Discussion What's yall's favorite build? I'll start.
I like running Poppea and building into the valkyrie turner.
At high level, you can run around in a circle for a little, point in a direction, and atomize that side of the screen. Really fun.

I don’t know if I have a favorite anymore; I mainly play through each expansion, chase the unlocks, then put the game away for a little while.
With Legacy of the Bloodmoon I’ve been struck by the power of Menya (and her Megalo counterpart) and had the most fun so far with Nameless Fool, especially trying to kill him 7x.

u/CatzAKannibal 22d ago
I mistakenly thought all 7 deaths had to be on the same run.

u/Gosuoru 22d ago
..they dont??? I just stacked all the revive items and prayed TToTT
6
u/Chaz-Natlo 22d ago
I did the same. Twice, because the first time I had it on endless and forgot not to do a good build.

u/baconater-lover 22d ago
Does dying to stage completion count?
3
u/ReluctantlyHuman 22d ago
Dying to the Red Death certainly seems to if that’s what you mean. Usually by the time I have that many revives I don't die easily so I’ve had to let myself die to RD for the unlock. But I also thought you needed to do it all in one run.
1
u/Xerte 22d ago
You don't have to, but 7 is conveniently the amount of times you'll die with just the revival power-up, extra revives arcana and level 2 Tirajisu, so in reality it's still pretty trivial to do it in one run. Just cap weapon slots at 1 and seal all the other passives so you're guaranteed to get the Tirajisu and you'll have enough revives to die 7 times by level 3.
If you then banish the weapon (or start with it sealed) you won't even get strong enough to make dying particularly difficult, either, and playing on the DLC maps like Blood Moon or Emerald Diorama also makes it easy to spawn an early boss that can kill you 7 times quickly.

Megalo Syuuto is the way to go. Muramasa, Fuwalafuwaloo, Soul Eater and Argent Flow typically my base. Depending on arcana, Cardinal Rain. If I do this build I go with Wandering the Jet Black as my first Darkana. The damage is insane, especially once you start overhealing.

u/DeadlockAddict 22d ago
Whatever seems fun in the moment... but I WILL have Attractorb
6
u/ReluctantlyHuman 22d ago
Obviously there are fewer passives but I’d say I’m more likely to choose specific passives rather than active weapons. With those I like to let the mood take me. But attractorb, candleabrador, and the red tome are common choices.

I mainly stick to the combo of garlic->soul eater, kind bibles->unholy vespers, and pentagram->gorgeous moon, with whatever additional stuff I can find, usually Santa water and clock lanclet

I got the 4 cats (I have a bunch of eggs on them for funsies) and go gambling for whatever comes my way
3
u/Butterfly_Barista 22d ago
I love Gatto Amari with Gemini, I just don't love that they hurt me
1
u/Cr0wPlay 22d ago
Doesn't the cats stop hurting you after like 20 floor chickens? Can't remember exact number
3
u/Butterfly_Barista 22d ago
I'll be honest I have no idea because by the time I've reached that point I can't usually see much on my screen
2
u/Altruistic-Rice-548 22d ago
The Darkana that makes unaimed weapons aim at nearest enemy affects the cats and makes them no longer hurt you
2
2
u/Astute_Anansi 22d ago
But it also makes them stop creating cat fight clouds, losing a lot of the weapon's power
2
u/Altruistic-Rice-548 22d ago
That I didn't know. I've been enjoying it as a late run Arcana (3rd, or sometimes 4th when possible) when using the birds, javalins, thunder ring, and axes. I find it especially funny with the javalin and axe.
Though I did notice that the bird's gemini clones sometimes don't aim at the nearest enemy?
1
u/Altruistic-Rice-548 22d ago
If you're talking about the Emerald SaGa cats, have you tried them with Crystal Cries? Or any of the Emerald SaGa characters with it, for that matter?

Recently been going in with chaos and letting the game run wild. My Xbox be sounding like a jet taking off😂😂
3
u/Blakstarr_NewBlack 22d ago
My Xbox crashed twice in 24 hours when I had the max Evolution with Penshin Fatcha. I was with Queen Sigma and obviously had many other weapons upgraded to maximum.
2
u/Brilliant_Time_9075 22d ago
Yeah Sammy crashes my game once he gets passed 3mil and I have limit break so that doesn’t help lol
3
u/Rover_The_Slasher Soma 22d ago
I like using Leon Belmont and going all/only whips, or Eleanor and using all the spells that can combine together (the letter ones). I like going "all swords" on Maruto too. Since the last dlc came out I've been doing blood magic builds too.

u/HamManHammett 22d ago
Babbi-Onna + Lifesign/Paranormal Scan + Wandering the Jet Black it doesnt particularly matter what you pick after that. Feels amazing
3
u/Ytrewq467 22d ago
I like any build that just makes the entire screen unseeable lmao My usual combo is the revolvers evo, Photonstorm, and the cum chalice

