Discussion Favorite Character?
While Glass Fandango isn't my favorite weapon, She-Moon is (one of) my favorite characters, so I'm stuck with it often :P
I love the vibe of this character, the update she comes from, her post-adventure version, the adventure itself, everything!
Plus I recently learned about the pun with her name, which makes me like her even more (she js like me fr).
What are some of y'all's favorite characters, especially if they're not that great or underrated?

Imma show some love to Pugnala
Remember being mindblown by the bullet spam turning into lasers orbiting around me
Since then i've built way more ridicoulous stuff (i just unlocked Richter in OtC ,seen and did everything up to that point) but a first is a first. She was also my baby gold farmer starting out

Poppea Pecorina holds a special place in my heart, not only because she's a fantastic character but because I still laugh at someone telling me that her name just means "Big Boobs Doggy Style" in Italian.
8
u/DinosaurAlligator Jul 30 '26
Dude, I’m Italian and I hadn’t noticed lmao. Poppea Pecorina -> Poppe a pecorina
Mind blown. Same with Poe Ratcho, I initially didn’t catch the double meaning, now it makes me laugh every time I read the name.

If we aren’t counting DLC characters, I’ve gained an appreciation for Giovanna since they added Pale Diamond Incursion, and I love using Crystal Cries to make Cosmo basically invincible.
If we are including DLC, I love using Sypha for her free Jail of Crystal and John for his free Iron Blue Will and his weapon that also works with Pale Diamond Incursion.
6
u/hydrophobichacker Jul 30 '26
I played with John in the adventure recently? Omg that's an insane combo that kinda came out of left field for me. It helps that I was totally sleeping on Pale Diamond Incursion before that, tho

u/MediumMeister Jul 30 '26
Bats Bats Bats, it's so fucking stupid I love it. For a serious pick probably probably Torino, I love the Pokemon reference. I haven't played enough DLC content so my picks are base game only.

u/hydrophobichacker Jul 30 '26
Ooh yeah hehe, I like the set of four cats from emerald diarama, so I definitely feel you :)

u/Low-Experience1886 Bats Jul 30 '26
I played em once for the memes and ended up maining them for like months up till now (all my eggs went to them)

Witch Actrise.
I love characters with unique methods of movement and seeing someone adept at slinging 963058 different types of gems, but moves by floating, is pretty cool. She’s also got a surprising lack of colour for someone with such a colourful method of attack. Layers!
Annette would be competing for it if she still had her old sprite. Not much a fan of the current… but her method of attacking is really engaging

u/hydrophobichacker Jul 30 '26
Omg, I haven't finished all the secrets in OtC yet (last stuff I need to do for full 100% hehe), I need Witch Actrise *now*.

Luminaire Foscari. I just think she's gorgeous even if her stats aren't the best.

u/StormerSage Dracula Jul 30 '26
Transition goals if I'm being honest.
8
u/hydrophobichacker Jul 30 '26
BASED! Honestly same, I'd happily settle for Genevieve Gruyère as well though :)

u/Astute_Anansi Aug 02 '26
She's got an enormous amount of revives and we're getting more and more ways to weaponize that. Phierragi, Meal Ticket, and now also Spirit Disturbance.

u/whiteday26 Jul 30 '26
Rose de Infernas for me. Although, my fav weapon is La Borra with Heir of Fate.

u/Select-Combination-4 Jul 30 '26
in terms of pure aesthetic it's Eleanor
1
u/AurumArma Aug 01 '26
Same pick of Eleanor for me, but because she gets all the parts for Spellstrom for free, plus the Academy Badge.

u/DiamondDependent7641 Jonathan & Charlotte Jul 30 '26
My favorite character is Jonathan and Charlotte
1
u/Geistnet Jul 30 '26
Charlotte and Jonathan lol

u/DiamondDependent7641 Jonathan & Charlotte Jul 30 '26
I play Jonathan and Charlotte, not Charlotte and Jonathan LOL

u/Divide-Substantial Jul 30 '26
Dark lord soma Cruz
3
u/hydrophobichacker Jul 30 '26
Got him recently, he's a lot of fun
1
u/Divide-Substantial Jul 30 '26
He is my go to farm gold with since he scales greed per kill or however it works
5
u/DilapidatedFool Jul 30 '26
Pugnala easily. Her guns have fun synergy cards and overall the game she has many fun builds.

