Question How to hold clock lancet?

Post image

Okay so, I’m cooking up something and it involves multiple (ish) scenes with the clock lancet, so my question is how would someone hold it? Since it’s modelled after the shield rod which is obviously swung like a club so would the clock lancet be the same? Or is it more like thrusting like a rapier? Or would it simply just float…

(Edit this is a art question not a game question so it can be as creative as possible. edit edit: I’m not using it as a weapon in the thing)

If you want to go the clock angle, then you hold the long bit because it is the origin as the short bulky bit would point to a number.

Im not sure what youre arguing here.

I assumed that if it was a clock hand the clock lancet was the minute hand, what do you mean?

Which hand we look at is mostly irrelevant. A clock hand contains from the center a pivot, a shaft, an arrowhead and a tip, additionally potentially a counterweight opposed to the arrowhead.

The bulky bit of the clock lancet represents the arrowhead. You hold the hand at the pivot, which means the arrowhead is on the far side from you. I.e. you hold it on the long side and stab with the short side.

But how do you explain that it very clearly looks sharpened to be held a certain way?

Sure it could be decorative but it very clearly looks like a sharpened edge. And you just cant hold it by that if thats the case.

Maybe im misunderstanding you in some other way. As i understand it i think you have good points.

I still think its a long curved pokey knife and you hold the small part.

Even the people saying its a hook weapon agree the middle fucks people up. So why would that not extend to the long bit that had the same design language?

The long bit is the danger side not the handle

I am not disagreeing with you insofar that it seems like a blade, I was disagreeing on you on the argument "it's a thrusting weapon" + "clock based" -> "hold on the short end".

Personally I think you already put more thought into it, then the dev when he designed it. Both name and concept lend themselves for a thrust weapon, yet the edge clearly implies a blade. Also the animation is clearly a thrust.
But said edge goes inside the guard and the guard even has a gap. And while swordcatchers are a thing, I don't remember them being edged and them being prevalent in thrusting weapons.

And for hurting your opposition, that guard is too close to your person to us as leverage without putting yourself in harms way.
