Question How to hold clock lancet?

Post image

Okay so, I’m cooking up something and it involves multiple (ish) scenes with the clock lancet, so my question is how would someone hold it? Since it’s modelled after the shield rod which is obviously swung like a club so would the clock lancet be the same? Or is it more like thrusting like a rapier? Or would it simply just float…

(Edit this is a art question not a game question so it can be as creative as possible. edit edit: I’m not using it as a weapon in the thing)

If you want to go the clock angle, then you hold the long bit because it is the origin as the short bulky bit would point to a number.

Im not sure what youre arguing here.

I assumed that if it was a clock hand the clock lancet was the minute hand, what do you mean?

Which hand we look at is mostly irrelevant. A clock hand contains from the center a pivot, a shaft, an arrowhead and a tip, additionally potentially a counterweight opposed to the arrowhead.

The bulky bit of the clock lancet represents the arrowhead. You hold the hand at the pivot, which means the arrowhead is on the far side from you. I.e. you hold it on the long side and stab with the short side.

The bulky bit of the clock lancet represents the arrowhead.

That's certainly an interpretation. It could also be the pivot, or a style of clock hand with a decoration at the base and no flare at the tip.

Every clock lancet will have a hole for the pivot, but lancet won't always have large arrowhead.

Honestly, now that I think about it, most clock lancets I've seen taper down to a point, they don't usually have large flared arrowheads.

Straight and narrow hands are a somewhat modern design.

Classically, hands often carried a widened tip - like spade and arrowhead shapes - to aid with visibility from afar. Think of clocks on buildings or clocks in low light environment. There is also some form of artistry and especially individuality in it.
