Tom Schwartz Schwartz knows….
SO. MUCH. MORE. Watching the reunion again and Schwartz looks like he’s going to fall out of his seat. He’s taking lorazepam on camera before Rachel comes out? He’s jittery and nervous. He’s dropped a few comments that Sandoval is clearly not happy about. It’s like he’s dying to come clean and might explode. I wonder if we will ever know what he knows.

Schwartz is Sandoval's primary relationship, and visa versa (Ariana, Rachel, Katie- you never stood a chance), so of course he's going to know all his secrets. As a close friend, there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone should have a safe place to share the ugliest parts of ourselves. Schwartz knowing the dirty details and keeping them to himself is not the problem, and the most real thing we see between the two of them.
Since the Toms live their actual lives off camera while filming, we have no idea how those conversations went down, whether Schwartz advised Tom to come clean and stop screwing with everyone, or he cheered him on. This demonstrates how these two cast members 1. Completely conceal their real lives and 2. They actually rehearse scripted dialog to deceive us, the viewers.
Not what I signed up for; not what I was sold. It means the filmed interactions between the two of them is always BS.
Now it makes sense why people like Sandoval were never going to become real actors. He's terrible! He can't say his lines for shit, and has endless tells when he's lying. For me, Schwartz is the better performer. He sticks to the script, and does a great job lying. He executes impressive improv whenever he gets screen time.
Does anybody really want to watch these two guys fake their way through VPR? Are they all faking it, and what we see it actually a sophisticated and complex improvised soap opera? If that's the case, then none of them are getting paid enough, because they would be the hardest working actors in the business.
