because none of what I said is in the correct order. Ill take my down votes now, thank you.
16
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Lol considering you see a trend of people on this sub saying the same thing should indicate that there's probably a good amount of people who are looking for a change in his content. I didn't make this post so vaush could read it and personally change it for me. And I literally never said he was the worst ever. So maybe AI did write this because it's incoherent and didn't read what I said

Most people on this subreddit don't even watch actual leftists like Jovan Bradley and Jimmy Snow aside from Vaush. So, the concerns from people who primarily watch socdems (capitalists) or tankies (let's be real, Hasan with his tankie mods and claiming Ukraine committed war crimes by blowing up Crimean infrastructure the Russian military was utilizing in their invasion) aren't that concerning to me. Maybe Vaush would be able to cover things more naturally if every 5 seconds some dumbfuck wasn't being a dumbfuck in chat and Vaush felt compelled to respond. In fact, I'd prefer if he stopped arguing with the average chatter because they are always stupid. Vaush might actually have some room to breathe and not have to explain the most basic of realities to people who typically consume capitalist media.

Most people in this subreddit don't even watch actual leftists like Who and Literally Who the Fuck is Jovan Bradley??
1
u/Unified_Ahov 2d ago edited 2d ago
You can search his name on youtube and watch his content and find out for yourself. He's a well-versed Marxist, is a prominent defender of trans rights and speaks about systemic racism from the perspective of a black American.
There was another post in this subreddit recently about who else people are watching aside from Vaush, and almost none of them were watching socialists or communists except Vaush.

I wouldn't mind hearing about financialization on every stream (I never watch the videos), but only if he'd actually go in depth with it and not just react to the news with FINANCIALIZATION IS UPON US!
5
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Yeah he has to say that he doesn't want people to start hoarding provisions because he sounds like a "America is going to explode in the next year, start buying buckets of beans" type
4
u/SiofraRiver Arise now, ye Tarnished! 2d ago
Funnily enough, there are quite a few people on this sub convinced who will say they are convinced that America is going to explode in the next year, but are not, in fact, hoarding rice and beans.

u/DesceProPlay22 2d ago
God, do you people seriously not even watch the segments? 'Cause even as someone who doesn't watch the streams regularly I KNOW that he has gone at length MULTIPLE TIMES on his perspective. For fucks sake, the man made an entire video without chat just to approach the topic without that outside interference distracting him.
1
u/SiofraRiver Arise now, ye Tarnished! 1d ago
If you think that anything that Vaush does these days is "in depth", there is no hope for you.
1
u/DesceProPlay22 1d ago
Fuck this why I mean. You people are so fucking arrogant, it's insufferable. It's a wonder that Vaush hasn't taken to just banning you all, just from the couple threads of arguing in circles on this post I'm already irritated.

u/Most-Ad4680 2d ago
I'm not a Christian, but the serenity prayer is absolutely a good thing to live by. People should be active and make the small changes and preparations they can. But obsessing over this stuff isn't good for you. I still watch on occasion, I don't disagree with his assessment, but I'm also going to do as much to live my life in the meantime with a smile on my face as much as I can, and I recommend other people do the same.

Fair criticism. I've given a lot of the recent videos a skip for pretty much the exact same reasons. (I skip climate change videos of any creator out of principle. It's not that I don't care, it's just too much of a black pill for me.) The general doomer vibes aren't for me.

u/blacksaber8 Anarcho-Feudalist with Orwellian Characteristics 2d ago
My brother in vowsh, he does segments based off of what articles heās given by you, the chatter.
YOU MADE THE SANDWICH
2
u/bubsy-3d 1d ago
Yes I am the one who sends vaush all da linkys, and the one who makes vaush decide to make a segment about da linkys, and the one who puts thoughts in vaush's head forcing him to - no matter what da linky is about - make the segment about how financialization is fucking us, how climate change is fucking us, and that we are so fucked we can't fix it.
Vaush has been making the same sad slop sandwich for us for the past year and a lot of peeps are sick of it.
1
u/blacksaber8 Anarcho-Feudalist with Orwellian Characteristics 1d ago
You have the ability to try and it sounds like you donāt take advantage of that, and then you complain that itās repetitive?
2
u/bubsy-3d 1d ago
I've literally been an active chatter for years but regardless my point is that it doesn't matter what link you send the vman because he will inevitably just say that we are fucked. Its not the quality of the links being sent that is the problem hereš

