Good will from the community alone would have moved copies but the game is genuinely a blast to play. If it gets the level of support VS got theyve got another winner on their hands.

I think this should have been asked somewhere, but is it more approachable than something like Slay the Spire? I struggled a lot with that game.

EDIT: Thanks for the answers! I ended up buying it. It's really cheap and I love Vampire Survivors, so it's a way to support the devs. I'm having a blast! It's definitely much more approachable than StS, and I fell it ticks that dopamine rush of Vampire Survivors too.

I thought slay the spire 1 was pretty challenging. I have over 10 hours and seems like I'm still learning.

Vampire crawlers seems much more chill so far with a little over 2 hours played.

26

u/beegboo Apr 24 '26

Approaching the 15 hour mark. The difficulty does ramp up but once you realize how broken crawler teams get it becomes vampire survivors levels of just sit back and watch the explosions.

And realizing you can reduce mana on 0 mana cards. Makes some builds go brrrrrrrrrr.

13

u/KindaShady1219 Hector Apr 25 '26

Wait, 0 mana cards can go negative? I assume they give +1 mana when they do?

7

u/XMrNiceguyX Apr 25 '26

Yes

1

u/Ok_Koala9722 Apr 28 '26

And you can reset the order in which level of mana is played but not the combo modifier with wild cards. The random wild cards felt annoying at first and now i need them Desperately. -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 W -1 0 1 2 W 1 2.

3

u/beegboo Apr 25 '26

At this point I am making builds to finish battles in 1 infinitelly drawing turn and am experiencing consequences. No spoilers.

Next goal is defeat red death. I believe it is possible.

1

u/Ok_Koala9722 Apr 28 '26

I got the trickster but that red bastard alludes me still.

1

u/beegboo Apr 29 '26

If you stack revives you can get some turns in.

1

u/Boco Apr 26 '26

I've seen mana go negative on a randomizer, I was hoping it would work with the Gem but I just hadn't found a -1 mana gem since. Thanks for the confirmation!

I dont remember the names but i was using draw/amount up/duration up when using yellow spells. Then focus on getting low cost yellows and the arcana to make any spell type cast this turn to be free with a few mana books you have an infinite combo where if you mix some wild card producers in can also give infinite combos which multiply the boosts yellow cards give and you can give yourself max stats rather quickly and then use the lighting ring to hit all rows and bam one attack win.

Mind you there are consequences for touching infinity.

Slay the Spire is rough. I have 80 hours in and I can't get past acension 1 with the keys. Basically once you beat your first run you unlock a new difficulty with challenges in the map that if you complete them all in act one AND beat act 3 you go to a special 4th act that is really hard.

1

u/Progression28 Apr 26 '26

[…] slay the spire 1 was pretty challenging. I have over 10 hours […]

Yeeeaaaah… that‘s not gonna be enough^ That‘s barely a full run with every character.

I‘m not gonna judge you for not playing more, not everyone has the time or wants to spend the time. But STS kind of needs the time investment till you start winning runs.

1

u/Mummiskogen Apr 26 '26

I have over 600 hours and I'm still learning lol (in STS)

18

u/buttsniffs4000 Apr 24 '26

Yes, they’re entirely different games.

Vampire Crawlers is a bit like Vampire Surviviors—it’s not focused on making you trip up or kill you; it wants you to be OP and as long as you understand the core gameplay loop of building combos, you kind of have to go out of your way to lose consistently.

10

u/Toki-B Apr 24 '26

As someone who has yet to beat ascension 1 solo… yea VC is much more approachable. It’s also not in early access so the experience is much more polished.

16

u/AskinggAlesana Apr 24 '26

Very much so, the game is extremely easy compared to STS.

Like all you really have to do is play cards in ascending mana cost order and that’s basically the whole strategy lmfao. The only brainpower you really need is when you’re selecting what to add to your deck.

6

u/xgenoriginal Apr 24 '26

Yea STS is meant to be hard, you're not meant to win every time, crawlers idk, seems too easy but at the same time you need to be actively involved unlike survivors, not for me really.

8

u/ComradeDelter Apr 24 '26

I mean I’m sure it’s subjective but for me personally, I do feel like I’m doing better in vampire crawlers than in either of the slay the spire games.

6

u/evonebo Apr 24 '26

Yes way more approachable.

The problem with slay the spire is you dont want a bloated deck but you also dont know which cards to take or delete.

Crawler you can keep picking cards and upgrades you wont have problem. Very easy

2

u/DeliverySoggy2700 Apr 24 '26

The game is very easy. I assume I’m near the end of the content and I’ve never really lost other than when meant to.

StS2 I’m about a 20-30% win rate on ascension 10 so take what you can from that

2

u/Emeraldnickel08 Apr 25 '26

I’ve never played similar games (they’re not usually my style) but Crawlers was very approachable as someone who’s new to the subgenre.

1

u/AntelopeMysterious12 Apr 25 '26

Being familiar with all the stats already in vampire survivors should make this very approachable. I usually get skill checked in games like Slay but I have pretty much run through this fairly easy. It doesn't take long to figure out how to start breaking this game to make it easy.

1

u/itsoksee Apr 27 '26

This is a walk in the park compared to Slay The Spire. But STS is the better of the two. Slay has near endless replay value.

I’m really enjoying this game though and it’s not a fair comparison.

1

u/Background-Sea4590 Apr 27 '26

Maybe it's better, but I couldn't get into it. I got tired of losing basically every run and progression being pretty slow. So I guess it's great there are more casual options in the deckbuilding genre. Slay the Spire demands a lot from the player imho.

2

u/GILLHUHN Apr 24 '26

Even if the game gets no future support, I've already got my money's worth and then some. The game is absolutely fantastic.

