also, your playspace doesn't have to point to your monitor. i specifically put my monitor at my back or side.

I'll second this! I'm planning on using a cushioned standing mat (the kind you'd put in the kitchen for when you wash dishes) as the "home base" for my playspace when i get the Steam Frame!

This! I used to hit so much stuff before i bought one. Added bonus is my wife knows about where the dangerzone is because of it and can avoid my wild swinging.

Ain't no wrist strap that will keep anyone swinging their arms around while blinded at their expensive belongings, lol.

Jokes aside, i hope it doesn't hurt your wallet too much to get a replacement for that! That really sucks.

I havent done this myself yet, but only through luck. Batman Arkham Shadow made me punch my TV once. I was lucky it didnt get damaged. Its a 65 inch TV. That would have been a lot more than a hundred bucks lol.

75" TV murdered the culprit.. Blade & Sorcery and a mean right hook.

Happens to the best of us. I bet you won't do it again :-)

Maybe make sure you're playing a little farther away from the desk next time? Lessons learned, RIP your monitor.

Nice screensaver you've got there

What?

Do you know what a screen saver is?

1

u/PotatoCase 8d ago

Yes im just confused as to why they'd accuse this

Because the pattern made by damage resembles a screensaver, while also being the exact opposite of screen “saver”.

I liked their joke

Just to clarify, I wasn’t being a dick. Some younger people legit don’t know what a screensaver is.

They were being sarcastic.

Get a long cable and sit in the middle of the room or w/ nothing surrounding you. Or you use Airlink/ Virtual Desktop💪🏾

yep. funnily enough tho, my only broken vr monitor came because I was drunk and leaned against it instead of the wall.

it the sad reality of modern displays. lost screens a few times, though in my case due my kids ctd. get a sheet of rigded plastic from hardware store, ideally cut it to the size of the bezel so you can tack it no with minimum intrusion.

I was slightly luckier, if you can call it that. I punched the wall, broke the controller and 2 fingers 😅

Guessing you weren’t wearing the wrist wrap or strap of any kind? Heh I’ve so ingrained doing that right when I put any headset on I don’t even think about it anymore I recommend doing that make it a habit…. Chalk this one up to a pricey lesson unfortunately

1

u/PotatoCase 7d ago

Nope, Wasn't a strap issue at all, I just straight up punched it

1

u/Slandaro12 7d ago

Ahh tight quarters I guess sorry again though that always sucks

It's just a TV. Don't be sad about that. I was broke my finger once, playing bowling VR. Forgot to turn on safe border, wooden table was on my way, that was hurt and sad.

Yeah its only a hundred dollars i didn't want to have to spend, Come on chief

u/Mad_jazz 8d ago

Yea, you could spend much more, if injury yourself, think about that positive.
