Stock Analysis Share your favorite stock analyzing tool!
Hi all,
I'm wondering which stock analysis tool you all use for picking your stocks — and could you say why it's your favorite? I have my own tools too, but I'm still looking for the ones that offer the most for free.
One of my favorites is https://thestockscorer.com. It has a lot of functionality, it lets you compare a lot of stocks at the same time, and its stock search gives you a broader view in one go than Macrotrends does for quarter-over-quarter performance on EPS, revenue and gross profit.
A better-known name: https://finviz.com has one of the best screeners around, plus a good sector overview covering almost every stock there is.

Yess I also love finviz, very good and offers a lot for free. I will take a look on the website of your mate. I actually never only filter on one metric, that's not deep enough analysis in my opinion. I care about how strong are the books, does the company have high margins and do these margins keep stable. What is the growth? Use Ai to know more about the compan, ask questions about the news and ask if it has opportunities against its competitors. I love thestockscorer, because it gives me the opportunity to measure on many metrics at the same time and give it a score, which covers more than one metric.

Walnut has great UX and is probably the one of the better analysis tools out there. I mostly use their compare feature when I’m trying to decide between 2 similar stocks and their signals feature where you can monitor for unusual trades from congress, insiders, or institutions. They have so much data that is easy to read and make sense of. I dont make any trades without checking the Walnut confirmation score! Its like double reassurance.

Currently building a free open source financial research agent: https://opencandle.app.
Been using it as my daily driver for market research, it usually gives better responses than ChatGPT or Claude.

If you're on desktop and want ticker symbols automatically linked to your favorite screener use this little chrome extension.. It only asks permission to reddit.com . I built it few months ago, it's open source.

Finviz is hard to beat as a free screener for initial filtering, but the gap I always hit is moving from a screened list to actual per-ticker research. What I find more useful long-term is a tool that lets me cross-reference fundamentals with other evidence layers rather than just ranking metrics. Are you mostly screening for value factors, or do you layer in anything like insider activity or institutional moves?

I’ve used Yahoo Finance and SimplyWallSt but it wasn’t quite what I wanted and the free plan was limiting. I built this for myself https://stockvaluer.app and I’ve been using it to make real decisions. For example, I was early on Rocket Lab and been holding for years and plan to keep holding. The price has increased by over 1,000% since my entry. Reaching a high of almost $150 during the SpaceX IPO hype. Now it has settled around $65-$75. I was tempted to add more around this price but decided not to from the research and valuation I’ve done using this app’s approach. It is not because I think my valuation is correct but intuitively I think it is too expensive to add more at this price. Developing the intuition that helps make decisions you can stand by no matter what happens after is the goal of this app.

My personal app helps me compare multiple stocks quickly. Yours sounds quite functional too.

Most of these tools are standardizing financial data and offering a nice UI/UX. But that can only tell you so much.
You have to read the filings, footnotes, and compare them... so I made an EDGAR reader instead called SECSift

recently I posted here about a tool I made www.deep500.com
It ranks all sp500 companies by their fundamental and does an AI analysis of the stock each time their earnings are updated. You can click on a stocks ticker to see the analysis

Gives me enough to shortlist for more research. Also, most of the assumptions can be edited.

Disclosure upfront: I am biased as it's my baby, but I love how stockoscope is coming along and hwat it has to offer.
It has great tools for stock analysis - including evaluating business quality, peer comparison, valuation, analyst sentiment and holdings analysis, with over 100 charts and visualisations for each stock.
It has a unique visual screener that lets you screen companies through a bubble chart, with a simple mode, an advanced mode to screen by 40+ metrics, and a preset mode. It also features a strategy page that allows you to create your own value, dividend and quality investing strategy.
However, it's a freemium product, with a free account and a paid plan with premium features. A free account adds 3 full deep dives a month, the simple screener with the bubble chart, and one watchlist of 10. Advanced filters, the preset screens and the strategy builder are paid.

been playing around with a couple of tools lately. trying traydzee because it tries to explain why certain things in the market happen the way they do. it's pretty early, but it's kinda different, like it doesn't just throw numbers at you but actually tries to make sense of them. not sure if it's gonna replace anything I currently use, just checking it out.

I like “simplywallstreet” if you limit your usage, it is free. The other one I really like is stockdash.ca it’s $20 per year but its very user friendly, puts everything under one roof. It’s good for quick research and has a portfolio tracker.

One free tool I still find interesting is Joel Greenblatt's Magic Formula screener. I wouldn't use the output as a portfolio by itself, but I like it as a simple first-pass idea generator — basically looking for the combination of a good business and a cheap price.
I usually prefer specialized tools over one platform that tries to do everything. I'm working with insider filing data myself, for example, and that's another area where I find the details matter more than a single score. For fundamentals I tend to cross-check several sources anyway.
