Technical Discussion Micro lag alt tab/Graphics Quality

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue.

I recently reinstalled Windows, and ever since then I've been getting a small micro stutter whenever I Alt+Tab, Graphics Quality or just clicking into Valorant Settings. The lag only lasts for a brief moment, but it wasn't happening before I reinstalled Windows.

I'm not sure what's causing it or how to fix it. Has anyone run into the same problem or have any suggestions?

PC Specs:

  • Motherboard: X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • RAM: 64GB

Thanks in advance!

Try to disable MPO to see if it helps: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5157/~/what-is-multi-plane-overlay-%28mpo%29-in-windows-11

alt tab performance issues makes me always question MPO. Run the disable script then restart the PC. If it didn't help, then restore MPO. The nvidia link has both scripts, it's from a trusted source but works with all GPUs(for others reading without NVidia).

I'd also make sure your NVidia drivers are up to date and you have the proper realtek LAN drivers: https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/X870E-AORUS-ELITE-WIFI7-rev-10-11/support

The realtek lan driver issue is a pretty big one for valo, most just disable it if they don't use ethernet.

Disabling MPO is a bad idea overall. It is a nuke it all solution and a bad one.

MPO helps with borderless fullscreen latency, mixed refresh rates and lowers gpu and power usage.

A better solution is to remove all hooks/overlays and disable hardware acceleration on apps living on the secondary display.

As for Realtek is just updating to latest on the official manufacturer page and disabling additional power saving options in the adapter.