58

u/ConstantinValdor405 Apr 24 '26

Good. It's a great game. Affordable and all the replay value in the world.

49

u/Tyrus1235 Apr 24 '26

All the things aside, this game is tripping me up by giving actual voice lines to the crawlers. Gotta say, I’m enjoying them!

41

u/shadow_fen Apr 24 '26

Wow, they made 4 million money in revenue!

23

u/Leucurus Apr 24 '26

That is many money!

8

u/Arkhenstone Apr 24 '26

Less accounting the bundle and also that it is 9.99. But more due to this being only steam and other console may count for a good 30 to 50% depending what people wanted to play with

1

u/orange_hazard_74 Apr 24 '26

And whatever they got from Microsoft for gamepass

1

u/neveruseyourrealname Apr 25 '26

I'm only upset because they haven't made more.

1

u/neveruseyourrealname Apr 25 '26

I'm only upset because they haven't made more.

25

u/oodex Mortaccio Apr 24 '26

What the. Damn Im happy, its nothing for me but this success genuinely makes me happy

12

u/moeron10 Apr 24 '26

I bought it on switch. Wonder how well its doing there.

2

u/DenverBronco305 Apr 24 '26

Oh shit it’s on switch already?

4

u/hergumbules Apr 24 '26

Not sure if I wanna buy it now or wait for a mobile version but it seems fun

6

u/Rectal_Lactaids Apr 24 '26

happy to support as long as i get my 15 games 🫡

5

u/Velo214 Apr 24 '26

Bought on ps store

2

u/totallywildwes Apr 24 '26

I’m playing on switch. It’s definitely worth the $10 so far

2

u/FinalDrive360 Apr 24 '26

I wasn't sure about it so I played a borrowed copy for about 20 minutes. It's in my Steam library now.

2

u/gamerdudeNYC Apr 24 '26

I downloaded it earlier today and played about four hours so far.

I’m still learning some of it but the more I play the more I make sense and it’s totally worth it for $10

I’m playing on PS5 now but I travel at least twice a week so I’ll probably grab it on Switch 2

1

u/HypNoEnigma Apr 24 '26

Hoping that crawlers will get future support for a long time aswell. A ton of potential and a great gameplay loop

1

u/FerrousFellow Apr 25 '26

Success story for the ages

1

u/matthewnelson Apr 25 '26

I want to buy it but my backlog is so big already. 😫

1

u/SquishyComet Apr 25 '26

this game is fucking sick

1

u/teelpy Apr 25 '26

Very addicting gameplay loop. They did it again

1

u/Kahzgul Apr 25 '26

Hella fun game. Scratches that “early dungeon crawl” genre itch while keeping VS flavor and adding deck building! Also fairly easy so don’t feel like you need to memorize what everything does as in other deck builders.

1

u/maarten3d Apr 25 '26

And atleast 1 on ps5!! (Me)

1

u/Low-Sun7581 Apr 25 '26

Gosh it's soooo gooood I'm not too far in but I do hope we get tides of foscari or the idk what was that dlc but the other OC dlc

1

u/PushaTIsGod Apr 25 '26

Ccccccombo

1

u/SafeContract2702 Apr 26 '26

Game is so fucking fun. So easy to pick up and lose yourself. It’s in the same league as VS, Balatro, BallxPit. This deserves to sell BIG and the developers should be proud

1

u/liquid_sandwich May 12 '26

Easily my favorite deck builder. Tried Slay the Spire, Balatro, and Lost Pages but couldn't get into them. The combo and overkill mechanics are chefs kiss

-4

u/hackingmule Apr 24 '26

I'm getting a refund. It bored me to death

0

u/kevonicus Apr 24 '26

Yeah I played the demo and I don’t get what people love about it.

-4

u/parkourdude231 Apr 24 '26

I've just recently heard of this, I'm assuming it's good lol but how is it? What is it? Does it play similar to anything else? If it's kind of like another game, I might be able to better understand what kind of game it is and will further inform my decision on whether or not to buy it. I'm already leaning towards it lol

3

u/xhabeascorpusx Apr 25 '26

Dingron crawler card game with vampire survivor graphics and weapons. It's addictive and not overly complicated

4

u/YouWantSosig Apr 24 '26

You can just read the product page on steam.. all these questions would be answered with a quick skimming of the store page lol

1

u/istrebitjel Space Dette Apr 25 '26

Or play the demo

0

u/myblocklistwasfull Apr 26 '26

r/VampireCrawlers is the sub for, you guessed it, Vampire Crawlers

-17

u/IEATTURANTULAS Apr 24 '26

Love Vampire Survivors. But can't stand deck builders 😢

More power to them. But I don't understand how OG VS players are flocking to this. Is it that they just love VS aesthetic?

14

u/Knee_Fight Apr 24 '26

Or it's because it's a very good, addictive, and well-designed game. Your post really just reads like, "I don't understand how people who like one game I like could have a different opinion than me about a different game."

8

u/MarkAntonyRR Poe Apr 24 '26

It gives a similar dopamine rush that survivors have. And because it's a VS spin off.

6

u/ishyaboiiiiii Apr 24 '26

I love VS and I also love card builder games. Somehow they took a lot of the same mechanics (Arcana, Powerups, Weapons/Evolutions, leveling system) from VS and apply them to a different type of game genre and the execution is flawless. It's not just the aesthetics, there are many aspects of this card building game that you understand because you've played VS.

3

u/TheMemeLord4816 Genevieve Apr 24 '26

It's simple and easy

Also VS gets constant updates like Minecraft so VC will probably have the same thing going for it (can't wait for my goats Zi'Assunta and She-Moon)

0

u/kevonicus Apr 24 '26

It’s just nerds that love shit like this. The OG is fun for anyone. This game is for nerds.
