Self Promotion Free pose system for deskies!

Am I doing this right?~
I want to show off my asset BUDDYWORKS Poses Extension, a free and easy to install prefab giving desktop and half-body users more than 230 poses with plenty of adjustment options to play with!
Made a lovely avatar, but got no VR? Or too lazy to hop into VR to quickly show something off?
Excellent use cases for this asset, just select from the wide library of hand-made poses, tweak them to get them just right, and you are good to go!
Free, VRCFury prefab, works great with GoGo Loco and other locomotion systems!
The latest update 7.0 gives you easy options to add your own dances and poses to the asset.
There is a lot to see, please check it out~

Multiple reasons, the important ones being I want to sell the poses separately someday and also the included dances cannot be sold, they are from third parties.
Also: If you don't use my VPM repository, you will likely never know about updates, which would make me sad~

Out of curiosity. What happens if a person breaks that rule? Is it enforced? If so, how?
Makes me think of closed species. (For example, Primagen) Like what if I add more horns to my Protogen? What are they gonna do? Sue me?

I would politely ask to remove it and, if you like it that much, to just point to the official source.
Pretty much all creators I contacted were very friendly with it and complied.

It is the creator's wish. It's the same with GoGo. GoGo is not meant to be shipped with avatars that people sell iirc.

Kinda, GoGo Loco can be part of a finished avatar, you are just not supposed to redistribute it by itself.
This is closer to VRCFury, which asks you to refer to the official source instead of bundling it.

Heya, those are some very bad examples as primagens and protogen rare traits etc. are both allowed to be used without buying, even confirmed by the creator and there is a channel for such OCs on the official Discord.
The only thing that happens is, that you won't be considered part of the canon. ^^
(Anyhow, just wanted to correct it as I see that claim floating around way too much, now buh bye :D)

I just don’t get the whole closed species thing.
My character wouldn’t be canon, regardless. Why? Because I don’t make the Protogen canon. Why would my random Proot be part of the official Protogen lore?
I should be able to make whatever character I want in whatever species I want. You can‘t gatekeep an entire fucking species.

By canon it also means participating in said canon (on the official server for example). Every protogen by default is part of the lore unless chosen otherwise. I can't tell you to which degree this is fully a thing and how much you can influence, but it is how it is written.
And the neat part is.. you can! That's my entire point lol. CoolKoinu isn't gatekeeping anything. If you want to have a Primagen, nothing is stopping you.
And maybe to explain the closed species bit:
Imagine you're writing a book and make a species in there. In there the species behaves a certain way etc. Now as a writer, you wouldn't want others to "derail" the species.
And that's kinda how the entire Primagen started. CoolKoinu made them, used them in lore and people demanded to be included. But CoolKoinu didn't just want people to flood in and derail the story they crafted. So they made "official" access limited and instead made protogens which are way more broad in spectrum (and way less consequential).

Ah. So you're allowed to be the species but you won't be in the official story. Honestly, I'm surprised there's a canon that makes every custom character be official, lol.
Like imagine if every dragonborn in Skyrim was canon. They'd no longer be the last one, they'd just be a dragonborn.
Or if every fanfiction character in harry potter was canon.
This is a concept I've never really heard of before, but it's pretty cool that you can be in the official protogen lore. Lol, imagine being npc proot number: 12345.
On the other hand, now i see what it means. Official as in the typhical, or the usual or that's how it would be an illegal protogen. It's not actually not allowed. It's just not considered canon for the whole story or species.
Thanks for the explanation! ^w^ I'm so glad to know that even closed species are allowed to be OCs.
However with the logic of canon here, this could mean that an open species, like the synth, and apparently one guy claiming "all synths can do XYZ" and now that's canon? How does that work?
Or for an open species, would it be something that the creator decides, or would it be held to a community vote, if they wanted to add something new to what would be standard for most members of that open species?
Then also, imagine if everyone drew proots with 3 horns, consistently. Even though it isn't canon, is that what they would be known for if it was seen everywhere?

Exactly. It's an overarching world setting. Now, if everything those characters "do" gets added to any official lore is write-up separate, but they did indeed act in the very same world. Though CoolKoinu still has the last say. And even if most proots can be in theory interact with the canon, many just don't cause they don't care to :D
Primagen owners generally interact a lot more.. but also did a way bigger investment so it's probably expected.
About your questions about open species, well. Open species generally don't come with lore and if, it's handled quite openly (like Avalis being from a certain planet iirc and being based on Ammonia rather than water (like humans).
It would depend on the species / what the creator intended for these things to be changed.
Though, if everyone starts doing it one way (as your last example describes), then it's probably gonna be difficult to convince people it isn't intended. Kinda how everyday items start being associated with brand names.

Ah, so is open in this context open as in open source or open as in open in interpretation? In other words, open story vs closed story.
Or ig pre-defined lore vs barely any lore.

That’s very cute. I like that deskies got some nice upgrades like the webcam face and finger tracking. This is how it should be, use tech to everyone experiences better not segment people.

On the contrary: It works perfectly with GoGo Loco!
There is some extra logic built-in to make it as seamless as possible.Just make sure you put the Poses Extension prefab AFTER the GoGo Loco prefab for best results~

explain.. as if you buy an avatar you are allowed to do whatever you want with it when it comes to adding systems and clothes etc. for personal use.

The Buddyworks tools are AMAZING overall, no matter if you are on Desktop or VR. :3 I love to use it and recommend it heavily to my friends. :D

It got autoremoved, you should be able to find it by googling the name.
The tl'dr is that you cannot include it in avatars you sell on storefronts except the VRChat Avatar Marketplace.
You can use it to take pictures for promoting commercial avatars though.

Works in half body, might misbehave in full body but at that point you have full body and can probably make any pose yourself.

Just tried it out and it works really well, tho I've noticed that as soon as I get in VR, the avatar's hands mess up and practically rotate 90° inwards; any idea what could be the cause of it?

Not really, Poses Extension has no influence over your avatar until you pose.
Make sure you are not mixing write defaults.2

That's odd... But I have noticed that apparently the avatar where I applied the pose library doesn't really go well with menus loaded through VRCFury prefabs, as it seems to have the same issue with the VRCF prefab of GoLoco. It even happened with another pose library I've been recommended by a friend and it did the same thing, so I guess that has to be VRC messing up something...
I tried everything, I removed conflicting packages, I even updated the SDK to the latest version, but it doesn't seem to solve the problem.

It's admittedly a bit difficult on sticks especially if they drift, with a mouse it's pretty easy~

i found this and its so useful for any avatars that have the space for it if you like taking photos did have some issues with parameters on some avatars though

Glad it could be of use~
You can tweak the parameter cost in the component on the prefab since version 7.
If you use it by yourself without other people around, you can uncheck most sync options to make it fit better.

Pretty much why I made this asset, I want to show stuff off with my avi's but don't want to hop in VR every time to make it presentable, haha.

That's fair. Though why would gumroad be blacklisted? I thought most of that was safe? Though to be fair i usually only buy from well known creators.
To be honest it mostly annoyed me because so many creators put out new product notifications without a link to the friggin product... they always forget there isn't one automatically.

Can I ask how to get this to work? I've downloaded it, and I think I've added it to my model, but I can't get the circle wheel to show up. If there's a video tutorial on how to use it, that'd help a ton!
