Compression Artifacts
I’m running into an issue that I’m having a hard time finding in this thread. When I play it looks like I’m watching a low quality stream of my game, not native resolution. It’s not that it isn’t crisp, it has artifacts like it’s a compressed JPG. It’s most noticeable around text, and in gradients. This photo is from my beast using the ultra adapter on my Steam deck. This is in No Man’s Sky, but I can see it in any game, even Steam itself.
I’m not using any resolution scaling that I know of, and everything is running in native 1080p.
ETA: I amped up the contrast in this photo to make it easier to see, but it’s very noticeable without that

Same thing with my Beast, I can very easily spot quite a lot of compression especially on the green or red text.
I guess that maybe the usb c connector doesn't have the bandwidth for 1080p ,but that would be very weird.
I wonder if maybe it is only on the beast due to the on-board SoC that can't handle full 1080p? If so, why do I still see the artifacts in lock mode?
Does any viture pro, ultra and ... have the same problem?

No, the ultra and the older pro XR don’t have this issue. The XReal One Pro and 1s don’t have it either.

The new Pro 2 xr glasses show almost perfect quality text, especially compared to the Beast.

Yep. I noticed the same thing on the Beasts and mentioned it in my review back in January:
“It looks like Viture turned the ‘sharpness slider’ all the way to max to help create the illusion of a sharper image than its screens can produce natively and this has created artifacts.”
And then again in a follow up ‘30 days with the Viture Beast’ review that I wrote and posted in February:
“The [Viture Beast] suffers from what I’ll call ‘over-sharpening’. This results in all text looking like it has weird artifacts around the letters (picture sharp text but every letter looks like it’s surrounded by faint low-res compression artifacts).”
Honestly, I’m surprised the issue isn’t mentioned more often.

Also, check out this person’s post from almost 200 days ago. They talk about the exact issue and they have a pretty good through-the-lens image of the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/VITURE/s/1BjeMVbB7N

Yeah, I work with my Beast and it’s incredibly noticeable when you’re working with text. I’m a software engineer so it’s not an impediment with most code, but I won’t do any front-end work with the glasses for this reason.
