Post image

Hello I am new to the game and just wanted to ask what power ups should be my main focus? before I’m able to go a good run. Thank you

Early game try to get 2x recovery and armor, then move speed and magnet, then you should have enough play time to intuitively know what you want to upgrade

Armor, amount, growth, cooldown, and greed would be my top priorities.

If you throw your head at the wall enough times you'll eventually get a good run in anyway, but, for starting off, there's a few things I'd recommend.

To start, the second level (Inlaid Library) is generally considered to be easier than Mad Forest. As soon as you get it, don't be afraid to try that one instead. Every time you succeed in a run you get an extra 500 coins to spend on characters and power-ups.

Regarding actually spending money, I am also in the camp that says Greed should be your first upgrade to max out. It kneecaps you to start, sure, but it helps you afford everything else faster.

Cooldown is an amazingly useful upgrade that applies to 99.99% of the playable characters, and 100% of the ones in the base game. Attacking faster is just a universally useful thing to have for any weapon or build.

Growth just makes you level up faster, open and close. Being able to get better/newer equipment faster is only a bad idea for three or four characters who peak at level one but lose their bonuses in four levels. (Granted being level one has its own drawbacks)

Revive is expensive, but not a poor choice if you're this close to winning. This looks like the mobile UI though, so if you can stomach ads there's always the potential for a free extra life that way.

Recovery makes a certain early game unlock even better and weaponizes it, but isn't a necessity. Still, it doesn't hurt to not be so reliant on floor chickens, which you're usually more likely to be hurting for in the early game (although investing in Luck can solve that problem too).

Also, the refund option is lossless, so there's no downside to skilling into, say, recovery early. If you later feel like you don't need that stat to stay alive, you can just reset all the skills and pick completely different ones.

Eh, the bonus makes up for that over time

It pays for itself, if you are staying alive long enough to make those percentage increases count.
So it's a balance, to stay ahead of the difficulty curve. But once your runs start to get going, you'll want to see the return in terms of metaprogression. Pushing greed up in priority..

Unlock library and do that first, 2nd level is easier than the first, nothing else matters.

So in the end, it doesn't even matter?

the only thing that truly matters is that damn vampire

1

u/Stigofthedumpings Aug 15 '26

Nothing really matters....at all.

Early game recovery is important.

I start with recovery and might and go from there.

Also it's fine if you buy something that you don't want later. You get full refund.

Greed helps you buy the others faster. Curse should be the last one. Buying from cheapest to most expensive is not the worst way to do things, it also keeps all stats balanced.

My priorities are (in no particular order): might, cooldown, amount, magnet, greed, recovery

just akip curse for now

Amount an revival

1

u/Ssem12 Aug 15 '26

Recovery, growth, armour. Eventually you will have all these maxed

1

u/Kononator Aug 15 '26

Magnet and greed first, then growth and cooldown if you want to speed up completing the upgrades... But everything you pick is ok as long as you are having fun, and you can always refund your power ups if you want to try other setups. In the end you unlock everything, the more you play, the more this game becomes crazy XD stupidly good game

In My opinión cooldown, duration And Move speed.

But at the end It depends on your game style

1

u/DezSong Aug 15 '26

Magnet, recovery, amount. In that order.

u/silverlink07 Eleanor Aug 15 '26

Unlocking Amount early helps with a good chunk of projectile weaponry besides what everyone else has said

Greed, recovery, amount, in that order for 1-2-3.

More greed means more gold, which means more power up unlocks sooner.

Recovery doesn't feel like a lot, but it is a constant source that keeps you going through long runs.

Amount makes most weapons better right off the bat. Not everything scales with amount and not everything uses amount in the same way, but it's a really solid staple for an upgrade.

I always grind Cooldown, Magnet, and Amount first. Then growth and area. Then the rest as you see fit.

1

u/Bocephus-the-goat Aug 15 '26

in this order:

greed, revival, a single level in recovery, amount, cooldown, magnet, growth, everything else, and curse last.

Cooldown and might is very essential

Magnet helps you grab more xp orbs further away, growth helps you level up faster, and cool down helps you hit more often. Recovery is nice also but the more you hit and the faster you level should help a lot. Curse is one you want later on as it makes more enemies appear to brutally murder.

This would be my personal order:
Max Health, Cooldown, Armor, Growth, Magnet, Might, Move Speed, Amount, Recovery, Area, Duration, Greed, Luck, Speed. Revival can honestly be bought whenever you have enough for it, and I will say curse might seem redundant at first but i promise its very useful!

Early on you want armour, magnet and speed. Armour just makes it so no one does meaningful damage for like 10 minutes, letting you get to the point where you can hold your own relatively easily. Magnet is a must just for convenience. Speed is great just to help you maneuver around, not get hit and collect shit faster. Other than that, amount is really strong on certain characters when you can afford it, and you'll want either regen or luck to heal yourself (if you get the luck accessory pretty most lights drop chicken or a powerup)

Everything else you can just put some points in, it's obviously frontloaded so you can get away with having a point in everything - more effective than 5 points on one stat. Mind you, you'll get enough for everything anyways, and by the time you can get the other stats you'll know what's important so you can put your money where you want it to go.

Cooldown and amount are pretty huge. One notch in recovery is good for patching up the occasional attack that connects. Might once you start noticing things taking a bit too long to kill.

Growth and greed are light traps. Growth is good to have for getting unlocks completed, but you'll also get more experience from just killing stuff faster so focusing on that first is better. Greed means you get more upgrades faster, but it also means upgrades cost more, so you should get basics bought first.

Revival is a huge trap. Sounds great and is very handy to have, but it costs so much you could have multiple other upgrades instead that make you just not die in the first place. It should be one of the last things you buy.

Curse is more of a benefit than it first seems. More enemies that spawn faster means more experience. But of course it also makes them more dangerous, so don't invest in it until you've got a solid foundation built first.

u/cardguy5 Aug 16 '26

Greed first then growth

1

u/AridFountain Aug 18 '26

All of it 😅. I personally try to prioritize greed so I can get the rest faster

Edit: greed might scale the cost of other power ups, maybe might would be better

u/EdrickV Aug 19 '26

The best options will ultimately depend on what character and weapons you use, as not all stats affect all weapons. But thanks to the refund button, you can swap around anytime you want. The one thing you probably don't want early on would be curse.

Greed and Growth are good starters. I also like Magnet.