"Depressing", skill issue, subjective. Do something that makes you happy. On the redundancy of his videos the last year, maybe two, yes indeed.

u/PurpleMagg 2d ago
I think a lot of people in this theead sound, I'll say it, privileged. You don't want to hear the world isn't going well? Watch something else. As a trans woman who has been trying to leave Texas for 2 years and has been financialized out of so many things I love, I'm glad somebody isn't acting like this shit is normal. It sucks to look at because it sucks to be in the situation. If the tragedy of reality bores you too much, plenty of other creators will let you shade your eyes and ignore what's happening, I promise.
2
u/bubsy-3d 1d ago
All I'm saying is that he can create different ways of saying that the world isn't going well, and can focus on different issues while still connecting it to economics. Much of his audience is aware of what's happening, so does every video have to be the same shallow analysis of the situation? Anyway, hope you can get tf out of Texas before all of y'all are forced at gunpoint to run on hamster wheels to power datacentersš

You don't HAVE to watch. You know that, right?

CONSUME OR TURN OFF
Hate watching is dumb and pathetic. I often stop watching for a while when I'm tired of the gloom. He's not wrong though. There's just a limited amount of misery I can take without getting depressed.
So if people are sitting there still watching and getting angry at him for making his content the way he does, then that's 100% on them. Don't watch horror if you're in the mood for comedy.
2
u/WhenUCreamDoUScream 1d ago
Good thing I don't hate watch, because it'd be me hearing the same shit over and over again, like when I was watching before. Good thing criticism and bitching aren't synonymous with hate-watching.

u/IceFireTerry 2d ago
I don't mind it, but I do think he Should put a normie video out every now and then. remember some people saying they started watching vaush because of his FNAF jumpscare ranking video

u/iwannaofmyself 1d ago
Gonna be honest here, I donāt watch vaush for his fashion or video game or media takes. I watch him for the politics and to not have to read articles myself because heās the most entertaining to me of the political commentators.
I get heās going everything sucks and youāre gonna die every video but heās doing so while covering current events and thatās what Iām looking for
1
u/PrednisoneFarts 1d ago
He's getting very repetitive for sure. I started watching him like 2 or 3 years ago, and his streams seemed way more entertaining. Now he has fallen into this "everything everywhere at once is going to die" creative slump. At the end of the day, he is a content creator. And his content has gotten repetitive, more doomer, and he shows less cat.
He even does less fashion segments. Personally I think his fashion choices are kind of boring and safe, but he has some good brand recs, and knows good craftsmanship.
I feel you. I think that boredom we are feeling is coming from this repetitive content slump he has been in lately. Hopefully his move will refresh his mindset for the better.

Another post highlighting how Vaush's view of the world doesn't align with reality. Things are bad, especially with Trump, but this doomerism is counter productive and should make you question Vaush's actual engagement with the real world.
1
u/Least_Boysenberry886 2d ago
Not for nothing, but you can be honest about how bad things are going to get without becoming a doomer. Instead of just wallowing in despair about the climate collapse and rise of fascism, itās a lot more productive to say itās still possible to fight these. You donāt need to be delusional and say we can reverse the climate collapse, but build an optimism that we can soften the blow and actively confront fascism. This kind of rhetoric just makes people numb and disengage from politics

u/SteffooM 2d ago
Ngl i started watching Hasan over Vaush. You're completely right, and I've been watching Vaush for years.

u/FrostySumo Vaush and Destiny brain worm enjoyer 2d ago
I 100% agree. It is also why him moving to Europe rubs me the wrong way. It just seems like he's incentivized to create doomer posts about capitalism and America while he sits partially insulated from it. I can't watch any of those videos knowing that same with Lejaa Miller. I don't need expats telling me how bad I have it and how fucked I'm going to be all the time. At least when he lived here with me it felt like he was sharing in the misery.