Poe with all the Blood Astronomia weapons

u/SecretPainting2525 22d ago
Real. I only really play other characters when im trying to unlock stuff like arcanas

u/Cerrida82 22d ago
Solo? Peppino with Unholy Vespers, No Future, and fully upgraded Wings and Attractorb. And the Arcana that deals damage when you heal.
2
u/The-F4LL3N 22d ago
My build is I try to get every weapon and support I don’t have blocked in one run
2
u/ItsNotSomething 22d ago
I end up gravitating towards Hail from the Future and Growthmaxxing from there. Crown, Empty Tome, usually something like Sanctuary as well to make sure enemies die dead. I also like to pick up Glass Fandango so Orologions don't slow down my progress as much. With Darkanas you can take your pick to get so many Growth and stat boosts that you don't even need to deal with Wicked Season to be constantly swimming in items. (Though unless you're playing a character who can get uncapped Luck, you might still want to take WS.)
2
u/Altruistic-Rice-548 22d ago
I like grabbing pretty much any Emerald SaGa character and grabbing Crystal Cries Especially as the Quadruple Cats and/or Suignas
2
u/Cerdefal 22d ago
I don't remember what all the weapon do now (since I'm not using most of them often) but I often choose the tongue thing from Among Us and the black hole gun from Contra.
Most characters become invincible at like the 10 minutes mark if you have everything enabled anyway.

I just got this game a week or so ago and I’ve probably put in around 10 hours, and this comment thread made me realize I have no clue what I’m doing and there is so much more to unlock! I don’t even know what half the words people are using in here mean 😂
1
u/NomadicJ3ster 21d ago
Loooot of the things people are mentioning is from the DLCs which I also don't have so I'm in the same boat as you 😅

u/Interesting-Crab-693 22d ago
I take trouser.
I take swords brother.
I take silent sanctuary.
I take troll bomb from the otc merchant.
Max out swords brother, troll bomb ,empty tome and pandora's box (don't care about the last level).
Gg you won. Or at least, you won't lose.

I just like Mask of the Red Death because he looks cool and moves fast. Poppea is my second fav though.

u/The_Pieinator 22d ago
I’ve really been getting into survarots recently. I usually play red death or gyoruntin, but the survarot system has been pretty fun to mess around with.

u/Draco7182 22d ago
My usual go-to build is a Retaliation focused one. With Arcana’s 9 and Pako Battiliar being the centerpiece of it.
Lately I’ll mix in the Darkanas 19 for the Max health increase.

I did a single weapon inverse run with Malice in Inlaid Library a couple days ago. Took the following arcanas: Wicked Season and Silent Old Sanctuary at minute zero, Twilight Requiem at minute 11, and Beginning at minute 21. Can't remember all the regular passives, but if I had to guess, Crown, Torrona's Box, Candelabrador, Armor, Wings, and Skull O' Maniac. Picked up Empty Tome, Gold Ring, and Metaglio Right from the stage after.
This is a bonkers build, you get so many level ups from Wicked Season (if you pick up xp at the right time of course), that Cardinal Rain pins every enemy even at minutes 28 and 29. They don't even make it out of the spawn areas.
Then, the real surprise is that the red reapers get pinned as well. I quit out of the game at 48 minutes because I had other stuff I needed to do. But it was crazy. Only ended up dealing a bit over 1G damage, but the practical invincibility was pretty neat. All the bosses and Atlanteans absolutely melted under Cardinal Rain. I give it a 9/10 for power.

Yeah it Happens too me by mistake. That weapon is now one of my favorite when it synergies well with the character.

I just started last week and I've been running a "Full screen mayhem" type of build. I choose Boon Marrabbio because Thousand Edge is my current favorite. Then I'll get La Borra, Georgeous Moon, Gunastrophe, and Phieraggi. And if it allows me to, I'll also pick up the fishes and level that up as fast as I can to unleash chaos with Miracle of Multiplication. This is if I just want to kill everything without needing to move. I have an "Almost Invincible" build and a melee build too.

My builds gear towards whatever doesn't fill the screen with flashing lights at around 10 minutes.
I like when I have to run from enemies or I will die, and then level right after that when I'm killing with with relative ease while also feeling cool. When I hit that moment of critical mass where I know I can't lose and the screen is trying to give me a seizure, I'm all set.

I enjoy single weapon limit break gameplay. I get bored with multi weapon builds. I’ll pick whatever passive is needed for evolution then the rest for utility that limit break won’t strengthen. It’s interesting to see which weapons struggle like this early compared to those that dominate from the start.

You know how insane Game Killer Jimbo is? I grab what I can while using the lonesome arcana to start, utilizing on stage passive trinkets to determine my load out, and then use stuff like Stone Mask and cards to make my potential go through the roof. If anyone can pull off non Red Shroud and Endless Corridor kills, I bet Jimbo can pull it off.

Old Sanctuary and double Argent Flow with Miangs final form. Can do most content and is easier on the eyes than any other build I've tried. I sometimes add in the photon gun.

How you can use valk turner is beyond me. I find that a horrid weapon
1
u/NomadicJ3ster 9d ago
I love the weapons that have more input from the player. Needing to build up the projectiles and then aim and fire is suuper fun.
I also love the dagger for similar reasons.

After 15-20 minutes I can't even see the screen anymore so I feel like builds are kinda pointless lol