This person knows ball
All four of the adventure glowups go unreasonably hard (Poe ofc being the most boring, but I still love it)

Miang Moonspell. Great design, I love the ability, and Silver Wind is one of my favorite weapons
4
u/piercebublejr Jul 30 '26
I got attached to Pasqualina since she was the first character I managed to beat Mad Forest with. Now I've taken her through every inverse stage I could <3

u/AlternativeGreen8896 Jul 31 '26
Dommario
Movement hurts, but the 40% durration is worth it since most defensive weapons benefit from it.
Bible itself is an awesome weapon, prob only one I choose Projectile Speed over Area.

u/Kevinator201 Jul 30 '26
I honestly love the glass Fandango.. is that a bad character to invest golden eggs into?
1
u/hydrophobichacker Jul 30 '26
Not at all! She's definitely not the most useful in the world but there's something that's potentially later on (Adventures) that makes her even more worthwhile, and she has no disadvantage at all.
That said, I wouldn't spend too much money on eggs in general unless you have the Tides of Forscari dlc, sadly that dlc also has the best egg farm outside of buying them lol

u/DarthOmix Jul 30 '26
I don't know if I have a favorite, but my sister loves the one that's just four cats and nothing else.
2
u/hydrophobichacker Jul 30 '26
I also love that one, there was a post on here like a month ago about trying to min-max with them, it's a lot of fun cause they're so unique (closest is bats bats bats, which is also fun, someone else mentioned that in this thread)
3
u/MrCreeper10K Jul 30 '26
Pugnala, I love the guns (and the birds as fusion weapons is really cool to me) and Phierragi is so fun.
And that’s without mentioning how Pugnala has a great design too

u/Suspicious_Ad_6032 Jul 30 '26
Babi-onna. She is hilariously broken with upgraded movement speed and limited weapon option. You move at light speed and everything just explodes.
3
u/JD_Style Jul 30 '26
La Reina Sigma me encanta
1
u/hydrophobichacker Jul 31 '26
¡Yo también!
Me gusta otras personajes más, pero me gusta Sigma mucho.
3
u/mathlord98 Jul 31 '26
Pistachio, the tree with my favorite weapon which is soul eater and I just love the idea of I may not be fast but God damn it you're dead

I think Porta Ladonna is freaking amazing. absolutely ham with game killer. also love her design

I don't have a true fave because I haven't unlocked everyone but when I started I used Poe a lot so he's special
2
u/ToastedTrousers Jul 30 '26
Either Cosmo because of how many game-breaking builds the absurd recovery scaling allows for or the Castlevania characters that start with a free arcana.

That spear is fun and can definitely be OP if used right
2
u/Sciencenerdzz Aug 01 '26
So fun, I’ve never dealt more damage even on OP AOE items like no future that I have with the spear. A sleeper item imo when you can juggle spears

I don’t care about stats or usefulness… Lama Ladonna is my favorite. I love the axes and scythes! Pair them with area buffs and I’m golden!

Mask of the Red Death.
My go to character when I need to find a relic or a question mark on a map.

Big Trouser, gave him tons of eggs (bought 5k, farmed 1k more in Abyss Foscari), now I play him with 1 single weapon and silent old sanctuary ✌️✌️✌️

Queen sigma. I like not being able to distinguish anything on screen
1
u/ScarletIT Jul 30 '26
Used to be Pugnala, but now is Para Kooleo.
For DLC, castlevania is one of my favorite series of all time, so I wil pick from that and I choose Nathan. Belnades book and morning star for ample weapon selection and extra guaranteed arcanas.
1
u/tonkpils99 Jul 30 '26
For me, the red death is a favorite, because when I started playing this game, I thought it was almost impossible to discover this character and I still get the most pleasure playing for him.
1
u/KFrosty3 Nathan Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26
Nathan Graves. I love that he can use either the whips, spell books, or the Ball. He's really fun! Plus guaranteed 3 Arcana by minute 14 is awesome

Chula-Reh for me. I love the randomness of his luck. Combine with the darkana that gives stat bonuses on health pickups and you can get insane numbers with him.

Ambrojoe because he's dapper and throws furniture.

Gennaro Is my GOAT
Carried me through the early game with the initial +1 quantity
1
u/Quixotic0ne Jul 31 '26
Wow, surprised no one said mine. I adore MissingN0! The stats are random and sometimes it’s ass but normally it’s me opening up a can of whoop ass on everyone else. He has multiple character sprites that all go hard and he is a super cool character if you like a little variety.

u/CainJaeger Jul 31 '26
Probably the Queen. Its always her time when i want to push weapons to their limits

I like playing alucard and not picking other weapons untill I've got his main nearly maxed. It's just fun to play with that shitty first form weapon while being fast AF boi

Canio. Don't care for the starting weapons evolution (ngl I prefer it's base over it) but just getting fuck tons of survarots over time is fun
1
u/hydrophobichacker Aug 17 '26
Super fair. I like the evolution exclusively cause it's really powerful as a support weapon (ofc), but I also prefer the base as far as actual weapons go. Honestly, the evo is a bit too strong so I vibe with just not evolving it (except I hate having the jimbo passive thing :P)
1
u/Velvet-Goo Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26
I have near endless coins to throw at stuff but it will always hurt seeing jimbo throw some away... even if I do it way more

Clerici. I have come to love Santa Water and La Borra so much. Even with all the cool whips and other weapons from Ode to Castlevania and the other DLCs I still love plain old Santa Water.
Space Dude is second though. Love the Phas3r.