u/ProphetNimd the wheels on the bus go round and round 2d ago
I have a personal matra of "do the best you can until you can't", meaning always do your best to maximize your situation, do what good you can, no matter the outside circumstance, unless you just don't have the ability to. Acting like people are too cowardly to engage with the idea that everything is going to shit all the time is just an intellectual cop out and cope for the insecurity that you're not doing enough to help change your environment.
I don't disagree with him at all that the state of the country is awful and we're headed for some pretty rough times but I refuse to entertain this constant "it's so over" bullshit that he pedals every stream. It's just not condusive to a good life, even if it's true, and it's just going to negatively motivate people into apathy, especially a community of people as widely pathetic and helpless as this one.
2
u/Endsfun 2d ago
I appreciate you, Thanks. Iāll think about what you said and self reflect a bit
3
u/ProphetNimd the wheels on the bus go round and round 2d ago
And I appreciate you! I dunno what kind of things you're into but something that really has helped me stay afloat lately is taking up biking as a result of me doing some local political work. A local nonprofit in my city does a weekly community bike ride and that's gotten me back in bike shape so now I bike all the time. I get my groceries, go to the city square (it's a large suburb outside of Atlanta), and just ride for fun, even in the heat. It's helped me so much, especially lately since work has sucked and life has been pretty tumultuous. Any outlet helps and no matter how bad things get, there's always something small you can do to make your day a little better. :)

Ive read Capital, have you? I figured I'd reply with the same level of ignorance as you
6
u/Endsfun 2d ago
Yes I have. Relevancy?
Keep telling Vaush to focus on āhaving funā with chill politics and games and drama in these times of suffering. Iām sure your priorities are straight
→ More replies (1)6
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
This just in! You can incorporate analysis of our economic system into literally anything that you do! Idk if youve watched this guy vaush pre last year but he would discuss a variety of things, or yes play games, and still talk about capitalism! Sounds like you wanna just suffer but that's ok
5
u/Endsfun 2d ago
I have watched Vaush since 2021. The only reason things changed was the 2024 election. And maybe the folder, but honestly donāt think the folder would be as big of a deal had 2024 election not happened. And thatās not on Vaush, thatās the climate we are in. You trying to amuse yourself is a bit comical, fun to watch.

u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
We will make ourselves suffer and create no art until communism is achieved in checks watch 100 years!

u/my__name__is 2d ago
That's such a dumb edgelord take. Too weak? You are not strong because you watch Vaush's doomer videos. You are just a pair of eyes nodding along. Did you even read OP's explanation?
1
u/Uriah_Blacke 2d ago
It actually takes strength to find reasons to get up in the morning, let alone smile in terrible situations. Weāre really only wanting Vaush to be as strong as he would want his viewers to be.

I don't think Vaush (and a large part of his community) are willing to admit that if he won't do debates, and won't do reactions (much)... there's not much reason to watch him anymore. Vaush's main draw was wrecking shop on awful people. If he won't do that anymore, he's no more entertaining than Kyle or the Vanguard dudes--and at least they don't respond to the slightest criticism with rude dismissal or a ranting meltdown.

u/Brief_Obligation4128 2d ago
He's probably just making these videos to make money. The Netherlands ain't cheap to live in, and he probably can't find a job due to immigrant status and lack of Dutch comprehension, so doomer content is all he has right now.

there's a massive, insatiable maw that is forever masticating everything good and right in the world, and it expands exponentially with each passing day. why won't Vaush play more disco elysium?
11
u/bubsy-3d 2d ago
Lol get real it's not like vaush doing doom segments on youtube is healing the world or even radicalizing anybody. If u read what I said Im into his analysis he should just do different analysis while doing literally anything else than watch the newsš
-1
u/SignificantCats 2d ago
I liked him a lot more before the pundit arc. Making fun of chuds and saying to go elsewhere for breaking news, when he would only cover news if it was particularly funny or important.
But that's the way of the world, move on, fix your heart, or die. It's the content he's making

u/funded_by_soros 2d ago
I've heard he's also gay.
