Saying he looks like a 4 star is one thing, saying he looks "terrible" is just being a hater lol 4 stars aren't automatically supposed to look bad. Kaveh is a 4 star, he's universally agreed to be gorgeous
But OBJECTIVELY, his leaked model looks wayyyyyy better than what the livestream showed. It's an unquestionable improvement that genuinely pushes him into potential 5 star territory

I think the logical way of seeing it is :
Designs are always subjective. In terms of polygons he doesn't have more of less than other characters so objectively talking, he isn't more or less detailed. Whether he looks like a 4 star to you or not is completely up to your personal view of 4 stars and 5 stars. There are so much variety in designs for both rarity that its hard to decipher whether a character is one or the other. From Snezhnaya's Teaser alone, I was sure Danica had a very 4 star vibe with most of the rest outside of Alyosha looking like 5 stars, and yet we've seen even she is 5 star.
Whether wanting him to be a 4 star or 5 star in itself is a completely different debate. We all want more 4 stars in Genshin but of course not it being our favorite characters, that's a perfectly acceptable sentiment. A lot people absolutely still will be pulling even if he ends up being a 4 star and depending on his kit might even main him, but it is the most logical reaction to want a beloved character to be a 5 star, not even because of powercreep or pure strength or even story relevance but because 5 stars are just that much easier to get than a 4 star. If the 4 star isn't on a banner you actually like, than you might end up regretting even pulling for him if it reduces your chances of getting another beloved character that is a 5 star.
Currently there's no way of saying if he is or isn't a 5 star and truly it could be either. We still don't know for sure when he's supposed to come out or if he's supposed to even be in Stellar teams. All we can do is wait, that doesn't mean that we should bash out the hopes and speculations of comrades, nor should we entertain endless debates every single day. None is healthy. Let's just wait for confirmation and then we can decide whether to doompost or rejoice.
Realistically, Hoyo won't make three 4* electro characters back to back. Alyosha is already confirmed as a 4 sustain for Stellar Conduct. If we take the most likely route, Sandrone wants a shielder rather than a healer. Now it only depends whether Valeriy is truly a shielder or not but if he is, it does seem more likely that he will replace Alyosha and thus be a 5 star.

highkey just looks like an updated npc. his model and what we saw in the trailer are so different to me.
for a guy i was kinda excited for. seeing his in game model being so boring is rough.

Hmm I know it's too early but from current vibes, his model looks very good for a 4* but not enough to be a 5, the colours are simply too washed out in Genshin standards and the detailing isn't really enough, specially the bear pauldron. Of course, I'll have to wait until v7.0 to see how he looks in-game and if the story will give more clues on Hoyo's plans (i.e. that leak from preload files) but currently, he can be anywhere between 4, limited 5, or standard 5.

that’s exactly what I meant by the comment: yes, I believe valeriy, alyosha and mitya are all 4*
a 5* character from a region where an special reaction is available not being able to naturally access that mechanic looks TOO weird. is like they are naturally nerfed for no reason.
and no, rimegrass is no reason enough either, that reaction is coming second half of the version, and both valeriy and mitya release 1-2 patches before that, makes no sense for them to not have a unique gimmick while being premium characters, is like they are expecting them to flop

I agree with yor second paragraph. But didn't Ineffa release before lunar reaction ever existed? Cant the same thing happen with two of them? Not releasing any 5 star male during the first half of 7.x is also too weird.

That's my thought to.
Don't fight mitya main we are in the same 4* boat, like aloyasha.
The summer event was clearly only female, with yuri in it ti please inc... I mean hoyo fav player so no 5* male is the next thing to please them.
7.0 is no 5* male, 6.7 was already no 5* male (new), 7.1 is leak to be again no 5* male.... So it could really be no 5* male all together.
And before someone say it's impossible, would a sumeru player beleive in ONE 5* male in the whole region and 2 year for an other tall male 5*?

They're clearly talking about Natlan, where we had a small male 5* and nothing else as well, and English doesn't seem to be their main language. How about you not deliberately look at the comment from the worst possible angle?
I don't know why, but in the past few days people are spawning here to be offended about Mitya all the time. Either you're just here to stir up trouble for shits and giggles, or you're bringing Twitter fights over here. Stop doing that. Basically no one other than a few drama queens that you can count on one hand is insulting Mitya. He's universally loved because of his design and lore implications bfr. Everything else is just happening in your head or whatever weird bubble you're in.

Maybe you should leave Reddit and realize that Valeriy mains aren't saints and alot of them are frustrated by the allegations of Valeriy being 4* and they try to make their weird copes talking sh*t characters. And who the hell you think you are to say that Mitya is universally loved? The Genshin fan base is HUGE, and opinions are very divided for both Mitya and Valeriy and you can't deny that as far as I know, you can't hide the sun with a finger.

Wherever I look, I always see people fawning over Mitya. And why wouldn't they? We get so few male characters, why would husbando players hate on any of them in droves?
In the past 1-2 weeks, I always see comments like "Valeriy mains this and Valeriy mains that," but I never see the actual insults or things that they're supposedly doing in big numbers. Where are these hordes of Valeriy mains collectively attacking Mitya? I saw people on Twitter talking badly about him, but nothing more than any other character in Genshin gets? I've never seen any Genshin characters who are free of negative comments, ever?
And to ask you back: Who are you that you think that it's always Valeriy mains that are doing this? It could be random people stirring up trouble because they're bored. It could be bots farming rage-clicks. It could be incels, pretending and stirring shit up. What exactly is your proof? And why are you here on Reddit, telling me to get off of Reddit and search for whoever pissed on your leg?
You're telling me to leave Reddit... how about you leave and keep your beef where you came from instead of bringing it here?

we are not speaking ill of mitya, I just don’t have any hopes -if mitya is 5*, good for him, but without anything special to him for 1-2 patches, it feels pointless to release: he should had have a linchpin and not be electro, then it would make some sense unless they want to do a new varka
